@bitdinver Because you would get out of your veichle, open the boot and unload the wire and cones and then get killed by an EOD bot you repairs you in the back
A lot of people don't seem to understand. There are different factors that determines realism. It's not only vision that counts in real warfare. Hearing is very important, the speed of bullets, the tactics you take, stamina control, these are all realistic aspects that are required in a real battlefield. Yet, people call this simulation fake, only because of the graphics, which isn't even the purpose of it. Graphics HELP, but it's not a priority.
I wonder how much different this is from vanilla ARMA2? If its used to train solders (including my Aussie brothers) at least I hope the AI isn't as dumb as a brick!!
i heard from the forums ( not the game's forum but other forums) its written : "NOTE! JCOVE Lite WILL uninstall itself if you wound or kill friendlies during the initial qualification missions. This is a deliberate system. For this reason alone, we recommend backing up your downloaded image either on DVD or on your HDD."
soo not for public im guessing. if not is arma 2 arrow head and combat oporations the same in a way??? cause i really really really want something like this
I got to train on this while on Annual Training for the National Guard. We were doing mounted and dismounted patrols for IED's. Excellent for crawl phase training in preperation of our deployment to Afghanistan.
This is like a more realistic version of Arma, but the thing is, why does it cost 800 dollars more?! I had half a mind to save up to buy this until I saw the price.
holy .. Im too disapointed when i see the whole arms vehicles and other stuff in VBS2. Arma ist just a cheap copy ... or no ... better its the junk of VBS2 at least ArmA is still a simulation game too. One thing interessting here on comments i read often something about BFBC2 ... well how can you start comparing a acarde game (BC2) and VBS2(also ArmA1/2 and OFP1) those games a totaly differnt in two differnt genres so please stop comparing them its sensless!
First of all, this is simulator, you can't compare it in any way with BC2...

I agree to miko88x2 partly, BFBC2 enviroment sounds are more realistic (I am not talking about gun sounds), example: when weapon is fired inside building it sounds more realistic as it would sound in real life, but I mostly agree with you, this is not game, this is learning program.
If this is made by the boys who made Arma, then it is a video game and it is sub-par for the modern world of computers. They use basic models without tesselation or surface texture rendering, but instead use low polygon models with a image capture mapped on to it. they've done it with the entire environment. As for the sounds I do agree there more realistic than any other computer simulation/game, BUT there as usual recorded poorly, leading to distortion
Yes this is multiplayer. No you'll never get it unless you are lucky enough to work on the team or get to use it in the military. There is a version for civilian use you can buy online through the VBS website. But for the entire game and all mods your looking at well over $1000. Or you can get Armed Assault, which is basically the same game under a different name with less options than VBS.
Go in military (Canada,USA,UK) use it, so you have the choice. If you want the civilian version search Armed Assault or Operation Flash Point (use the VBS engine). But the problem with civil version you don't have the exactly equipment and a cheap map editor, the military version have 200+ different weapon, a lot of equipment and realistic bullet impact.
What's the difference between VBS1 and VBS2? Besides the obvious graphics change and improved animations? They both seem really good simulators none the less.
In theory, yah. I have a computer that can run crysis at 40 frames a second, but arma at 20. Crysis is set to very high at my native res of 1680x1050. So in theory, yes, in practice, no.
Well yeah, BIS devotes a ton of time to the military sales. They do quite well, also. The military does get some special treatment. But also, if you watched all of the videos, you can see how much additional programming is included, and how many extra features there are to VBS2, you can understand why the cost is so high. $1000 might be pushing it in my opinion, but governments will pay that much.
Looks good, when is Bohemia studios going to release this as a multiplayer game format. The graphics arn't too dissimilar to their recent ArmA series. It would be nice if they could better implement TrackIR in the games, I'm surprised the Army version doesn't use this (maybe it does?).
it can if the entire map isn't rendered at once. it uses the same engine as Arma, but the price is actually reasonable considering who their customers are.
fair enough, but ArmA is hardly a small game to run. and I don't expect it to be cheap because it isn't designed for gamers. but still it would be nice
some of it I can see is very reminecent of Operation Flashpoint, for example: the sound occlusion, I can remember vivdly hearing helicopters along time before they arrived.

Hey can you tell me.when i place stuff in the editor(objects)they are never thear where i dropped them and when placing troops if i place em randomly they will all be in a line when played.how do i fix this?
For troops, if they're a group, they will automatically return to formation when the mission starts. If you want to place individuals, you have to place them as single soldiers. Not sure what you mean by your object question, though.
when i place troops (says a bluefor rifleman then a bluefor sniper) they automatically group together how do i stop that.can i make it so they join up at mission start so they are in different places . usnt there a waypoint for that.

No, Operation Flashpoint is the previous game. ArmA has a lot of features and improvements over Operation Flashpoint.

Do you recommend getting ArmA 2 or OFP 2 when they come out of course.

I'll be getting ArmA2 regardless. OFP2 is by an as-yet-unproven team, and it's way too early to say whether it will be a good game or not.
