Dont believe what cardrivers think if they see a bus track secured by automatic bollards like this. Naturally these are supposed to let buses in (having a signal transponder inside ). But WHY(???) do some weirdos try to get over them also????

I know the area very well. Ther're huge signs all around the bollards warning that only buses and emergency vehicles will get through and that privare cars are nOT allowed to pass.

Those bollards are WIN. Only arrogant, ignorant and stupid people would even attempt to get through XD.

Any of these things will damage your car if you are stupid enough to drive into it. Like many things you may find on the road, the bollards play their part in controlling traffic flow and pedestrian safety.

If they're supposed to be like a stop light or something, then why not just have the auto-ticket camera lights, but other than that I can think of no fathomable reason to have a crash hazard IN the street. That is, as we've seen here, an accident just waiting to happen.

Outside of America buses usually don't stop to make sure passengers are in the bus. Ever been in the subway in Quebec, they open the doors before the subway train even stops.

The idea of "bollards" and such that could cause injury or obstruct traffic after an incident is ridiculously dumb. Only clear signage needed, instructing what to do (or not to do), then cops to firmly enforce. Violent physical barriers is NOT the answer. The reason the parents run to the back of the minivan is because one or more children were likely back there. Hilarious, eh? Sure hope those poor kids are hurt badly. That would show their parents about disobeying traffic laws, right?
