God I love Pittsburgh!!! Can't WAIT to move back! It's only when you move away, thinking you can do so much better, that you realize how great Pittsburgh truly is.
This vidio has some nice fly overs of the City, but we don't have farms that big, if you go into reserve township there are still farms, but not the sprawling ones they show here. And Pittsburgh has green mountains and some valleys that were too steep to build on but the many shots of the green valley with the river? haha... I certainly hope this wasn't a real promotional video because there is so much more they could show of Pittsburgh than these random shots with quotes.
Now make one with the pictures of the police riots at the G20! You could put the caption of "Number 1 in Education" over the video of police trapping Pitt students in a stairwell and gassing them.
Detroit is by far a very poor comparison. I think that this video is a fine example of Southwestern Pennsylvania as a whole, but who would search for a Southwestern PA flyover on youtube? Pittsburgh was the host city and therefore the means to demonstrate to the world the surrounding metro area is to call the video Pittsburgh Fly Over. Only a few miles outside the city you will find plenty of barns with cows in them. Look at Mt. Washington in the Fall and tell me it doesn't look like that.
Oh thank you Tyler! I live in Pittsburgh and that was meant as sarcasm, since Pittsburgh looks hardly anything like how it's presented in the video. I can understand how sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet. Insults, however, do, so congratulations. :-) (That was sarcasm as well. :-)
So what part of the video is not what Pittsburgh looks like? Pittsburgh, despite it's faults, insufficient roadways and county/city politics, is still one of most beautiful cities in the US. I think it's really a matter of opinion. Be proud of where you are from and if you don't like what you see work towards making it better.
I love pittsburgh, but when i think of the city, i definitely don't think of rolling hills and farm land. that's not really in the city of pittsburgh at all.
Yeah I was scratching my head for a minute, until I read your comment. Isn't Pittsburgh a rust belt city much like Detroit? You know.. With sprawling ghettos and projects and trailer parks. And plenty of prisons within and without the intimidate area
I wouldn't really say it looks like Detroit, but there are certain ghetto neighborhoods. There's only one prison. It looks like a small city not too urban, but not rural at all as the video shows. The farmland that is being shown is near Pittsburgh, but I would not represent it that way. They don't show the different neighborhoods at all in the video. I think that would make it more realistic.
@BarbarianRebellion It's far from that. It has it's rougher areas like any city, but it's one of the best places to live with all the diverse suburbs and great downtown atmosphere. Unlike other rust belt cities, Pittsburgh has transformed itself from a manufacturing center to education, health care, and business, and is now thriving from it's change.

i'm from pittsburgh and let me tell you something...............pittsburghers are so proud of this most beloved city! i moved away and now i am back...........thank goodness! no place like this great city! it is so beautiful, so unique, such a friendly place. i love it so. and oh yeah......
notice this video doesn't talk about how the city is Mafia run.
It also fails to mention that property taxes are so high that thousands are being kicked out of their homes each month.
it also fails to mention how each boro has it's own government wich is a total waste 175 of them (new york has 5)
the city is almost bankrupt, yet we're building a third new stadium and a tunnul under the river for steelers fans, while the bridges are collapsing onto the parkway.
Capitalism is crisis? Hmm... yeah I guess your probably right. Where did you write that comment from by the way? From a computer I'm guessing, right? A piece of technology that was made possible by the dynamics of capitalism. You're also commenting on a website that has grown leaps and bounds because someone somewhere had an idea, and was free to run with it and turn into something incredible And where did you get your computer. Im sorry, you built it with your own know-how? not from a store?
i can't help it that we have idiots running this town that have invited the elites and the wackos to our town. I just live here in "Shitsburgh". So come, have fun, protest if you have to, but please don't take your anger out on the "Average Joes" that live here. Thanks! - Peace, Dave
I'm french and visiting Pittsburgh after the G20 (just a coincidence), but if you want to bring more tourists here, you'll need to build some medium priced hotels downtown, if you're travelling in Pittsburgh , there is only very high priced hotels, and if you don't have a car, you need to spend 200$ a night to stay in downtown, it's the more expensive city in USA for travelers, and i travel each year in USA in a different city. You need to re-think your accomodation policy, it's a shame!
Big Money vid. for the big money. Ya I wish I was there. to use my first amenmend rights to inform, ed., both sides and see if the U.S. is on the right track. We pray it will be peacefull and good for Pitt. Scott (BUG)
Theres a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you cant take part, you cant even passively take part, and youve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and youve got to make it stop! And youve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless youre free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!
Pittsburgh's economy and community was devastated during the Reagan Dictatorship of the 1980's. The steel industry collapse left Pittsburgh devastated. Corporate America and The US Governments Republican Regime thumbed their nose at Pittsburgh. The nations banks told rust belt cities they were uneducated and deserved to have their homes foreclosed and cars repossesed. Now those same banks are being bailed out by us. Come to Pittsburgh be a part of history and make a change.

Pittsburgh is a very small city - a larger metropolitan area has affordable hotels. Don't be afraid of staying outside of the city proper.
