Kirby is about sucking up enemies and either spitting them out or swallowing them and using power-ups. Stafy is about swimming more than running and jumping. The look of Stafy isn't a rip-off of Kirby. Their style is Japanese cuteness. I saw the opening of the tokusetsu version of Spider-Man and he has a giant mech similar to the Zords seen in the Super Sentai/Power Rangers series, but I heard that Spider-Man's mech started it all.
