His fast playing is a lot less abstract and more in the "suspended " tension . He really got across a uplifting feeling here and with a lot of notes . Reminds me of how beautiful Axis Bold as love is , or one rainy wish . His speed is scary! you slow him down and his riffs make perfect sense . It's like he was able to tap into the knowledge of Aliens . He must have been time warping .Aliens probably really dug his shit and took him to their planet .

They must of felt a sense of complete euphoria, I know I did and I'm just watchin the vid. All the bulls**t posers, wanna be flashers, arpeggio flippin knotheads out there who think they're setting the world on fire or reinventing the guitar. After viewing, maybe all those pretenders can sit back down and learn what it means to really play with technique, grace, phrasing, speed, and outright emotion. I was at this show in 1992. All I can say is that when I hear Shawn play it just makes me feel love throughout my body. I know that is corny as hell but it's true. Some of the best shows I ever saw was Shawn and the Willy's at TJ Mulligans or Alfred's with 50-100 people in the place and Shawn just WAILING on the guitar. I heard "Get You Back" at TJ's long before he recorded it for "P of 10" and it was always one of my favorite songs from him. Man I miss him and his music.

It's insane that so many of Shawn's Live 'Powers of Ten' band gigs back then (over a 5 month period between 92 and 93) seem to have not been recorded. What a loss.

I was at this show! I can't friggin believe it! Finally a Shawn Lane show on Youtube that I was at. HOLY SHIT! I remember because at the time it was so hard to find places he was playing. He was at either Alfred's or Newby's and it was awesome because he was actually playing a bigger venue. Well, not much bigger, the New Daisy is like a big club on Beale (but it's bigger than Alfred's). Man, he fucking blew everyone away, as usual, that night.
