  • 3:15 I can't argue with Pearl on that one!

  • "And they lived happily ever after."

Yeah, right, until the Mushroom Guy moved in.

  • "Because the crows have taught me a valuable lesson!"

  • 1 person had a deep fried rock.

  • Servo WAS pretty adowable.

  • I think this is my new favourite MST3K episode. Thanks for uploading.

  • what am i to take away from that film? i am used to folk tales being full of violence child abuse and really disturbingly dark subject matter, but what the hell was the point of all that? endure endless abuse, and you will live hapily ever after? should i get a blind woman her stick? set a hunchback fairy on fire? marry children? WTF?

  • I've got a reasonably weird question for everybody: Does anybody recognize the song being sung at the wedding? Is it a traditional Russian folk song, and if so, what is it called?

  • So...here's the question: If Pearl wasn't around, would Mike be a captive on the SOL or would he convince Bobo and Brain Guy to join them all in the theater? Whenever he's actually with the two of them, it turns into guy's night out.

  • Every which way but loose! That's a great ape movie!

  • "enjoy a mug of penetrating wood finish"

  • Thanks for uploading this!

  • Wow, what a passionate kiss! Save some of that for the honeymoon you crazy kids!

  • "I'm Pweshus!"

  • Brain Guy sounds Scottish when he's drunk.

  • Hehehe, the "Young Mike Nelson" jokes always get me roaring. hehehe

  • The lesson here; Ugly people are evil and deserve to be treated horribly!

  • I'm starting to sweat right through the damn babushka!

  • Servo: A YOUNG MIKE NELSON!!!

    Mike: Hey!

Crow: Proving again that slightly unattractive people ARE evil!

Crow: And they became professional fabregé egg imitators!

Servo: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club wedding!

Mike: Please enjoy the deep fried rocks!

  • Hey, I just had a thought. Is that the first time that Mike has actually been in the same physical location as Pearl Forrester?

  • bedtime for bonzo is the best ape movie

  • Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. C'Mon!

  • So...what the hell was that movie about?

  • It's weird, but this is another one of those films I really didn't mind that much. Maybe it was just that it had all kinds of mythological stuff in it, which I love, because it's certainly an example of why some stories are better told than seen. Whatever the reason, it didn't cause me the pain of most MST films, and they had a lot of great jokes for this one too.

Plus, nearly every line in the film was stinger material.

  • Are we including fake apes? Because I think King Kong (original) was the best ape movie ever.

  • @putzthewondersloth Beat me to it!

  • I'm dowling!

  • 1:17 My god...Tom Servo is...MOE!!!

  • Please enjoy the deep fried rocks.

  • Pearl: Until next time, Nelson. Fresh pain awa--.

    Mike: Uh...I'm right here.

Pearl: Oh. Until next time, Nelson. Fresh pain awaits.

  • this one was very funny, one of the best episodes i have seen in a while. which probably makes this one of the worst they have ever viewed. and oh yeah, MERRY FFING CHRISTMAS!

  • I think the only reason someone hit dislike is because the movie wasn't nearly long enough!

  • Tom : A young Mike Nelson!

    Mike : Hey!

  • Not that this is partcularly funny, but I like pointing out rare moments on the show. I think this is one of the few times the show ends without Mike on the SOL. I also think parts: the clonus horror MAY be the only movie not announced before mike (or joel) and the bots go into the theater.

  • "You stupid loathsome freaks, I'M PWECIOUS!"

  • Proving once again that slightly unattractive people are evil.

  • remember when pearl was only mean to her son.....i miss granny pearl, the nice one

  • This was excruciatingly painful for me to see the happy ending...

  • I'd say the best ape movie was the original Planet of the Apes, but the only 'chimp' movie I've ever seen was Dustin Checks in. I thought it was pretty good, but then I was 4 or 5 when I saw it, so at that age I thought all movies were great.

  • @jekblom123= Going Ape, with Tony Danza. That was a funny one.

  • @vigo894 how do you tell the difference?

  • Pearl Forrester clicked the dislike button apparently.

  • I have absolutely no idea what this movie was about.

  • Tom *furious*: You make me sick. Look, just forget it, you couple of morons. I'm cute. Okay? I'm cute like that scrawny little squarehead in the movie, but just forget it. The whole cute thing's in the crapper!

  • A young Mike Nelson!

  • Project X is actually the greatest ape movie!

  • I actually quite liked this movie. The riffing was top notch though!

  • @SovanJedi - I agree. If I'd seen this or The Day the Earth Froze by themselves as a kid, I would've loved them, just as I did The Magic Pony. Not saying I'd have any idea what was going on, but I seem to be a sucker for Russo-Finnish faerie tales, nonetheless.

  • I feel BAD for the meaner sister.. It is the old woman's fault she is so mean.

  • Doesn't Dunstan Checks in star a chimpanzee?

  • @AuburnRed1 No, it's an orangutan

  • 1:57. Mike and the 'Bots can be a little hard on the Swedes, huh?

  • @scooteratreides And Canada, and the South and...well anyone who makes a bad movie. Heh.

  • Sometimes I swear this show's almost too clever. For about the last 3 parts I was thinking that the moral of the story seems to be that ugly people are inherently evil, and here we are at the end, where Tom Servo paraphrases my very thought! Good call, boys!

  • "Proving again that slightly unattractive people are evil!"

    "Now I'll give the orders!"

"B/c the crows have taught me a valuable lesson!"

"Pls enjoy the deep fried rocks."

"Yeah right, until the mushroom guy moved in."

  • I think that the dog was my favourite character in this.

  • Man, the Bulgarian Women's Chorus is a rockin' reception band!

  • "Mother took me down seconds after I took power"

Is it just me, or are Russian fairy tales kind of weird? XD

  • @Tareltonlives

Fairy-tales where witches live in magical houses on giant chicken legs, that walk around on command, employ Ents as henchmen, and own sleds that turn into pigs?

Why, what's so weird about that?

    ;)

  • pappy yocum and mother teresa. lawl.

  • "A young Mike Nelson!"

"You just know they're going to be dancing to Proud Marry in about an hour"

-They lived happily ever after...The End- "Yeah Right, until the mushroom guy moved in"

  • is it really wise for Brain Guy to be using his awesome mental powers when he's totally smashed?

  • Hey, Pearl's right, you can't go wrong with Dunston

  • Your pain gives us joy!

    "Now, I'll give the orders!"

Because the crows have taught me a valuable lesson!

  • On Babe, On Gordy, On Wilbur!!

  • "A young Mike Nelson!"

    "Hey!"

  • Yeah until the mushroom guy moved in...

  • "I'm dowling."

  • You know, in spite of the hilarious commentary, this was a pretty cute movie. I think I'll look it up with out the MST treatment later.

  • I know what you mean, as ridiculous as that movie was I couldn't help but be interested in the folklore. I don't think I'd watch the non-MST3K version though because if not for it I probably would have been annoyed by some parts that the commentary made funnier.

  • Jeez...I still don't know what the heck that movie was about.

  • Why does all of Russia in this look like the setting for "It's a Small World"?

  • For 1964 adaptation of Slavic folklore, this movie is not that bad.

  • That movie was bad, but it still wasn't as bad as the "Jack Frost" where Michael Keaton played the snowman. (Shudders)

  • @blakiecakes419

What about the "Jack Frost" movie where the snowman rapes a woman with his carrot?

  • Lets just say that all snowmen are evil, and movies are better off without them talking.

  • @sillygrl23

how do you know what I dream about....

  • Tom actually is kind of "adowable". :D

  • @AuburnRed1 I agree, he is really "dawling"

  • A young Mike Nelson..lol.

  • Is she drinking a bottle of Spotted Cow at the end there?

  • Thanks for uploading this movie! It's one of the best MST films ever!

  • Nastinka gets to wear a Pope hat for her wedding! I wonder if their sleigh got converted to a Popemobile.

  • I love this episode!! Thanks for posting it!!

  • they refrained from commenting on the disturbing nature of the relationship between that bear face guy and the girl. i was waiting the whole movie for that.

  • Which part? The fact that their relationship is based on nothing, or that she looks 10 years old?

  • @MagicalTrumpy The actress was 16, which is less creepy. Somewhat.

  • @Tareltonlives By today's (and western standards), yeah, definitely. Keep in mind, though, for the time period and culture that this movie & tale were based in, women were married off when they were able to bear children; they were considered adults at menarche. Now the fact that the actress looks only about NINE, *that's* the creepy part.

  • @MagicalTrumpy

hey, I've got plenty of friends who based their marriages on nothing. I WISH that was something that only happened in bad movies and fairy tales.

I think Servo may have been right when earlier in the episode he described marriage as a "dizzying existencial ride to nowhere." sounds a lot more plausible than Mike's "niceness is fun" argument.

  • @trapadoored Actually I think their relationship is based on their being more attractive than the other characters. And that he rescued her, (sort of) and that's %90 of fairy tale marriages, which are more substantial than some real ones.

  • It's funny how Pearl didn't get angry at Brain Guy and Bobo for having brought Mike down.

  • Even funnier how angry she gets when Brain Guy can't bring Mike down in Episode 820 "Space Mutiny"

  • Yeah, when he brings Mike "goose down feathers", verbally brought him down, and then brings a person named Mike Down to the dungeon.

  • your dowling? what? wooden rods? lol

    those eyes are ridiculous :)

  • They lived happily ever after until they were all sent to the gulags to work to death.

  • So is a babushka the handkerchief, the grandma, or both?

  • I think it's both. Babushka is the traditional handkerchief, but I think it's also a standard nickname meaning 'granny'. My russian friend always called her grandmother that....

  • Oh I didn't know that! That's so cute :-)

  • Well, I'm Polish, and I can say that it's definitely the handkerchief. It can be used for the grandma, though, although the proper term is busha.

  • Somehow the mother in this movie reminds me of those Ellen Burstyn and Gena Rowlands characters in some of the "chick flicks."

  • "Sergent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Wedding."

  • "Your pain gives us joy!"

  • Oh how unfortunate! I suddenly made a peculiar parallel of Pearl and the boys to stepmother and the old man. I hope Pearl doesn't have Munchausen Bi Proxy Syndrome.

  • bi proxy? does that means she's also bi-polar? :-)

Well, it is Pearl after all

  • LOL! That and then some I'm sure.

What bi proxy is - I have no idea...sounds like some kind of car filter or something.

  • Nerd lesson! I think it's by proxy and I think proxy means by someone acting for another person. Munchausens is when someone pretends to be sick to get attention, so , I think Munchausens by proxy is like when someone pretends their child is sick to get attention. It's really weird and I actually don't entirely get the guys joke about it :-/

  • "A young Mike Nelson!"

  • "Hey!"

  • Servo: The Bulgarian Women's Chorus is a rockin' band!

Crow: Please enjoy the deep-fried rocks.

"AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER..."

Mike: Yeah, right, until the mushroom guy moved in.

  • "Now I'll give the orders!"

"Because the crows have taught me a valuable lesson!"

  • Mother took me down seconds after I took power

  • "Yeah right until the mushroom guy moved in"

  • "Proving again that slightly unattractive people are evil!"

  • "A young Mike Nelson!"

    "Hey!"

  • What the Hell?! :O

  • Well, that was interesting!

  • "Sergent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Wedding."

    Servo is very adorable :-)

  • He doesn't even have to try to be adorable, either. :)
