I agree with you that carrying knives is wrong as was this frankly irresponsible "order" as you put it.

I would point out however, any one mans (lay/scholar/otherwise) opinion is not binding upon Muslims in general but that some may choose to act upon it.

I dont see what Islam has to do with it.

The only religion, as far as I am aware, that requires the carrying of a knife is Sikhism, and then only as a form of identification, this is allowed in the UK.

Do you apply the same condemnation?

Living in such a turbulent society, Yes i do condemn it, they are still carrying an item which is dangerous...so of course i condemn it...others can get hold of such items whether in a confrontation with someone carrying one of these and use it against them..

So i dont really see why there is a difference, or why the question is put to me, or are you suggesting that a sikh is somehow different in the eyes of the law?

yes i understand what you mean, but this was the title becuase this wasthe subject mater at the time..Knives are so easy to conceal, carry and use, and to be honest, i dont think there will ever be any way of stopping people carrying them whether for self defense or offensive use..

Education of those who may use them may be the only way, however as per my video, many more impressionable teenagers etc might see others doing it and follow suit..

But what more canbe done..

well i dont reckon we alone can make a difference, sometimes we think something really needs to happen before people sit up and pay attention, but sure young men and women are stabbed everyday, likes its just normal.
