I just saw this documentary and I thought it was so inspirational and enlightening. But I wonder why boys get autism more then girls do. I also wonder if people with autism can also experience other things like sexual preference.. it's not meant to offend just a thought.

With autism, there is always a mourning period, because you have to let go of your previous expectations of what your child's life will be like. If you can get through that, avoid blaming yourself, accept your child for who they are, things will be much easier. Find other parents, find a network, get on a parent email forum, find the support you need and share whatever it is you are feeling, because you need to realize you are not alone. Go see or read "The Horse Boy." Find a new begining...

@RomneyGack because your sad and stressed n u wish he was normal so people dont look at him like a freak im telling u this because i feel the same way but i dont care that my son is autistic i love him the way he is n everytime i see someone look at him and laugh or something i ignore them , autistic kids are special not less and they r the most inteligents creatures on earth :)

@RomneyGack. Allow yourself to go through all the stages of grief. When my children were diagnosed it was heartbreaking. Dreams and expectations I had were gone. Learn it, live with it, and allow them to become who they are not what you think they should be. Love them for who they are and you will see that it becomes a blessing
