Stupid driver!!!!! I hate irresponsible drivers. I was in a car accident 5 months ago and my face will never be the same because a PREGNANT lady decided that she can ignore the law and put at risk the lives of not just her unborn but the lives of others, now i know I survived and im bless. He was repeating what the Dr's had said to him. The word expired is the "medical term" for someone passing away, not a word he created. Incredible story. No matter how many times I watch, I cry every time. To think that after such a horrific tragedy, something miraculous could happen by the birth of their triplets. I've never seen such a story of courage and strength. As a mother of 3 myself, I'm not sure I would be able to be as strong as these parents, and to keep moving forward. This family'

I asked her what was wrong and she said "it's just you left now." I didn't understand what she meant, and I was in complete shock when I finally realized that I was the only one who got out alive. I am so lonely now, and I still am in a state of complete shock and disbelief. It makes me learn that I can't replace a living person and I cannot ever live life for granted. I suffered both broken arms, all 10 fingers and all ten toes were broken, I had 5 ribs broken, My legs and pelvis were broken.
I tried to get up but I couldn't, and what I saw was my freinds and family's bloody, tangled, and obliterated bodies. My Father, best freind, and Two of my brothers were still squirming around, they looked like they were having seizures. My mother, sister and other 3 brothers were dead instantly. It was HORRIBLE! I CRY AND CRY AND CRY EVEN NOWADAYS! The driver of the 18 wheeler also died instantly. I then passed out again and woke up in the hospital. I remember the nurse shaking her head sadly.
I instantly cry every time I watch this. I can reflect because one tragedy shaped my life. On August 11, 2009, I was in a 10 seat van returning from a football game with my Mother, Father, five brothers and sister, and my best freind and I. We were driving on the interstate and a giant 18 wheeler came out of nowhere and struck the left side of the veichle. I was knocked out and the next thing I remember is waking up face down, bloody in the grass.
I am scared to go in the car now. I am crying so hard after watching this. I am 15 and a half and I get my permit next month, I have two sisters. I am going to be driving them around, and if something like this were to happen to them, i dont know how I could ever live with myself. Please god let me be safe.

I remember when I first watched this on TV. My heart little was in my throat the entire time. So heartbreaking what happened to this family and nobody will ever know the pain they're feeling unless you've experienced something like this first hand.
If traffic was stopped, this driver was probably driving too fast for traffic conditions and he should having been using peripheral vision; Looking directly in front of the truck and way out in front(1/4 mile) It may have been driver inattention or driver inexperience. I have a problem with the big trucking companies. New driver can qualify to become a driver trainer in as little as 6 months to a year. (Insane)To me it's like the blind leading the blind.
I don't know what happened here and I'm terribly sorry for the loss. What a terrible tragedy. The American Trucker comes in all different shapes and sizes as well as people that drive cars. Until we mandate a course on educating people about how to share the road with trucks, fatal accidents like this will continue to happen.

The primary reason for starting this page is to educate the general public on how to safely share the road with trucks so that accidents like this don't occur. I've been driving trucks since 1980 and in recent years I've noticed with truck and car drivers alike is driver inattention(Phones), driving too fast and road rage.
Cars jumping in front of trucks and hitting breaks. There's a lot of impatience out here anymore.
Kyle has the same birthday as my friend. That day that they died I was at her birthday party playing pin the wand on tinker bell while three little kids were dying. That is very sad. Those triplets are a miracle
I believe that no children can "expire" They can pass, they can go, they can rest in peace....which ever way you would say it but NO children can EXPIRE! I agree that it's a horrible thing to say.
I was crying so much by seeing the happy faces on the kids i cried alot when i saw the 2 year old girls face they were babies, to them. And i even miss them even if i just heard about this 1 days ago. I watched this 10 times and this is my 300 time cryin, god bless their new children the triplets, i bet they are the three other kids.

It's a professional way for a doctor to say Gee, I'm sorry but your kid is DEAD....get over it, it's the English language. Do I really need to give you a list of words as an example? @ejhudak It may be the professional way, but it certainly isn't the compassionate way. That's the trouble with lots of doctors. Nowadays their bedside manner is absolutely disgusting. Use the word "expired" when talking with another doctor or nurse, etc, NOT when talking to a family member!!!!
I have NEVER heard a doctor use the word "expire" in the presence of my family. (that is a good thing, obviously) When dealing with situations in my family, they usually say "we did the best we could, but unfortunately, *insert name here* did not make it."
I'm only 21 years old and don't have kids but this absolutely breaks my heart. I can't not even imagine what your family has gone through. I'm so sorry for your loss!
My Lord... This is so tragic.. Every minute of their story had me in bawling tears.. I wish them happiness with their new children, who are the little reborns of their previous angels. I hate big rig drivers. they think cause they have big trucks they rule the road to do whatever the heck they want disregard the consequences. They need to make stricter laws or new roads for only Big rigs.. Too many innocent ppl being rushed off to side of the road or worse, Killed!!! My parents were driving from Cali to NC and won't believe how many times them truckers had tried to run them off the road and almost killed them.

My heart aches for the Cobles. I watched this on TV and I cried my eyes out! I thought about Kyle,Katie,and Emma on May 4th. I know they are laughing and playing together in heaven and watching over their family in heaven. R.I.P sweet angels!

its weird but in a way this story helpes me get over the dead of my little chihuahua. she got hit by a car and died. she was my world.. and things they say here that they felt num for a very long time, i have that too. it happend january 10th 2011. and i still feel num and its hard to see others dogs play. i hope one day i have another dog or a cat who looks or acts like my dog did. i miss her so much. its not the same. but its the same pain. i blame the truckdriver. and the car that hit my dog

@LuxeLifestyle It most definitely was not their mother turning around to tickle Katie that caused the accident. Their car was stopped in traffic on the freeway when she tickled her, the cars were not moving. The truck came from behind them in the stopped lane way too fast, there was nothing the family could do.

@LuxeLifestyle In the article on the Oprah Show website it does say that the cars were at a complete stop in traffic. Apparently there was a curve in the road so the truck came around the curve and saw that traffic was at a standstill, but at that point it was too late.
Absolutely horrific story, I cannot imagine anything worse. Definitely makes me put my own "misfortunes" into perspective.

You should really shut up, because that was the last moment Lori saw her kids alive. If she hadn't looked back at them, she would have missed her last chance to see them. Their car would have been hit regardless of whether or not Lori was looking straight ahead on the road or looking lovingly at her kids.

The mother was stopped in traffic, not moving. The van was sitting still, behind a line of traffic. The big rig came down the highway at over 55 miles per hour, crashing into them from behind without trying to stop. The mother never did anything wrong. THE VAN WAS SITTING STILL, as was the line of traffic in front of the van when the truck rear-ended it, going over 55mph.
@LuxeLifestyle, The accident was caused by a truck driver who recklessly disregarded the speed limit. The Coble's mini van was stopped in traffic when the collision occurred. So the mother had nothing to do with it.
I have an 8 yr old boy and a 6 yr old girl, and I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to awake to find out that I would never see them again. From one parent to another, my heart aches for both of these people. It is every parent's worst nightmare:(

Kyle has the same birthday as my friend. That day that they died I was at her birthday party playing pin the wand on tinker bell while three little kids were dying. That is very sad. Those triplets are a miracle

I was crying so much by seeing the happy faces on the kids i cried alot when i saw the 2 year old girls face they were babies, to them. And i even miss them even if i just heard about this 1 days ago. I watched this 10 times and this is my 300 time cryin, god bless their new children the triplets, i bet they are the three other kids.

How unbelievably thoughtless of the doctors to tell the father his daughters had "expired." They were human beings and not food, for goodness' sake!! My heart goes out to this incredible family!!!!

It's a professional way for a doctor to say Gee, I'm sorry but your kid is DEAD....get over it, it's the English language. Do I really need to give you a list of words as an example? Go back to elementary grammar.

@ejhudak It may be the professional way, but it certainly isn't the compassionate way. That's the trouble with lots of doctors. Nowadays their bedside manner is absolutely disgusting. Use the word "expired" when talking with another doctor or nurse, etc, NOT when talking to a family member!!!!

I have NEVER heard a doctor use the word "expire" in the presence of my family. (that is a good thing, obviously) When dealing with situations in my family, they usually say "we did the best we could, but unfortunately, *insert name here* did not make it."

I hate big rig drivers. they think cause they have big trucks they rule the road to do whatever the heck they want disregard the consequences. They need to make stricter laws or new roads for only Big rigs.. Too many innocent ppl being rushed off to side of the road or worse, Killed!!! My parents were driving from Cali to NC and won't believe how many times them truckers had tried to run them off the road and almost killed them.

What is sick about this is they are using their children's death to become famous by appearing on Opera. Lots of children die in car accidents every day unfortunately. The difference between those children and the Cobel children is the parents are using their children's death for their fifteen minute of fame. They were probably sad at first, and not they like the fame and attention. How sick is that?

My heart aches for the Cobles. I watched this on TV and I cried my eyes out! I thought about Kyle,Katie,and Emma on May 4th. I know they are laughing and playing together in heaven and watching over their family in heaven. R.I.P sweet angels!

@missyvon1986, I'm very sorry for the loss of your dog (I've put down two in my life - and watched the pain that my brother and his family went through when they put theirs down), but you absolutely CANNOT feel the same pain that these parents felt, and feel every single day looking at their triplets; it's a constant reminder of the children they lost so tragically

its weird but in a way this story helpes me get over the dead of my little chihuahua. she got hit by a car and died. she was my world.. and things they say here that they felt num for a very long time, i have that too. it happend january 10th 2011. and i still feel num and its hard to see others dogs play. i hope one day i have another dog or a cat who looks or acts like my dog did. i miss her so much. its not the same. but its the same pain. i blame the truckdriver. and the car that hit my dog

I watched this last night. I bawled my eyes out!! My heart aches for this family! They were 3 beautiful kids and now they're beautiful angels in heaven. They now have triplets 2 girls and 1 boy but Kylie,Katie,and Emma's memory will always be in their hearts! God bless the Coble family!

This is the saddest story I have ever heard, My heart goes out to them, but I can't help but think that this tragic tragic accident may possibly could have been prevented, if the woman showed better judgment by not turning around to tickle her child on a highway.

@LuxeLifestyle It most definitely was not their mother turning around to tickle Katie that caused the accident. Their car was stopped in traffic on the freeway when she tickled her, the cars were not moving. The truck came from behind them in the stopped lane way too fast, there was nothing the family could do.

@LuxeLifestyle In the article on the Oprah Show website it does say that the cars were at a complete stop in traffic. Apparently there was a curve in the road so the truck came around the curve and saw that traffic was at a standstill, but at that point it was too late.
Absolutely horrific story, I cannot imagine anything worse. Definitely makes me put my own "misfortunes" into perspective.

@LuxeLifestyle She was STOPPED in traffic, how difficult is that to understand? It was perfectly safe to look behind at her kids to check on them. You should really shut up, because that was the last moment Lori saw her kids alive. If she hadn't looked back at them, she would have missed her last chance to see them. Their car would have been hit regardless of whether or not Lori was looking straight ahead on the road or looking lovingly at her kids.

The mother was stopped in traffic, not moving. The van was sitting still, behind a line of traffic. The big rig came down the highway at over 55 miles per hour, crashing into them from behind without trying to stop. The mother never did anything wrong. THE VAN WAS SITTING STILL, as was the line of traffic in front of the van when the truck rear-ended it, going over 55mph.
HOW is this the mother's fault?
Oh, that's right.. it's NOT.

@LuxeLifestyle, The accident was caused by a truck driver who recklessly disregarded the speed limit. The Coble's mini van was stopped in traffic when the collision occurred. So the mother had nothing to do with it.

I have an 8 yr old boy and a 6 yr old girl, and I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to awake to find out that I would never see them again. From one parent to another, my heart aches for both of these people. It is every parent's worst nightmare:(
