Everybody has a different interpretation about this song. I respect yours. It so happens to be that my interpretation of it has to do with her mother. She usually does not sing ballads that are so touching. She always said that she tries to keep herself busy, in order not to think about it. She cried at her N.Y release for W.E, and dedicated the movie to her mother. The song may have been for W.E, but wrote a beautiful song wich happens to be dedicated to her mother.
