Cheney spent time in intel briefings constantly ramming the plan to go to Iraq. They knew little about Bin Laden and couldn't find him so they spent their time selling a different war. Obama at least allocated resources away from Iraq and he doesn't listen to thinktanks

Ya, MSNBC, nice diversion and brilliant tactic. As we now know, this has been going on for YEARS to find connections. You let it be known out loud that you are targeting someone and they hide deeper. Let him think you don't care (but secretly track any connection) and they will relax. Precisely how bin Laden got caught. He didn't think we were interested in him and he opens himself up. I don't think people understand how inconsequential killing Bin Laden is. President Bush was focused on the BIG picture, not chasing one man. Neither he nor President Obama should get "credit" for anything. It is the military and the intelligence community that gets the credit. President Obama was simply carrying through on what President Bush had started. Sadly, he was elected for his criticism of the very methods that lead to Bind Laden's death. IRONIC!

@CommonSenseJoe Actually he WAS focused on chasing just one man. Just not the right man. You can call it whatever you want but you and every American with a brain stem knows damn well he only went for Saddam to do what his father couldn't, and that was capture one single man who was not as much a threat as Osama Bin Laden, if at all. Also if you knew anything about military tactics you would know Obama's methods were different. He actually used subtlety and left the enemy in a veil of ignorance.

He went after someone who posed no threat to us, it was PROVEN and made public by our government that Saddam Hussein had no WMDs whereas Osama Bin Laden had already laid a devastating blow which on SEVERAL occassions has almost been repeated--

It is a proven fact that Saddam had and used WMD's in his own country. Where they went is beyond me. His army either destroyed them, or hid them. Obviously you don't understand why Saddam was executed. He killed his own people with his own WMD's. What's wrong with you? Can't you back up your claims?

@Nebraska2155 Yes Saddam just waved a magic wand and made it disappear, sorry but no evidence was EVER released that he had WMD's no reports in Iraq nor CIA intelligence, etc. So I haven't the faintest where you get your information but every single article, every report, our own government made it clear they found no WMD's and that there was no evidence of them ever being in his possession, it was simply a belief which began with Bush Sr. but was never, I repeat, NEVER proven by anyone

@CommonSenseJoe Not nearly to the same extent as 9/11 of course, however the threat still lingered. The fact remains, Bush should have seized Osama Bin Laden when he had the chance, yet he did not and instead went for Saddam, and had security in the airports not been so cautious we would have had many more 9/11's

@shawngamble No, chasing one man would have been a waste of time. President Bush invaded Iraq because HE knew that Bin Laden would send this fighters there instead of here. Bin Laden could not allow a free and democratic Iraq. Security is fine, but you cannot stop every threat. What you do is make your enemy come to you and confront with your strongest force.
