  • Mitt Romney would have been the perfect president for these economic times. He has real-world business experience and has run a state as governor.

Unfortunately we have Obama buying everything up with taxpayer money (banks, auto industry, healthcare, construction.... and proposing to affect all business with his 'green' agenda), plus placing inexperienced appointees in charge (check the backgrounds, most have no real world experience--especially the 31 year old making decisions for GM).

  • lol this is old as hell but the question would be how would that affected his ability to run the country

  • Oh yeah, gotta point out, as a resident of Texas, that group has NOTHING to do with the Mormon church. They're an offshoot that left for a REASON, because of doctrinal differences.

I'm an ordinary evangelical guy, not too deep in it, not into politics, and I can't think of any Mormon I've ever met that isn't a quality citizen and good person, honestly, visibly good. I don't believe all that they do but I endorse the quality of people they put out into the country. Good folks.

  • Just heard Huck on Rush today pretending that question was rooted in his own genuine ignorance of mormon religious doctrine, AGAIN.

Huck KNOWS what Mormons believe, and I think for him to pretend he doesn't is the act of a weasel and a liar, and is considerably enlightening about his character. He's NOT a nice guy.

And he told the same lie to Rush today, 8 27 08 ... said the reporter was more of an expert than he was, and he was actually ASKING the reporter that question... LIAR.

  • This is the most pathetic attempt at trying to derail Mike Huckabee that I have ever seen. Look, Romney said horrible things about Gov. Huckabee AND paid CFG 550,000 to distort his record. If all you can say about Huck is that he asked this question, & later apologized directly to Romney if he offended him I'd say he did a pretty good job. I find it odd that Romney didn't take THAT OPPORTUNITY to tell eveyone just what Mormons do believe....

  • If in heaven was all the spirit sons of God one rebel against God the Other was The saviour of the Human Kind.

    You Decide?

  • Are you kidding? Satan was a cheribum, an angel. Angels are not human they are a different kind of creation! If you asked the Lord if Satan was his brother he would probably tell you to read the Old Testament and find the truth. Of course you should only read the parts you think are translated correctly.

  • I do think this video shows what we already know, that Huckabee was not honest in his approach to Romney's religion. He has spoiled the primary by splitting the conservative vote and thereby putting a someone liberal candidate up for our nominee. Now he (Huckabee) stands to be the spoiler for the whole republican convention. He seems to seek his own glory more than anything else.

  • Huckabee is crazy! Vote for Obama!

  • (to continue) When you do those things, we will welcome you. Our prayers are to that end. Misinterpreting and isolating scripture gets you nowhere. We know you are well-trained in that discipline, and we understand that you have been misled.

  • Thank you for your prayers oh arrogant one! LOL!

  • The supposedly "only true church" refuses to open its historical records, artifacts and accounts to critical examination. This is the hallmark of a true sham--not eternal truth that fears no ray of light. By excommunicating scholars and suppressing scholarship, the LDS church has put itself on par with every other mind control cult. Maybe Tom Cruise will cross over to Mormonia--then we would have even more intersting Youtube vids.

  • Read N.T. Wright. He gives and excellent look at Christianity. I have come to believe that most Christians do not have a good grasp of their own religious background as if it sprang out of no where while they attack other religions.

  • It's so much easier to criticize the others! I'm right and you're wrong!! I agree that people need to understand their religious backgrounds. It may come as a shock to most Christians...that the Teachings of Jesus are not the foundation of Christianity...Paul preached a different Gospel than Jesus...shocking but true...the Teachings of Jesus have been at the back of the bus for 2,000 years!

  • As for Mike: He's toast. If he couldn't win South Carolina what can he win? It's going to be a two horse race between Mitt and McCain once your man Mike drops out. Then whom will you support? As between Mitt and Hillary or Barack whom will you support?

  • What do think Mike should say? Being an ordained Christian minister, he knows a great deal about the Christian faith, but comparatively very little about the Mormon faith. What he did say is true, and a core belief of Mormonism.

  • What Mike should do is be honest. Instead of acting like he's got an innocent question that he's genuinely looking for an answer to, he should just make the statement "did you know that Mormons believe..."and get the message out there if he wants to. Instead of being up-front he play ignorance shtick, but nobody buys it anymore.

  • The Mormon faith is the Christian faith so I guess Mike doesn't really know much about the Christian faith after all. LOL.

  • Christians believe Jesus is the eternally preexistent creator of all things, only begotten son of God, redeemer of mankind, and only way to heaven. Mormons believe their man called Jesus is Satan's brother, a man who somehow became God, and that they earn their salvation by works and become like gods themselves. Mutually exclusive statements cannot both be true.

  • Gosh friendof for someone who can put a pretty fair sentence together you shock me with your lack of knowledge of your own faith and of the LDS faith. LDS also believe the same first four things that you stated except to add that Jesus was the only begotten "in the flesh." Since all mankind are brothers then Jesus and Satan are brothers since they too are part of mankind. Sadly, even you and I are brothers.

  • Speaking of ignorance, I would suggest you study a bit on Satan's origin vs. Jesus' and your own. Quite a bit of difference. Mormons want to be mainstream Christian, and would be accepted as such when they finish denouncing Joseph Smith's fantasies, as they have been gradually doing through the decades. Admit error, accept the Bible as the ONLY authoratative Word of God (without any additional revelations), and recognize the Biblical Christ, not the Mormon interpretation and reinvention.

  • tlogan601 -- You sound like the same kind of person that would have denounced Christ and Noah for their 'fantasies' Like it or not...Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God! Sorry to disappoint you.

    God bless my brother!

  • Joseph Smith was a prophet? What kind of prophet tells his congregation a lie about how many wives he has? Look at the good works that came down through time. A raid in Texas shows you the fruits of what Joseph started.

  • paint -- Yes, Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He did not lie.

The raid on that sect in Texas has nothing to do with Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith established the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which has no affiliation with the group in Texas. Your statement is equivalent to asking someone to look at Babe Ruth to see what the LA Dodgers have become. It does not make sense.

  • Stylee, did you know that many Leaders of the church married another 220 wives AFTER the Manifesto? Many LDS church polygamist wives were still alive in the 1950s. Now the end has come and there are no more LDS polygamists although it hasn't been that LONG. Have you read Josephs speech where he states that he had 1 wife and if fact at the time he had several wives? I guess if it's a prophet lies don't count.

  • paint -- Did you know that I know my Church's history and doctrines? Therefore, I do not need you to try and tell me about false rumors and conspiracies regarding my Church.

Your statement is not true. Where do you get your information?

  • Hey this is not a false rumor or conspiracy. Look it up. You might think you know about your history. Read some of the Smith family history. Read all of the Church authors and every other book you can get your hands on. I have, since our family is a direct decendant of Hyrum Smith. You should do the same.

  • paint- You failed to answer my question. Where do you get your information?

You falsely assume that I have not looked it up and you falsely assume that I have not read my Church's history.

Are you related to Elder Ballard?

  • It's about time all members seek the truth. Anyone reading this post should search every website and bookstore available. I don't need to provide a source only to have you say they are liers and not reliable. Seek the truth and the truth will set you free!

Titus 3:5 He saved us, not on the basis of DEEDS which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy.

  • paint - For once, I agree with you. :) I hope everyone (including you and I) will always seek the truth and remain open-minded to what others believe and learn for ourselves.

But again, you have failed to answer my question. :) You are entitled to your opinion; however, do not be suprised when someone calls you out for it and asks you to provide more support than "ipse dixit."

  • friendof Heb 12:9: "shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?" Ecc. 12:7: "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." Jesus is "firstbegotten in the spirit." Heb 1: 4-6.

  • LDS do not believe that Jesus "somehow became God" as you stated but believe He always was God. LDS believe that we are saved from death by Christ's grace but we also believe James 2:17 concerning works. Godhood? You bet! Psalm 82:6. John 10:34-36. Matt 5:48. Rom 8:16-17. Gal 4:7. Should I go on?

  • Please atheists, this election, get out and vote. We cannot allow either of these potentially dangerous religious idiots - Mitt nor 'Huck' - to take office. The results would be disastrous.

  • Are there any professed atheists running for president this year? I don't think so. Who scares you least of all those running? Why don't you run on the atheist ticket? I think your "Godless society" platform will get some serious traction all over America! LOL!

  • Godless platform? Actually, I don't cast my vote for a presidential candidate based on the candidate's religious background (or lack of it). But I will definitely not support any candidate who uses religion/'God' as a means to draw the support of the idiots and impose their religious bullshit. I support Ron Paul.

  • So you vote your conscience. That's good. Ron Paul has no chance at all but at least you can say "I did not vote for (fill in the blank)." That should make you feel pretty good. LOL. BTW is Ron Paul an atheist? If he ever did get elected do you think he would be any different than all the rest? He is probably a closet Christian.

  • "He is probably a closet Christian."

Again, it's not the religious background that bothers me (whatever it is). It's the attempt to impose those beliefs on others that does. I like Ron Paul because he truly believes in the constitution - religious ("Christian") America has twisted it into something dangerous to us all. Didn't you notice the absolute idiocy of this 'Huck' character's people? The same could video could have been made of Romney. And you'll follow them I suppose?

  • I am LDS and I prefer McCain's views. Mitt's religion does not bother me for obvious reasons but he certainly is not trying to impose his beliefs on anybody. He gave a speech to a bunch of born agains so they would know his view on religion. That speech obviously would not appeal to agnostics or athesists. I would vote for him.

  • Huckabee is a moron, a bible thumping moron.

Romney is a moron, a lying piece of shit that would sell his own mothr to win at all costs.

    Two peas in a pod.

  • Huck is a disaster. No wonder his campaign is imploding in Iowa and nationally.

  • I find it amazing in this day and age I would have to say this but I will. Every Sunday I hear how Jesus died for our sins, no Jesus died because someone looked down on him and disagreed with his religious beliefs, because it was different then their own! So if Jesus did die for our sins isn't looking down on someone because they have a different religious belief a sin !!!!!!

  • Religion continues to be the tool of the dangerous. Idiots please, stop supporting these people.

  • Romney's religion clearly teaches that Jesus and Satan are brothers AND that Christ's sacrifice on the cross is not enough to FULLY pay for the sins of believers.

  • You've missed the point entirely (it wouldn't matter if Mormons believe that Satan is the brother of a marshmellow.) Watch the video again, there's a reason that all the references to Hucakbee's ignorance about Mormonism are underlined. Mike folks were running around weeks earlier using the factoid as a political attack and then miraculously Mike innocently wonders the same exact thing out loud -- I don't think so.

  • I agree it doesn't matter what people believe, as long as they are honest about it. Has Mr.Romney made any statement anywhere where he said, " Mr. Huckabee did make a True statement of my beliefs (in the form of a question) but I don't agree with the manor he brought it up." I personally don't know if Mr. Romney has or not but if he hasn't then it would appear he is not proud of his beliefs. If he has please let me know where I can find this statement.

  • It doesn't matter what Mormons believe or don't believe. Mike Huckabee knows LDS doctrine and is trying to attack the LDS faith and then pretend he doesn't know the LDS faith very well.

That's nothing but classic "passive-aggrssive" behavior is attacking someone and then denying it.

  • Mormons believe exactly what Huckabee said they did

  • yep we do, so what? We're in a free contry.

  • For the millionth time, you've missed the point completely (nobody cares what Mormons believe). Mike's feigned ignorance about the Mormon doctrine leaves this viewer completely incredulous. This was clearly a way to deliver an underhanded attack on Romney. You probably believed that Hillary's NH manager was making an "innocent" rumination as well when he wondered if the Republicnas would use Obama's drug past against him.

  • The Huckster rides again!

  • What's the big deal? You can read documents on the official LDS website written by Mormons defending that belief... The real scandal is that the news media tried to make it seem as if Mormons don't really believe it and that Huckabee just pulled it out of thin air. He asked the question because the reporter was having a conversation with him about the differences between Christianity and Mormonism. This was totally a media contrived controversy.

  • Huck is a smooth lier. Hes a smooth Lier. All Baptists know all the Anti Mormon rhetoric. We have a baptist collage where I live and they teach Anti Mormon Classes for all there students. HUCK LIED to the whole country when I said that. He Said it to get it out there and then acted like it was an accident or that he didn't know. Hmm... He LIED

  • Mormon do believe that satan and Jesus are brothers the reason I know I'm ex mormon

  • Wow good video, it actually shows that Huckabee most likely heard it first from that lady. He probably did not knowing if it was true, so he then asked the reporter who knows a lot about the mormon religion, because he was curious. It actually clears him, as far as I can see.

  • When you've got a "genuine" question you usually don't raise it in an interview with a New York Times reporter, especially when your surrogates are running around using it as a smear on your opponent. If you believe that Mike (the Baptist Minister) was just raising an innocent question then I've got some land in Florida that you should take a look at.

  • What was wrong about the question? Are people mad because he said a lie about what Mormons believe or are people mad because he asked a question that the Mormons do not want to talk about? I just went to LDS (dot) Org and typed in their Search field "How can Jesus and Lucifer be brothers" the first article that comes up confirms they believe they are bothers. This is from the LDS website!

  • The issue is not the question itself (nobody cares what Mormons believe about Jesus and the Devil), the allegation is that Huckabee's comment wasn't so "innocent" and "born of genuine ignorance" as he claimed (and the video tries to show). Mike has a pattern of deception when it comes to responding to gaffs and mistakes. Take a look at a few of his other less than truthful responses: Go to my link on the right.

  • There is no way to prove if he did or did not bring up that question deceptively, only he really knows. It all boils down to someone's personal opinion. You believe he was deceptive and can't see that. If that's what you believe, then more power to you. Just make it clear that you're not calling his statement a lie (since it is true). If you believe none of the other candidates are being deceptive in their own ways then I also have some land in Florida I can sell you.

  • Yes we believe that. He lied about not knowing. He knew that doctrine and he knew it very well. He knows why we believe that and he can't explain that belief away either. I know that conference he was at and couldn't put up a reason to believe otherwise except the he (they) don't want to believe that.

  • Huckabee knew exactly what was going on. And he showed up in Salt Lake with the expressed intent of converting Mormons at those conferences. His feigned ignorance in bringing that question to a New York Times reporter shows a complete lack of charcter. I may be a Presbyterian, but I have nothing but respect for my Mormon brethren. The world could learn something from their work ethic and strong emphasis on family.

  • your a great American cmartel2. I'm with you on that. It's good to hear some common sense.

  • Yeah, now there is a valid basis for selecting a president. If Huckabee wins the Republican nomination, the Democrats deserve to win. Someone needs to take Huckabee to the woodshed.
