let me put it this way buddy guy was so good in the 60,s hendix went to see him play and was in awe just look it up on youtube and you will see the video buddy guy is the best blues guitarist alive today along with bb king
this man has zero playing skills i show this video one of the girl he said who is that man who cant play and she is very good in music. i said that this is man who plays that he can play he cant but he can put on show and hide that and most of people need great show not boring clapton like nice play. he is alive that is important all else is matter of taste .
@nickaidanholden Really? I am sorry you are so threatened by someone having a different opinion than you espouse. Are you a musician? If so you wouldn't be so quick to defend his playing.
Just as a side note, are you unable to spell that, or you're, or you?
@nickaidanholden Actually, I am not judging him on just this vid. I have worked stages with him and others of his level of notoriety, and he just can't hold his own. He is very enigmatic and has a great stage presence. He can get a crowd sitting in the palm of his hand. He is a very, very nice guy, but when you stack him up against BB King, Muddy Waters, Lonnie Brooks, Ry Cooder, even Eric Clapton he doesn't hold up. .
@bashfulbrother Interesting, I think a similar way about Clapton! For me he is nothing special, actually I think BBKIng is also overrated (as a player, not as a singer)...as for Buddy, I would rather watch him than any of the others, not so much for his playing (though I think you are going a little too far) but for his amazing voice, great performances and audience interaction...his performance of Skin Deep on the Letterman show is really great from my subjective point of view..
@BobMcboyle I will never disagree that he has an amazing stage presence and knows how to put a crowd in the palm of his hand. He is very alive on stage. As far as Clapton and King, they aren't shredders, they are true blues guitar players. BB King has had more influence on blues and rock players than probably anyone else besides Chuck Berry. And you aren't going to like this, but I think that Chuck is sloppy as well.
Music is like ice cream, you might like strawberry while I like orange.
@bashfulbrother yes, I agree...music is in the ear of the beholder and technique is a multi-faceted thing, most people are obsessed with speed, but what about for example rhythmic fluency, dynamic expression etc etc but while music is subjective, as players we can see when non-musicians over-rate a guitar purely from the point of technique...Clapton is a better technician than Buddy, but for me he is pretty bland, vocally and as a player..of course for someone else it's a different reality..
@BobMcboyle Neither is right, they are all a matter of personal taste. If you love Buddy, good. I don't say that he isn't a blues star, I just think his guitar playing could use some work.
Do me a favor and go check out this vid.
John Williams - J. Rodrigo - Adagio from Concierto de Aranjuez
He is not a blues player but he is impeccable in precision and articulation. Not one sloppy or muddy note.

@supralee too bad your English is so bad no one can understand you.
shamanjon 2 months ago
@shamanjon Christ..make sense will you? You can't write logically in English, that's
for sure. Don't reply, you're boring and stupid. Buddy Guy is a legend in
blues. This is a lesson he's giving, not a concert. Stay with Lady Gag gag
and Britney Spears..more your speed.

@supralee <---ENGLISH IS BAD. Maybe you can understand that.

I never will understand the fascination with this guy. He is sloppy, inarticulate, and plays at a very amateurish level.JMO

@bashfulbrother i hope ur jocking
nickaidanholden 5 months ago
@nickaidanholden No I'm not jocking (whatever that is), I am also not joking. Buddy guy is the sloppiest blues player on the planet.
Just because he knows how to play a dorian scale over a 1-4-5 progression and he is black, doesn't mean that he is a blues master.
Really pay attention to what he is doing. It is slop.

@BobMcboyle Yeah, I agree entirely. Music played from the heart is far superior to that which is played by technical perfection.
I will say that Buddy can really get a crowd going.
He has a great grin when he plays too.
bashfulbrother 5 months ago
@bashfulbrother so.. you're sayin' chopin played from his ass rather than from his heart?
*given that his music is pretty "technical"

@erolr900 Don't know why you are asking this. Chopin and Guy are two entirely different disciplines.
If you are looking for an argument, you won't get one from me. If you think I am wrong, more power to you. Have a great day.

@BobMcboyle I have to agree with you on Clapton. His main break was that he came out of Great Britain during the first "English Invasion".
He was in Cream and they were nothing more than a jam band, but they were late 60's.
All of the the hippie generation loved him, and he just stayed active.
I do know that he is a blues expert. There isn't a blues song that he doesn't know or is not able to play.
