people need "brands" to identify themselves... the point is... even a non brand product is a brand in fact... an anti-brand... it's way too much psychology in there...
Not sure that is correct, apple is the best in your opinion. You can build your own comp that make anything apple makes look like a toy for a 5 year old child.
It is TRUE! As a 16 year old myself I can tell you guys that people in my class doesn't even know what a processor is but they claim the iPhone 4 to be the best phone in the market till now. They don't know what RAM is, they don't know what shit is. All they know is Apple, and just because of that, they worship the brand. Just because something is expensive or trending it doesn't mean that it's the best. I don't buy that shit, literally.
@Undergroundhiphoop Using the iPhone 4 as an example of people purely worshipping a brand is a MASSIVE mistake the processor inside the iPhone 4 is clocked at 800MHz which on paper seems underpowered but it also packs in an impressive GPU on the same chip which makes it one of the best single core CPU chips in a phone. Period. The iPhone 4 has a lot more quality hardware inside it, which for the money is a very good deal. iOS is also a very good operating system although I prefer Android myself
Inaudible frequencies like 7hz are reffered to as low frequeny rumble and are usually cut out of tracks in all music, even in sub bass heavy genres like dubstep. And it's not "felt", espacially not on a heapdone:P But for a headphone company to not be giving out specs, that's just retarded. You are right to be pissed off about that.
the only reason people think PC are ugly cause they looked in the local computer shop. Show them a custom made PC and they ll be err hmm err hmm PWNED MAC PRICKS
I can't agree enough! Everytime someone recommends to buy a particular BRAND of whatever instead of a spesific model (especially when it comes to electronics for obvious reasons) it just makes it so obvious that they don't actually know and/or care what the product does - so long as it is of the right friggin brand. Branding exists purely to exploit our human brains tendency to choose the familiar over the unknown - even when the details show us it isn't nessecarily better. Its bullshit.
You forgot to mention the part in the Pledge "... and the Republic for which [the flag] stands..." Perhaps it's still "branding" but at least it's the branding of an ideology and not some arbitrary set of colors and shapes on a piece of fabric.
I dare anyone to tell me why Mac's are better for audio engineering... and don't give me "because they are" or "because that's what everyone uses" (appeal to popularity fallacy). I can run all the same hardware and software, and even MORE plugins on the PC... Mac's are better for audio engineering? BULLSHIT!
@freedom0speech Only reason I see that Macs are.. better?.. then PCs doing things like, photo-, movie- or sound edits, is because there are less things that clutter the hard drive and RAM, like my comp, I got so much stuff going in the background I only have like 80% of my RAM to my disposal, while Macs don't have that problem, because, well, noone uses Macs.
Sure I COULD clear out the autostart, or remove things im not using all the time, but I'm lazy, wich is why I have Windows and not Linux.
The cult of brand might have a little bit of fear factor built into it. If I bought a Honda, and it ran for 10 years without breaking down, I might buy another one just to be on the safe side. People tend to stick with what they know. This may be irrational thinking but when it comes to a major purchase, we feel like we can't take a chance. @Wittgensteinism It's true that brand name is a deciding factor for a lot of people. What's "hip" and "in-style" is what the population demands, and so these brands fill in the need of the population. I can list examples of brands that have power over the consumers. Apple products, Bose, Dr. Dre Beats, Ray Bans, Nikes, and other BIG names (I don't know much about female brands, but they are powerful too). Brands show status and wealth, and people feel more self confident owning these products.

@Wittgensteinism For one thing, you're the one who sounds conservative, anti-technology and all that shit, not Az, who represents the very opposite tendency. The fact that you can't see it scares me.
@nactan What have i ever said that you saw or heard that is conservative or anti-technology?
I certainly said no such thing on THIS video. You evidence this by mentioning the fact that i was attempting to criticize Azlan for being anti-technology and conservative. Ask yourself this.. if i WAS conservatice and/or anti-technology, why would i be accusing Azlan for being those things if i meant it as an attack on his commentary (which it clearly was)?
99% of the systems your dubstep will be playing through wont be able to reproduce the extended low end frequency that you feel. You may get better results by rolling off the bass below 40 hz and boosting barely around 60-100hz. This allows your amplifiers to operate more efficiently, without overloading or peaking, and it will be perceived as a more booming sound.
Also, during the mastering process, run the mixed down 2 track through a multiband compressor, and smash the low, before limiting.
dont know if ull read this, but i hope u do.. DONT go by the specs when it comes to speakers, holy fuck are u retarded. all tht shit is a lie anyways. i have a shit rated for 10 000 watts tht doesnt even come close in comparison with other shit i have rated for 300 watts. the music listening industry doesnt give a fuck about testing, they just write what ever they want. besides, who the fuck makes music at 7hz?? not even dub step does tht. besides speakers dont matter much, its all about the amp
Aha! Azrienoch! I remember you from back in 2006/7 when youtube first started - I remember you were really quite popular back then.. why only 18k subscribers?!!?
@T800System I don't know about popular... Don't think I ever hit more than 1000 before 2008. Anyway, I chalk it up to inconsistent posting. Makes it easier to blame something I could help if I had the motivation.
i don't see why you compare the emotional bond to flags to brand fanboyism. why always assume the abstract solution? pledging allegiances to a flag because of its symbolic nature rather than because it has replaced the values of the country it ought to represent is more obvious, isn't it?
I work in the field of acoustic engineering and can tell you precisely why Bose is NOT the best--nowhere near it... That is if you're interested in the subject, beyond the scope of your anecdote (which was quite entertaining.)
During colors everyone else would stop their cars so they could sit there and block the road in respect to the striped and decorated cloth on the flagpole but I always had my stereo on and I never knew when colors was playing, so I would get stuck behind other cars and start to honk at them because I had no idea why they were stopped. Then I would open my window to yell at them and hear the very end of colors and I woud always think to myself "why am I being forced to show false respect?"
I was in the Air Force for four years...and yes...that shit is retarded. I'd always leave my headphones on and just keep walking when I was in civilian clothes on the base, because I could just feign ignorance of the bullshit music playing so as to subvert my need to stop and spend 5 minutes with this superficial display of respect. The best part was that no one could run after me to stop me for the music without being a hypocrite. Even if they did, they never faulted me thanks to my headphones.
lol love the mac rant, im quite partial to a hackintosh myself, i like osx for fucking with sound, midi and osc and window/linux makes it complicated haha, you recorded any of that dubstep? if so is it CC and where can i hear it :P?
I should defend apple fans here. Not one mac user that I know would refer to themselves as "macs." Some people use OSX because they are stupid and need an "easy" operating system -- I presume these are the people you are talking down upon. Many of us, however, use them because we need a bit more than Windows can deliver. I don't care how any of my macs look (yes I have 6 or 7). You know what machines run Windows 7 the best? Oh yeah -- Apple machines! And yes you can easily touch it's innards.
@LouTheDesigner you actually said that macs run windows 7 the best?please explain how since they use the same components as any other PC and if you put windows on it it becomes any other PC
Oh I might also add that the company's goal has simply been to make better headphones than anyone else, but not to use specs as a means of misguiding people.
So originally they proposed to do that and if they got the name as the best developers then they've done their job.
This video intrigued me so I did research. After looking through the company's past I found out that Dr Bose bought speakers when he was young because the specs were great, but when he used them they were shit.
After 40 years of research the company has yet to find measurements (specs) that translate into actual sound quality (frequency is really just physics).
So hopefully you read this, hopefully it makes you re investigate.
I think you're making a sweeping generalization about Mac users. I would never call myself a "mac" (nor would any other apple owner that I know). I could care less about how any of my macs look (I own 4). And yes, you can touch its innards very easily. It took me ONE screw to open my iMac and install RAM. Installing new graphics cards is a very easy process as well. There are people that use macs because they are dumb and need an easy going OS, and others who use them because they are smart.
Incidentally: among True Audiophiles, Bose are regarded as not very high quality at all. The drivers are very cheap and their flagship speakers are so naturally unflat in frequency response they come with an eq (made of really bad, cheap parts).
The frequency response measurements can be deceiving. If it's 2Hz-200KHz -200dB, then you shouldn't expect a wide fr. Check the iStuff 808 Bass for a genuine audiophile bargain. Don't be put off by the price. My featured channel vid has a bit of advice about tech manufacturing cost (from a manufacturer in the UK--not affiliated with iStuff).
Apple computers are a ripoff and Bose sucks dick! Anybody who considers themselves a true audiophile knows this. Bose shit sucks at all levels. From their computer speaks all the way up through their high end home theater speakers. Even their car audio solutions are garbage. As far as Apple goes I would never own a Mac PC although I somewhat enjoy my macbook. OSX is a decent OS but there is not a single thing I can do on my mac that I cannot do on my PC. But the inverse is far from true.
of coarse america is a brainwashing cult. They dont want you to realize that. If you dont give the government your money when they say so, they will steal your car, your house, your job, your freedom. Your only free if you pay off the cult to leave you alone. God bless america.
Okay, I'm sick of this fuckin' bullshit where you are just hangin out, just partyin away with some other assholes that the rest of us don't know who the fuck they are, and aren't cool enough to go to that motherfuckin park place in social mode, in the second place, because the Keg may have been tapped in ways that are not especially clairvoyant to those of us who would like another silly exposition irrelevant to a "Graduation Supper".
I find it hilarious that you are drinking BRAND X ENERGY DRINK (which looks suspiciously like Redbull) whilst making this.
Also, I look around and I find my pair of Skullcandies lying on the table next to me. Are there better headphones out there? Probably. Are there cheaper headphones out there? Definately. Are there cheaper AND better ones? Maybe. Why don't I go find out then? BECAUSE I AM LAZY.
I am not big on brands. I avoid them if all possible, but sometimes it's inescapeable. Char limit
I agree that the cult of brand is a pervasive problem, but I will point out that there do exist a number of jobs that cannot be effectively completed with PCs (as you point out, graphic design, music, film editing - unless you're willing to shell out thousands for AVID (the apple of film editing), you need a mac). I do like me some linux, but a lot about mac is its accessibility and ease of use.
And America/Bose is awful. I have Ultimate Ears because they are the best in-ear monitors out there.
Completely agree with you. Especially regarding Mac. The whole Bose thing seems to be focused on how small the speakers are, which is redundant to me because I like big speakers. Massive speakers! I likez to watch them reflex, its very sexually symbolic, and entertains all involved. I bought a pair of Panasonic headphones a few years ago, and they have been great. I think part of the Mac appeal is how well it goes with Ikea furniture, and it's aesthetic compliance with Gap clothing lol
1stly, i'm a diehard mac fanboy (yeah, i'll go ahead and use that word) after having owned and used pcs from a large variety of manufacturers for around a decade. then i used a mac for 2 months, ended up with my own, and haven't looked back since.
2ndly, i'm a dj; in the past when i knew less about headphones i had 2 pairs of bose triport headphones that didn't last. i recently got a pair of sennheiser hd 280 pros - they're infinitely better than the bose phones were.
dude, this rocks lol. Thank god I have youtube nowdays cause my T.V.... yeah me and my T.V. played baseball a while ago, and uh, yeah, hehe, that motherfucker hates baseball.
Wow, the Bose/Apple comparison is becoming more and more popular. It's true though, they're both cults of brand. You're buying a fairly mediocre product primarily for the logo.
Talking about his novel, "Ubik," Philip K. Dick pointed out a funny translation for that book's German edition, which rendered the original sentence of Ubik's "I am the word," as, "I am the brand name."
I've found this phenomenon occurs as well within top 40 pop music. A record executive takes a shit and names it Lady Gaga. Then he hands it to all of us and says "Eat it! Not because its good, but because I shit it." and everyone gets out their spoons.
I have a cult following, who's object of worship is mah cock, uhhhn. Speaking of which, I once whomped a girl (to dubstep) so hard that she walked with a wobble for a week.
Like one of those curio brands of yogurt...ya know...seemingly nutritious, but essentially nothing more than laxative...not something I intend to talk about with my dad
the cult of brand as he swigs on his red bull. couldnt you have siomply just injected pure carbs and caffeine in your veins instead of paying 6 bucks for a can of it? ;)
I was going to make that a more prominent joke, but the label wasn't facing the camera when I drank from it so it didn't work. At any rate, they're half that price on base. I'd pay more for less caffeine in a latte. Plus the buzz is awesome after 4 cans in two hours.
...as i stare at my wifes marlboro lights after searching for a half an hour for my camel light menthols because i cant stand the thought of killing myself with her brand...i want to kill myself with my own brand damn it!!!! i suppose i will be quiet now.
good luck cleaning out your colon. i have an old power computing mac clone and that thing still runs. they made such good computer apple had to buy the company to slow them down.
In fact the only reason I have a mac in the first place is because it was "used." I definitely prefer my macbook to the IBM thinkpad (aka pos) I used to own. I like the computer, but can't stand all the software Apple tries to force me to use. I don't use itunes or safari, yet they keep trying to sneak both into automated software updates. Ironically, many of my friends who use macs, some of which work(ed) for mac, are the ones who hate Apple the most.
Ironically, you're drinking Red Bull, which is another "Cult of Brand" that I despise. Less caffeine than a cup of coffee, less ginseng, less B vitamins, less anything that an energy drink is supposed to do and their small can sells for more than a bigass can of Monster.
I agree. Although my iPhone is amazing but thats only because its jailbroken and all the crappy restrictions that mac decided to put on it are no longer there... iPad is an amazingly powerful piece of useless shit. Ive got a smart phone ive also got a laptop. What would anyone do with it that you couldnt do with phone or laptop?
Bose markets their sound-canceling headphones as an escape to your own private space. My mom bought me a pair for my birthday. I reluctantly tried on the major expense, and discovered that not only was the volume setting based on digital preset volumes, but the LOWEST of these volume settings was too loud for me. Seemingly, their "sound quality" comes from them being really loud. And the sound-canceling is pretty low. Not worth it at all. I finally got my mom to return them. Yay! 300 bucks back!
I hate having to buy new head phones! You have to wade thru to mountains of shit to find something that isn't made for the color, or brand tag on it, but made FOR SOUND!!!!
So you're living on an Army post and your lady is a Soldier? Thank you for supporting her in her support of our country.
Everything is branded, or labeled, or has some identification. Humans like to group like things. It's just something that we do. Being aware of it is a good thing though.

So anyway, let me try to ask what i was trying to originally before i effed up.
What is so "scary" and "mindless" about my original post?
That's the "bull" comment was supposed to ask...
Wittgensteinism 1 year ago
@Wittgensteinism For one thing, you're the one who sounds conservative, anti-technology and all that shit, not Az, who represents the very opposite tendency. The fact that you can't see it scares me.
nactan 1 year ago

DONT go by the specs when it comes to speakers, holy fuck are u retarded. all tht shit is a lie anyways. i have a shit rated for 10 000 watts tht doesnt even come close in comparison with other shit i have rated for 300 watts. the music listening industry doesnt give a fuck about testing, they just write what ever they want. besides, who the fuck makes music at 7hz?? not even dub step does tht. besides speakers dont matter much, its all about the amp

i don't see why you compare the emotional bond to flags to brand fanboyism. why always assume the abstract solution? pledging allegiances to a flag because of its symbolic nature rather than because it has replaced the values of the country it ought to represent is more obvious, isn't it?

LouTheDesigner 1 year ago
@LouTheDesigner you actually said that macs run windows 7 the best?please explain how since they use the same components as any other PC and if you put windows on it it becomes any other PC
Rooseveltdunn 1 year ago
@Rooseveltdunn My explanation and evidence comes from PC World having tested windows on a MacBook Pro using their WorldBench 6 Beta 2 benchmark.
LouTheDesigner 1 year ago
Oh I might also add that the company's goal has simply been to make better headphones than anyone else, but not to use specs as a means of misguiding people.
So originally they proposed to do that and if they got the name as the best developers then they've done their job.
CazzBlock 1 year ago
This video intrigued me so I did research. After looking through the company's past I found out that Dr Bose bought speakers when he was young because the specs were great, but when he used them they were shit.
After 40 years of research the company has yet to find measurements (specs) that translate into actual sound quality (frequency is really just physics).
So hopefully you read this, hopefully it makes you re investigate.
CazzBlock 1 year ago
I think you're making a sweeping generalization about Mac users. I would never call myself a "mac" (nor would any other apple owner that I know). I could care less about how any of my macs look (I own 4). And yes, you can touch its innards very easily. It took me ONE screw to open my iMac and install RAM. Installing new graphics cards is a very easy process as well. There are people that use macs because they are dumb and need an easy going OS, and others who use them because they are smart.

Hmm.... I believe you should make a flag for your self.

Incidentally: among True Audiophiles, Bose are regarded as not very high quality at all. The drivers are very cheap and their flagship speakers are so naturally unflat in frequency response they come with an eq (made of really bad, cheap parts).
ArtificialCleverenAI 1 year ago
The frequency response measurements can be deceiving. If it's 2Hz-200KHz -200dB, then you shouldn't expect a wide fr. Check the iStuff 808 Bass for a genuine audiophile bargain. Don't be put off by the price. My featured channel vid has a bit of advice about tech manufacturing cost (from a manufacturer in the UK--not affiliated with iStuff).

darksage640 1 year ago
Apple computers are a ripoff and Bose sucks dick! Anybody who considers themselves a true audiophile knows this. Bose shit sucks at all levels. From their computer speaks all the way up through their high end home theater speakers. Even their car audio solutions are garbage. As far as Apple goes I would never own a Mac PC although I somewhat enjoy my macbook. OSX is a decent OS but there is not a single thing I can do on my mac that I cannot do on my PC. But the inverse is far from true.

3rdly, dubstep is the shit.
