Aretha is both but most importantly she is a singer first and to this very day she is the greatest! Aretha has one of the most unique voices in the world, fans have criticized her vocal abilities year by year, but personally I love them all. I'm quite addicted to the sound of her voice and the way she oozes soul through every lyric she expresses. You may want to try out other vocal periods of her before you judge her.

lol im addicted to theres not a day that goes by where i dont listen 2 her if not her its mary j blige anyways funny story my mom as a kid used 2 listen 2 her and i hated her i even hated mary than i got tired of tha bubblegum pop shit vocals that didnt speak to me and show the bet tribute 2 her my first album was young gifted and black n i said im buyin all of them and i did well most of them n mary i liked sum of her songs but it was til the breakthrough i said ok im buyin all...lol
