the peugeot 206 is exactly the same car as the 206 but with a wider body kit, and also rally tuned and rally mods, its the exact same car its still a peugeot 206 and 206 engine. honda is better.. the 206 was a road car, so they needed to modifie it to be offroad, honda civic is also a road car and nneds extra mods to be off road like the 206. but subaru and evo are rally cars converted to road... so yes if we are gonna take the civic off road it would need mods like AWD.

No it's not. Converting a regular road-going 180hp Peugot 206 into a 300hp AWD turbo rally car costs alot of R&D and money. It's not as simple or ricey as slapping on a turbo, an extra driveshaft, and stickers. The handling on civics is good, but only as far as FWD cars go. Actually, The ZZT231 Celica handles better at close to 0.90g skid pad and 68mph slalom. Since Honda doesn't make AWD Turbo Civics for either production or for competition, it's retarded to claim Civics will dominate the WRC. Also, there are currently no aftermarket 'AWD conversion' parts for the 206 If your source DID do it, he spent too much money on a 'custom' RALLY conversion. Probably much more than just buying an EVO or STi.

I honestly wanted to know myself. As an WRC fan I would like to think they are doing it to provide a better WRC platform being a hatchback and all, but I seriously doubt that is the case.

The true reason, IMO, is they simply wanted to provide a more flexible and "family" oriented chassis.

Hatchbacks are very tricky to design in order for it to look good. Don't quote me on this but a revised rear end could be a possibility not long after its on sale. IMO, At least in America as it stands, this car simply will not sell. The flare of the WRX that everyone loved about the WRX is simply no where to be found in the 15S chassis.
