@Sonicisbadazz. If you notice my comment was written three years ago, you'd know I've been gaming for 20 years now. I still will say it. The counter system allows one to win a fight wiithout fighting. It's a passive fighter's game, and it's clearly biased against fighters who aren't. Several characters bail a player out of anything. The set-up means nothing if the game doesn't force you to use it. Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat require much more than that.

@GamingQueen88 How does the game not force players to make use of everything? It's a rock-paper-scissors mechanic. You keep throwing counters, and your opponent will catch on and start throwing you.

And sure, you can say the counter system allows one to win without fighting, but how is that really any DIFFERENT from the fighting? You push buttons and directions to do attacks and throws, and counters are thrown by pushing a button and specific direction. Same thing.

DOA is far from just mashing and countering. It's very strategic and requires deep knowledge of the game to play on the higher skill levels. Many of the same things you find in other fighters--like frame advantages and stuns--are very prominent in DOA.

And by the way, Master plays SFIV. He's good at it.

Icetrey87 is telling the truth. From personal experience, Dead or Alive is the cheesiest fighting game ever. The counter system is ridiculous,it helps even a six year old sit back, reverse and win. This game requires no skill, pick Hayabusa or Ayane and you can pull off extremely damaging combos with little effort. This games mechanics are screwed up, and the " lovely " DOA girls have sickening unreal bodies. Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and KOF are for real fighting gamers.

This game takes 0 skill. There is close to no risk involved in the counter system, for huge damage in success. All you need to do in order to juggle is spam 1 button, and there is no room or ability for mix-up. This game is shit.

Crushing; true mids; slow escaping; properly taking advantage of the stun system; the traditional triangle system of Throws beat Blocks/Counter, Counters beat Attacks, and Attacks beat Throws; understanding frame data...this is all stuff you have to know to play MID-level in DOA. High level play...(TBC)

And in my opinion anybody who tries to say it's a game any 5 year old can win by mashing buttons apparently has not played many fighting games. ALL fighters contain a bit of randomness that skilled players have to adapt to during rounds before they can win. Sometimes mashing buttons works. That's just how fighters are.

Never said you could win by mashing buttons, but no, random button mashing should never 'work' against another skilled player. But this game's fighting system IS quite a bit sloppier than the average fighter.  Hell, I've been a long time hater of Mortal Kombat but the new game is absolutely polished to hell and plays like the best of technical balanced fighters. Even though some characters like Sheeva may still be shit.
