  • @flt2828 Thank you from Marseille

  • Dude (can I call you Dude?) ... you are perfect singer.. also wonderful work on guitar.. and also I like that you put violin in that part when she dies, it gives a special emotion to it ... CHEERS !!! :)

  • @futurista2310 To tell me so kind things, yes, you can call me dude =) Thank you!

  • Can you picture Molly's lover meeting her for the first time, watching her work, and sitting by her and her family when she died? I can and it almost makes me cry.

  • @MsCatlover1994 Unusual comment, and I hope my version helps you picture the whole story the way it moves you the most. Thank you =)

  • It defintely is known in the south cause I went there on vacation and they heard it

  • @ForgottenxDegnerate All right... well I'm not too surprised, US music's deepest roots lie in the South =).

  • I know! I really didn't know it but I'm glad that other american's may know it:)

  • @ForgottenxDegnerate Do you mean it's well-known in the US actually?

  • You're amazing:) I'm from america but I went to Ireland on a trip for St. Pat's day with my school and our tour guide sung this and our class was like what the hell but Know i'm addicted:) THanks for posting this

  • @ForgottenxDegnerate Thank you! I'm pleased to see young people away from Ireland like it too. Also, I'm surprised that you weren't used to this kind of music when you're from the States. Irish Traditional is a really beautiful style, that greatly influenced the birth of folk in the US.

  • ...wonderful...

  • @MrBoba1973 Thank you Mr Boba!

  • WOW ... wonderful voice ....

  • This might be the best version on YouTube of a song I sing daily.

  • Dear Blindstrings, great version! Sensitive en melodious. I loved it! Jeanette Hoekstra

  • @GrietjeGre Thank you Jeanette!

  • this sounds like a carribean version

  • Best version I've ever heard :) As kids, my best friend would sing this every weekend as we sailed on a lake together discussing life. Gives me goosebumps to hear it now, especially done this well. Thanks!

  • @jackoms and I'm wondering either I'll travel to Ireland for 15 days in September, or elsewhere... This kind of comment could help me...

  • You have a wonderful voice for this song. Very different from The Dubliners, it's almost dreamy. Very good job indeed. Thank you for that!

  • @catkat Thank you, I'm glad you liked this version! Hello from France.

  • Great version- and I'm particular about the ckassics- you did really well.

Although if you are really blind somebody should tell you you got done on that cap- shocking!

  • Thank you for this meaningful message! Speaking of meaning, I'm not certain what you meant about my cap, I don't know that "getting done" phrase.

  • Very nice. Nice voice. Its soft and sweet. :o} This happens to be one of my fave Irish tunes.

  • @Crissbaby2008 Thanks! That's how I want this song to be liked...

  • Your welcome. You really do have a nice, soft and sweet voice by the way. And as I'm part Irish, I think that this version is really good. You really did a wonderful job on it.

  • Could I ask which chords you used for this, please?

  • Sure. I use the same for verses and chorus.

    G Em Am D7

    G E A7 D

... repeated as many times as needed

  • Very nice version.

  • Thanks Bruce!

  • Very nice...I love and sing this tune also...Love it...You have a very nice voice to!

  • Hey, welcome back, and thank you again.

  • Very gentle performance of the wonderful song:) Thanks

  • And very nice comment. Thank you!

  • It's sung in english. Also needs a bit more...oomph behind it, stronger in your voice I mean. But not bad. Dublin, the best city ever (though I'm dyin to go to the states next year haha)

  • Thank you. I'm not sure what you mean about English, but if you blame me on my French accent, I can't do a lot about it.

The thing I didn't like in almost every version I heard before is exactly what you think mine lacks.

  • That was really great, in a very charming, unassuming manner.

  • Cheers!

  • pretty

  • Thank you =)

  • A very simple et moving version

  • Merci de te laisser émouvoir =).

  • very beautiful

  • Thanks!

  • I know :)i like this song very much and Danny Boy too. is this in gaelic?

  • Molly Malone and Danny Boy are in English, you can find the lyrics easily with Google. There may be Gaelic versions, but in that case I don't know them.

  • Nice to hear from you. :)

  • i knew a faster vesion of this song ç_ç that i like so much than this version

  • Matter of taste!

  • Wow - very nice!

  • Thanks!

  • I remember listening this song during my English lessons.

    Alive alive-o is a great line :D

  • I really love your rendition, great having Molly's statue there also. Your voice is very soothing and I really like your style of casual performance. I sing and have recorded this tune myself, certainly one of my favorite traditional pieces and you do it so well.

  • Your record is so exotic, another version of this great song, thank you!

  • c'est belle chanson impressionnant.

  • Merci beaucoup! Et salut la République Tchèque!

  • I have been trying to find this song for years. My stepmom used to sing it to me until I fell asleep when I was young I was very sick! Thanks for bringing it back to me ;)

  • If you want a song to fall asleep, I think I have one in store... ;)

  • so not feeling it! :-(

  • Ah, well matter of taste I suppose. I don't like Sinnead's version very much, the same way LagWulf explained.

Before you ask, I'm not gay nor lesbian.

  • Wow! First version in internet i found, which is not too kitschy (sinnead o'connor) and which doesn't sound like swaying rhythmically in a beer-tent (The Dubliners). Your version sounds for me even more like a traditional. Not to forget it's a sad song, you voice fits the character of this piece. Perhaps you could give your voice onlay a little bit more dynamic.

    Greetings

    LagWulf

  • Wow wow! I can't be but pleased by this so nice comment... I think we have the same understanding of this song. Thanks for your advice! Have you ever been to Dublin?

  • Hi BlindStrings,

thanks for your nice reply. Unfortunately, i've have not been to Dublin yet. But definitely in the next 5 years, so my plans.

I heard that the song is widely performed in the way "The Dubliners" do, more rough anfd funny with beer in your hand. Perhaps the song is so popular that the sad character transformed to a more funny and insouciant but originally performed as a sad song. I dont know it, just felt that it fits the character of this music quite well. Greetings LagWulf

  • Hey, forgot to reply to that!...

I'm not home for now, but as soon as I am, I'll check whose version I'm inspiring the most from.

    Take care.

  • Impressionnant..!!! Je suis allée dans pas mal d'endroits mais jamais Dublin, il faudrait que j'y aille un jour :)

    5 étoiles, Sev

  • Ca Séverine, c'est sûr, l'Irlande ne se rate pas!

  • I love this song. It's a pleasure hear you, you are brilliant. Al escuchar esta canción me han venido todos los recuerdos de Irlanda ya que estuve muchos años viviendo. Thank you for the song!!!

  • Thank you, Spanish friend! You were lucky to live there so long!

  • Well done, with nice pure vocals.

  • When I read your comment on my mail box, I first believed you were commenting my "She moved through the fair"; it means much to me such a good singer of Celtic music wrote that. Thanks Jesse!

  • I love you william. =D

You're such a fantastic person, with exquisite musical taste and talent.

  • What can I say, all you wrote is right :P Seriously though, thank you so much for being such a support. And I'm sure there are great records dorming in your mind ;)

  • loved it. Well done.

  • Thank you, Beardman. Even longer than mine but still lets a nice voice out ;)

  • very, very nice......front row!!!!

  • Mais tu connais tous mes coins préférés toi! Merci, ô connaisseur...

  • Once again, full of restrained emotions! Wish I was able to sing so deeply while not getting too emotionally involved! I sometimes cry while playing this kind of song...

  • I hear you. This was the case in my B&W Pink Floyd vid especially, which simetimes give me chills - I fear I could jump out the window on the vid and kill myself in the future. Call my McFly...

  • Outstanding.

  • Unusual would be the word? ;)

  • This is really great Guil. Songs like this need to be heard more often. I remember seeing Peter, Paul, and Mary do a version of this song when I was about 12 years old and I've never forgotten it. Some random trivia for ya ;o) -Ron

  • Second time I hear of them... I think I should give them some time soon. Thank you Ron!

  • Very nice! I too have always liked this song. You did it proud.

  • Thanks for sharing your satisfaction, batboy.

  • Excellent!!

And your voice matches with this song perfectly.

    Thank you for sharing

  • Domo arigato, Gomente San! This is my pleasure.
