  • You motivate me to keep learning. I'm at the moment failing Friedman's solos. Can You tell me is it better to sit for hours and learning by ears or using tabs? How much time it took you to learn your first covers?

  • @sickarpeggio66 Do it by tabs. By learning to read tabs you'll get to know the neck and thus also train your ears in the process. It usually took me maybe four hours or so, one hour every day. You'll learn more per hour if you split it up since your muscle memory and brain actually processes what you've learned when you sleep, I guess.

  • one of my favorite covers in youtube. this has always been my favorite song of theirs. :)

  • you should cover some deth songs from countdown to thirteen; like Dialectic Chaos, Kick The Chair,Elysian Fields, Headcrusher, Ashes In Your Mouth, Loved To Deth, KIMB, and The Skull Beneath The Skin. Definitely something from Endgame and KIMB

  • @xcamero360 That's cool, because 71% of those you listed are at the top of my list! "Elysian Fields" aren't really my cup of tea however, and I'm not sure about "Kick the Chair". Thanks for the comment!

  • You are fucking god!

  • SwedishBerzerker, I'm currently learning guitar and I was hoping you answer this question for me. How long did it take you to get to the point where you could learn songs like this?

  • @DecapitalPunishment By the time I made this cover: About four years of 1h/day practice.

  • @SwedishBerzerker Thanks man. Any tips?

  • @DecapitalPunishment Look for my video called "Practice routine" or something like that.

  • covered it like a boss!

  • God damn! Beastly

  • Grymt bra spelat. VIKING POWER!

  • @AxyoN100 )( >: D>

  • man! yor´re so fuckin´ good!!

  • Not trying to be a thumbs up whore but who the fuck could dislike this?!

  • @QCguitarcoverQC Both, actually!

  • Wow, the soli were cleaner than an nun's cunt. Respect for being that accurate.

  • @DreamPurpleFloyd Holyshit that made me LOL

  • i don'y know...

you ate when you were kid?

I congratulate you for the great talent you have as a musician, I'm sure that Dave Mustaine and Friedman Martyn surprised to see so neatly!

    You are fantastic!

    my regards from Argentina!

  • @guillekate Say what?

    Thanks! :)

  • @SwedishBerzerker

sorry my english is not good XD

you are a big guitar player and no more XD

  • @guillekate Haha ok :P

  • It sounds better with down strokes only on the beginning o.O

I use your video with tabs for the solo:) great vid

  • Hey joel wen u gonna get sum more of ur awsome covers up :p we need more of ur godly guitar skills :):):)

  • @Thepublicimage2010 Thanks for your interest mate, my new cover of Liar has been done for a week now, but I can't find a format Youtube supports without fucking my audio up. The video gets out of sync after one minute, and it isn't the original video... -.-

  • gonna see megadeth live!

    really good cover

  • if i know how to sweep pick but its isolated and i need to know how to incorporate it into solos would this be a good song to study? or is there a better one perhaps?

  • @MilesE94 There really aren't THAT many sweeps in this song, I'd recommend checking out Children of Bodom's "Kissing the Shadows" or Malmsteen's "Black Star". Or Necrophagist, mwahahah.

  • @MilesE94 if you really want to work on sweeping try perpetual burn by jason becker

  • My penia €=====8

  • uff le quedo muy bacanaa buena esaaa

  • you just gaved me the inspiration to cover this song myself, I'll put it on when i do :)

  • Very clean. Nice cover and hair. <3

  • Good Job

  • ImI

  • :) <3 <3 <3 hi <3

  • You have mastered hangar 18..... now 13,20!!! =O

  • @BanthaPoodoo94 I'm on my way to make covers again, but I'm currently editing my next music video :P

  • @SwedishBerzerker Thanks for the tips, "Like" and sub goes to You. Why, dont you make Hoy Wars cover? I like it so as ur covers. That would be great! Greets form Poland

  • @Marvius1991 Thank you too :) I saw you find you way to my Holy Wars cover, but don't forget there is a newer version!

  • Wow Holy shit dude! I've just started playing for 18 months now and I'm learning pretty quick. ACDC Metallica Santana shit I could play a few. Wish I could play like that. Any tips?

  • @gravedigga1231 Thanks! Continue learning songs to get a grip on what types of techniques there are and learn them. Since you're fairly new, try holding your index finger on any fret and tap your middle finger continously as fast as you can for as long as you can and rest for 40 seconds. Repeat three more times. Do that every time you're about to practice/play. Play songs to get your hands coordinated and once you're ready, learn alternate picking and shredding ;)

  • @pkw0112 I know the song in my head and learn the tabs note by note. I have the song in my earphones as I record.

  • man could you tell me who do you edit your videos??

  • @JoniHdz95 The program's in the description, but I wouldn't recommend since it's very old (2005). I put the song in one track, my guitar audio from my mp3-player in one track, and the video in one track, and sync the mall together basically.

  • @SwedishBerzerker Well, this is a bit complicated, because i don't have regular time to practice my guitar skills. I'm a construction worker, and i come back to home tired. Therefore, at fall or winter, when i have more time for myself, i can practice every day for 2-5 hours, however, at summer, when i have a lot of work to do, i practice for about 2-3 hours at 3-4 days weekly. Also sometimes, i play with my friends, (guitarist and drummer). Maybe i will post some video soon. Greet's from Poland

  • @Marvius1991 2-3 hours/3-4 days/7 seems good. It's pretty much the same amount of hours per week I do. But it also depends on what you're doing. Just playing songs probably isn't as effective as practicing scales and chops.

  • I "play" on guitar for 1,5 year. What i saw on your video looks just.... IMPOSSIBLE. I cant imagine how long should i practice to reach your level.

  • @Marvius1991 The amount of years you've been playing isn't very interesting, instead, tell me also how many hours you spend every day or week. When I made this cover, I'd been practicing 1h/day almost every day for about four years IIRC. So you've probably got some time left to improve ;)

  • Awesome job!

  • I agree with you too, I think this song contains one of Friedman's best solos too. Also, you nailed that solo well it gave me goosebumps haha. Good Job!

  • Haces que paresca sencillo tocas muy bien!!!!!

  • You inspire me, man. You make it seem too easy (:

  • @Godishs Thanks! :)

  • i think marty should not have his great ledgendary guitar skills to be honest look at this masterpiece and he would rather spend his guitar skills playing shitty ballads in japan

  • @guitar11339 ROFL Search "japan TV Cooking show Marty Friedman 2-2"!

  • that is one massive solo to play u play better than all the guitar video tutors out there

  • @saleshsoman Thanks man! :)

  • i even checked out the version they played at lick library but i must say u mastered it well

  • Great cover!

    This song is very difficult...

  • fuck man. i can barely play the rhythm part and i've been practicing it for a week now. you make me wanna give up.

  • very very nice congratulation

  • Your descending run at 3:13 is the most accurate non-Marty version I have seen on youtube. Most people screw that part up, but it really lends an exotic air to the solo....nice work man, you nailed it

  • Nice shirt... Oh, the cover is pretty good too

  • genio

  • kickass cover man

  • yeah well played ,,and great execution on the solos

  • great cover. congrats

  • We found Chris Brodericks replacment

  • Nice Cover, Badass Guitar,JACKSON FOREVER \m/

  • very exact cover man, what scale can i use for an improvisated solo instead of martys exoyic one.?

  • @yang31493 It depends which solo you're talking about? This song changes key a few times.

  • @SwedishBerzerker yes, i know, i was takling abuot the longer solo when the song changes into f sharp minor i wonder what scale is marty using?, thanks for answer

  • BIG 4 IMORG... IDAG!! :D

  • @LBGuitarMaan Får se det på tv :/

  • Your tone is fucking awesome.

  • That last post was suppose to say the same material I was playing back in the day

  • @brokenlambof Ah, I see. Well, have I?

  • Nice job .. its cool to see someone ur age playing the same material back in the day.. I'm looking to see if u covered one of my songs haha .. I can appreciate all ur work.. keep it up man .. BTW,love this song

  • @brokenlambof I know lots of people into this kind of music, far from 30 years old. The dimension of time doesn't exist in metal, people in my age will still listen to Megadeth in 20 years, unless metal dies, but it won't. Metal PREVAILS >:D One of your songs? What do you mean? Thanks!

  • amazing cover , i have a few questions , how long have you been playing to do this , im only approaching my 2nd year of playing now and i plan on learning mustaines part of this song( not going near friedmans solos at all not even gonna glance haha) im just wondering how long it took you to learn they full song cause its frickin insane

  • @H20Sparda Thanks! When I made this cover, I'd been playing for 1h/day, about 300 days a year for four-five years, plus an extra year of just learning acoustic guitar and open chords but no real practicing. When I made my "Wake Up Dead" cover (search for "Megadeth - Wake Up Dead (cover) (old)") back in 2007 I had like two years of said habit. Usually it takes two-three days to learn a song (memorize), but it may take longer if it''s difficult, like this one.

  • @SwedishBerzerker il look up that cover , so this was done after 5 and a half years practice or so , i know it in my head ( mustaines parts) some sections are just plain hard to nail and hurt the hand alot but i plan on getting it all down in another year or 2 id say

  • hey you should do a lesson for the solos man. =]

ang thanks btw I wanna learn this song and was having alittle trouble with the transition fingering. watching the way you did it helped me out. so thanks even though u didnt mean to help! =]

  • @hesh6395 Sorry, I only do lessons when there aren't any good tabs for it, like "I Ain't Superstitious". No problem! :)

  • are you Marty?

  • \m/ keep it up dude that was great

  • Damn you, you make it look so easy!

  • ARRECHO!!!!

  • Siiiiccckkkk!!!

  • perfect really nice ;)

  • Great job dude! I love that tune!

  • Awesome cover

  • nu får du min hangar 18 cover att se dålig ut :( min är inte ens synkad hahahahaha :P

  • what amp do you have?

  • Greetings bro! Check out my cover because I watched yours ten times! : D

  • Joel you need to shock everyone and upload a comfortably numb cover lol

  • @asadlfc90 Haha \m/

  • We're jamming soon!

  • @SwedishBerzerker ive never touched an electric guitar but ive been playing classical for 4 years...and i agree that if i buy one i should start with metallica and some older easier metal classics... also another question have u ever played iron maiden?

  • @Chrissss698 Then you should have some strength and habit in your fingers - you should be able to play Enter Sandman, no doubt. Try Peace Sells to practice one of the biggest differences between classical and electric - the right hand, palm muting and chugging on the E-string. If you get it, try Holy Wars or Wake Up Dead. Nope, I've never really been a fan of them. They have some good songs, but I didn't really get into them.

  • About to give this song a try. Awesome job too.

  • very very very good dude!!!im thinking of buying an electric guitar soon (first one ;P)....would u say megadeth is hard to play?

  • @Chrissss698 Thanks! Cool, have you played any guitar before? If not, Megadeth will definitely be too hard. Try something easier, like "Enter Sandman" or something. If you can play that, you could try "Peace Sells".

  • Ignore my last comment I didn't read the description first, sorry!!!

  • @spazman46 It's alright!

  • @SwedishBerzerker I have been playing guitar for about six months and i got down dread and the fugitive mind already. I decided last night to try and learn this song and i got it up until the first solo. Would you recommend me going on and trying to learn the rest or try something easier? If so, what song?

  • @CoopertiveChampion Did you manage to learn the solo? Or is there a specific part of the solo you simply can't learn?

  • @SwedishBerzerker I have learned about two thirds of the first solo and its kinda hard. i know if I practice all day and may be tomorrow too I can learn the rest of the solo and possibly play it fast. But I havn't developed kallises or whatever on my fingers yet so it hurts when I have to do those high bends.

  • @CoopertiveChampion If it's not completely out of your league, I see no reason not to continue. About the calluses, you might want to take break for a week or so to let them grow for a bit. Or at least, don't bend or disturb the skin in any way.

  • @SwedishBerzerker Thanks for the help man, and I couldn't stop playing guitar for an hour lol

  • @CoopertiveChampion Alright, good luck! :P

  • Nice, epic cover, is your guitar a Jackson warrior?? I can't tell, I was thinking of getting that model but I got the Jackson Kelly instead, also what are your amp settings and everything, it'd be great to get my guitar to sound as good as yours, thanks!!

  • dude wtf!!! that was epic...saludos desde costa rica...

  • Dare I say best cover on YouTube?

  • why would people really thumbs down this video

  • you rock \m/\m/

  • Nicely done.

  • Beast!

  • I freaking love you camera work on your videos man. Its add to the AWESOMENESS of the songs! Good Job!

  • @MyDickboy Thanks dude! I thought all covers with webcams were too boring and low quality you know.

  • @SwedishBerzerker Yeah they are pretty boring, just some dude sitting there and no one really knows if theyre playing or just pretending but with you, you can tell you actually take the time to learn these badass songs. Fuck yeah man! \m/

  • What Jackson is that? Your guitar has a nice clean? EMG pickups? Did you take lessons to become a musician or you have done it by yourself?

  • @Eduardosidcardoso It's all in the description, and nah, the cleans aren't too good with EMG and 6505. Yeah I'm self-taught, but I did take some lessons in the very beginning though, just open chords and all that.

  • Again, awesome cover. Hanger 18 is a very complicated song, it defeated me a couple times already. Its also cool that you use the same pick as I do!

  • If Megadeth needed a guitarist... you should be in at the top 3 :D

  • washburn case in the background, jackson guitar in the hand... im savin up for a jackson kelly and workin on hangar 18. Taking me a looong while to get the song down and a longer time to save up for the kelly. gj on the cover man... btw, is that a jackson soloist?

  • @dauntSilver I needed to put my Washburn somewhere, so I decided to put in it on the couch. Thanks, nah, 'tis a Warrior!

  • @SwedishBerzerker oh yeah it is a Warrior duh. lol. so Ive got two questions. how long have you been playing and how long did it take you to learn all of Hangar 18?

  • @dauntSilver About five years of regular practice 1h/day 300 days/year. Hard to say, I've learned it several times, and didn't really nail it until this cover.

  • cover trust from megadeth and elimination from overkill :D

  • @alexroacker24 Sorry dude, but those are not on my list :/

  • awesome man

  • dood ur fuckin good!

  • Is a Excellent job!

  • For the faster licks in the solos, does every note have to be picked? Or are there legato hammer-ons and pull-offs in certain parts?

  • @fakeoutt It depends on what solo you're thinking of. It's usually all picking.

  • awesome done !!!

  • na echt gail :)

  • those friedman solos must be fun to learn

  • @hemisk1378 Yeah, on Mustaine solos I can usually just take a look at the notes longer than 16ths, and thn improvise the rest. On Friedman's on the other hand you have to learn every note.

  • Comment removed

  • très bien,bonne continuation

  • Haha awesome man. The MEGADETH shirt makes it even more awesome XD

  • Wow man you actually make this song look easy... is it? I mean, I don't play guitar, but I thought this solo was like one of the hardest to play.

  • @MrDrunb It has some of the harder Megadeth solos, yes, akin to Five Magics.

  • so far...so good...so what?, is )v(egadeth)-(!!!

  • MEGADETH 4TW!!!! My fav band!

  • you are a hell of a guitarist man. I enjoyed this!

  • Could you plz perfor Trivium's song?

  • @01084666906 Trivium's alright, but it's just that no matter how many songs and bands I want to cover, I can't cover them all. Lately I haven't had any time to make any covers at all. I'm sorry, but I probably won't do any Trivium. I'm not really a fan either. And I don't think I can learn very much by learning their solos.

  • amazing!!

  • my face just melted!

  • the dislike is a justin bieber fan

  • :DDDDDDDDDDD

  • my mind is blown that is epic!

  • HOLY SHIT THAT WAS EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hah, I have that shirt

  • that was superb it makes my version of hanger18 look pathetic - very professional ur a great guitarist

  • @stjames841 Thanks man!

  • GREAT!!!

  • Fucking amazing men.

  • °J° You're a GOD!

    MEGADETH!

  • @TheCharliesMan Thanks man!

  • Thanks for the upload dood! im 17 now and I've been wanting to learn this :) watching you play is prolly 20 times more effective than a tab xD

  • @999storm999 Thanks man! I'm 18 in a couple of weeks so we're about the same age :P

  • you are crazy man!!

  • WOW! Fantastic!!

  • can you please tell me how log have you been playing?I play for 3 months and i'm just able to cover the rythm.

  • @robyra20 When I did this one I was one week away from my 17th birthday, and I've been playing regularly one hour/day 300 days a year since I was maybe 13, though I started learning basic chords and all that on the acoustic when I was 12.

  • Are you really Swedish or is this just what the media wants us to believe?
