As for getting in with Thor, someone told me to try using a projectile assist to help. I'm thinking a beam like shot would work. Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like it'll work.

@Kuya1991 when youre in the corner, he hits you with the mighty smash it resets you, you can tech directionally here. if youre a newb, you will be bent on blocking which will keep you in the corner, allowing Thor to mighty hurricane you. however, if you tech toward Thor, away from the corner, he can't chase you or reach you with it.
long story short, when you get hit by the mighty smash, hold toward Thor and you get out for free.
Answer is simple :P Just work on your offense. Find creative ways to get people to block incorrectly and take advantage of their weaknesses if you know them. My team is literally based on opening people up. Wesker/Zero/Dormammu ftw. xDDDDD
@k4g7 Thats the best thing about Thor, he's a flexible grappler, if they keep blocking you need to use mighty Hurricane. Thats how you open them up. As long as you threaten with a command throw, they will always block incorrectly or react the wrong way because they are trying to avoid the throw. You don't always have to go for resets, if your opponent is constantly blocking, set them up for a command throw. Sometimes people are so fixed on blocking correctly they forget about moving too.
You can start this combo somewhat midscreen, but if you do that, replace the standing medium with a crouching hard before the standing launch, and it puts em in the corner by the aerial launch, even if not then, then you can still close the distance with the hard Mighty Smash. Also the crouching hard does more damage than the standing medium before the launch.
@Realmasterorder thats because you need to be really good to use him, he's very slow in this game but has powerful hits, and strikes. In the entire game Thor is probably my favorite character but I stopped putting him on my team because he's difficult to win with online. He's too slow, and his moves can be blocked before they're done. The other player always gets you before you hit them when you pick thor. For some reason they forgot that he has super speed abilities.
@BA0424 You just gotta have a good assist. I can use Thor pretty good... Well, I could until I started playing fucking high lord virgins. But anyway, Thor has a very good chin, he can take a hit and is pretty good against Sentinel. He's a powerhouse but if you must, use him first to build up specials and to cause some damage. Oh, and he's an air fighter too, try not to stay grounded too much.
@BushidothePhenom Yeah I'm using thor better but his slow blocking and striking make him get caught in nasty combos by faster players. He does have a pretty good chin, and his hits are powerful. My favorite against sentinel would have to be spiderman though. I usually do light crouchin kick, to mjlonir spin, then uppercut them into the air and follow up with an air combo into a special. Its sometimes difficult to get that spinning grab I see in this vid.
@BushidothePhenom his projectiles and mighty smash don't come as easy. I spend a lot of time blocking and evading with thor looking for an opening to combo. Leading an attack with him is extremely difficult though, he seems to be more of a counter character than an attacker like dante, or akuma. I agree with the assist option but every character should be able to get inside without the use of an assist. That is what confuses the heck out of me. Characters like akuma, and dante get inside so easy

@BushidothePhenom I'm only at fighter rank, the mighty smash is a good finish for a combo you're right. Otherwise the move just leaves you open to attack. I'd have the say the same about the flying/dashing mighty strike as well. I play on PS3 and I use a PS3 controller, no stick or anything like that. This game is damn good though when you get the hang of it and settle into a team of players, and have good competitive matches. It's difficult for the game to get boring bc im a big fan of marvel
@BA0424 Oh OK I just wanted to get an idea of who I was talking to ranking wise. Anyway, same here, I use controller on PS3. I just needed to know cuz the level of competition on PS3 is much higher than 360. Anyway, I've only seen one good Thor online and I'm a 4th Lord so its hard to learn from better players than myself (and Thor cost me like 40 losses). I don't have time right now but I'd like to learn a few hints & tips from ya and maybe I can do the same for you.
@BushidothePhenom no doubt but you're probably better than me with thor. When using thor I use him as a counter fighter if anything, he's not all that great at getting the first strike with people. But that "feel thors might" grab move is very useful if you can pull it off. Because thor is so slow in this game its all about timing, that mean as soon as the other player messes up you have to go in for the kill on an air combo to a mighty tornado
@BA0424 Yo whats your PSN? Imma add you so we can have some Thor matches. 2 of my buddies are also picking him up so the more Thors the better. One of em can get that Heaven's Wrath like 80% of the time while I can't but @ the same time I can do things he can't. It would be great to learn a few tricks from each other.
@BA0424 Another thing, you said Mighty Strike doesn't do anything for you but it should. It can be used as an Anti-air especially since it's safe on block and if you hit with the M version in or out of combo you can launch afterwards.

@BA0424 Yeah it can be blocked but 1 it stops their jump in which makes it good enough just by that and 2 even if it is blocked they aren't hitting you (I haven't tested it's safety but I'm assuming it's safe on block because the recovery is quite fast). It's a win win win situation.
@BA0424 I have to disagree with most of what you say, Thor is not slow at all. Maybe his H attacks are and he's not quite Wolverine or X-23 but his tools give him the speed. His square jump is more than fast enough, actually because it's a little slow it's trickier to block and he can triangle jump using L on his way down which is just as fast as any triangle jump. He's not that hard to use considering you learn his 1 BnB combo and you don't need much else since it's 680,000 damage.
@Chowdizzle I only say that because with Thor you have to be prepped to attack and when the clock is ticking and I have a time advantage I like characters like spider-man that can avoid all day until the clock runs out. I win a lot of my fights like that. I like thor because his power though.
@BA0424 That's why I use Thor as my first character, without assists he has a very hard time. Thor's stay away isn't great but he's not incapable. He can fly and Mighty Spark is a devious projectile. Only L version lol.

@EpicPremonition Well theres much more to the game than just combos man, the game has a large variety of tactics and playstyles with all the team possibilities which could potentially make each match different. If learning the easy combos gets stale for you then play some online matches, honestly 3rd strike has even easier combos than this game so I don't see what the problem is.
@LeftyHangsLower I agree with you that its not a legit combo but i think it will always work in matches since this game doesn't have megacrush like TVC. If you watch the video closely Captain America did not recover from the last hit before the mighty hurricane command grab. Meaning you can't avoid it if it's done fast enough. Plus knowing trag13 who makes combos videos on his spare time I'm certain that he was practicing with auto block on.
If the combo counter resets (hence the term 'reset'), then it's avoidable. In this situation, you have the option of air teching in place, air teching away or air teching toward (has invincibility); Thor has to guess what you'll do and adjust accordingly. It's difficult to avoid, but it's still possible.
@ericsayres I mean when you rebound in the air you have the choice to go forward or backward depending on which way you go Thor has to anticipate so it's a 50/50 mix-up.
@Cozby401 Have you seen/done that yourself though? If you haven't no offense but I can't trust what you say. It may look possible but that doesn't mean it is, just like the TvC examples I mentioned.

Yup i can see cheapness in this game already. 100% Perscent combos and Seth Killian calls this game Balanced but after from what i been seeing I don't think so. There's going to be a balance patch for this bullshit....

I'd have the say the same about the flying/dashing mighty strike as well. I play on PS3 and I use a PS3 controller, no stick or anything like that. This game is damn good though when you get the hang of it and settle into a team of players, and have good competitive matches. It's difficult for the game to get boring bc im a big fan of marvel

@BA0424 Oh OK I just wanted to get an idea of who I was talking to ranking wise. Anyway, same here, I use controller on PS3. I just needed to know cuz the level of competition on PS3 is much higher than 360. Anyway, I've only seen one good Thor online and I'm a 4th Lord so its hard to learn from better players than myself (and Thor cost me like 40 losses). I don't have time right now but I'd like to learn a few hints & tips from ya and maybe I can do the same for you.

@BushidothePhenom no doubt but you're probably better than me with thor. When using thor I use him as a counter fighter if anything, he's not all that great at getting the first strike with people. But that "feel thors might" grab move is very useful if you can pull it off. Because thor is so slow in this game its all about timing, that mean as soon as the other player messes up you have to go in for the kill on an air combo to a mighty tornado

One of em can get that Heaven's Wrath like 80% of the time while I can't but @ the same time I can do things he can't. It would be great to learn a few tricks from each other.

@BA0424 Another thing, you said Mighty Strike doesn't do anything for you but it should. It can be used as an Anti-air especially since it's safe on block and if you hit with the M version in or out of combo you can launch afterwards.

@BA0424 Yeah it can be blocked but 1 it stops their jump in which makes it good enough just by that and 2 even if it is blocked they aren't hitting you (I haven't tested it's safety but I'm assuming it's safe on block because the recovery is quite fast). It's a win win win situation.

@BA0424 I have to disagree with most of what you say, Thor is not slow at all. Maybe his H attacks are and he's not quite Wolverine or X-23 but his tools give him the speed. His square jump is more than fast enough, actually because it's a little slow it's trickier to block and he can triangle jump using L on his way down which is just as fast as any triangle jump. He's not that hard to use considering you learn his 1 BnB combo and you don't need much else since it's 680,000 damage.

@Chowdizzle I only say that because with Thor you have to be prepped to attack and when the clock is ticking and I have a time advantage I like characters like spider-man that can avoid all day until the clock runs out. I win a lot of my fights like that. I like thor because his power though.

@BA0424 That's why I use Thor as my first character, without assists he has a very hard time. Thor's stay away isn't great but he's not incapable. He can fly and Mighty Spark is a devious projectile. Only L version lol.

@EpicPremonition Well theres much more to the game than just combos man, the game has a large variety of tactics and playstyles with all the team possibilities which could potentially make each match different. If learning the easy combos gets stale for you then play some online matches, honestly 3rd strike has even easier combos than this game so I don't see what the problem is.

@LeftyHangsLower I agree with you that its not a legit combo but i think it will always work in matches since this game doesn't have megacrush like TVC. If you watch the video closely Captain America did not recover from the last hit before the mighty hurricane command grab. Meaning you can't avoid it if it's done fast enough. Plus knowing trag13 who makes combos videos on his spare time I'm certain that he was practicing with auto block on.

If the combo counter resets (hence the term 'reset'), then it's avoidable. In this situation, you have the option of air teching in place, air teching away or air teching toward (has invincibility); Thor has to guess what you'll do and adjust accordingly. It's difficult to avoid, but it's still possible.

You can choose to tech roll away in the air or not, and the Thor has to guess if you're going to roll or not, so it's a 50/50.

I used Ken cuz of the strider-like teleports but yeah im kinda bummed strider isn't in this time around.

Yup i can see cheapness in this game already. 100% Perscent combos and Seth Killian calls this game Balanced but after from what i been seeing I don't think so. There's going to be a balance patch for this bullshit....

@AirForceSterl The game is more balanced because every character has potential for a high damage combo, while in MvC2 there were only about 8 characters that could be good on point. Not many characters can withstand rushdown from mags or catch a keep-away storm.

Fight fire with fire, if you didn't like mvc2 because of this, then I recommend going back to SF4. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I'm only helping you avoid buyers remorse.
