  • Beginning is Wing Chung

  • @ISSNumber7 no little bitch ,that fat loser sittin on his computer bash is not gonna work , i have a body of steel and hundred times of better than this fake migget chink,

REAL MARTIAL ARTISTS FIGHTS REAL ONES NOT ACTORS , what do u see in this video ? james coburn ?

a fighter ? BL doesnt even know what to do to fool the actor ,simple, he just need to fill his time to get paid, lmfao...

  • @vandumbass Bruce Lee was a martial artist and an actor, you just an idiot, whatever you say

  • @vandumbass The "actor part" is just one only part of what we saw about Bruce Lee. He was very smart, and really KNEW fighting. People who trained with him could tell how fast he was. But if we see just some videos, thats obvious that we only see...just videos, for a movie, nothing more

  • I believe that in some of these videos, Bruce Lee was preparing James Coburn and others for action sequences in movies & tv. As far as being thin, people were somewhat thinner then, and not as heavy and muscular as some are nowadays.

  • BL was nothin but an actor as you can see in this video he is just doin the simple chi sao with actor., james coburn lol..

  • excellent teaching by a true master

  • as you can see Bruce Lee isnt even looking hes looking sideways. Good thing = training.

  • @Magyar126 its a usual move when u do the chi sao ,anyone can do that ,

  • Wing Tsun , sticky hands, not easy too learn , but essential

  • @neechaa Yes, all fighters obviously train sticky hands before they get in the UFC. So essential.

  • Bruce was too thin. More muscle would made him look better.

  • @MegaSmud BL was no special he was a tiny skinny person ! its all that movie nerds bubblin things..

  • Bruce Lee actually trained a bunch of actors, including Karem Abdul Jabbar, Steve McQueen, James Garner and even Chuck Norris got some.

  • @JasonvonEvil83 he did u r right i also thnk C Norris n B Lee had mutual respect for each other two great men respecting one another i wish great coujtries had respect for each other too

  • You must give Bruce Lee a dozen credits for giving all his secrets out to the world. And because he did he changed the world forever

  • WOW! What great footage! Steve McQueen trained with Chuck Norris, these old action stars, including Bronson did real training

  • This is NEW ! Never saw this one before! Cool!

  • Basic poon sao (rolling) and James is practicing his trap against Bruce crossing his center line. Simple stuff.

  • this is rare footage, i knew the side kick training with coburn in the same patio but not the chi sao, thanks for posting

  • If you want to see live chi- sao feel free to refer to my channel.

  • ...corr. "They were [not] doing any real spontaneous chi sao of any sort."

  • Further..to clarify what I said...well YES they are doing "chi sao" movements...but it is all rehearsed. It is just rolling hands and then into a lap sao and gua choy(backfist) delivered by Coburn. When I said they were not even doing chi sao, my meaning was that they are doing real spontaneous chi sao of any sort. Lee was simply allowing Coburn to keep practicing the grab & backfist for the camera...so they could review it to see if it looked good enough on film to be included in a movie scene.

  • For those who've posted & said that Bruce Lee sucks here or is "losing" here...get a grip. They were not sparring nor even doing regular real chi sao. They were using a video camera which was replayable and brand new technology at the time which Lee saw used on the Green Hornet program that he co-starred in. Lee was setting up a possible future movie scene for one of Coburn's movie's where Coburn in a fight would use this move and backfist. They go to check the playback at the end of this clip.

  • they both sucks because they are doing chi sao , a wing chun technique .....

  • so wing chun sucks?thats funny cuz I know of a 125 pound 16 yr old kid who broke 2 cops arms and it took 6 cops to get him down, and he trained in wing chun. But I suppose your one of those brainwashed by tv mma junkies right? get back to me in 300 yrs when those techniques have been refined and tested in WAR by people who have dedicated there LIVES to perfecting an art. Or do you suppose having a tv and a keyboard make you an expert on ANYTHING?

  • @mkmega Which technique did he use to break the cops' arms?

  • @overkillll There's lots of ways one can break an arm in WC, it's not just 1 technique.

  • they are just doing chi sao, a wing chun training exercise for sensibility

  • who is that guy? it seems like Chuck Norris

  • @nitroglico I think his name is James Coburn.

  • Good old Bruce lee

  • yes bruce lee does not have an ego about him self so he is training this guy by letting himself be the device to learn from.

  • i hope this will clear things up one and for all.

all the different in spellings, Wing Chun, Wing Tsun, Ving Tsun etc, is not because of styles or content, but because Leung Ting was so cheap that he registered one of them (i don't quite remember which one) as a trademark so all other people have to use some other weired form of spellings.

  • its not a competition, hes training that one technique ;)

  • You're insane. Bruce wasn't actually fighting. He was teaching the other man therefore he wasn't trying to hurt him.

  • Dude you dont even understand this video and leaving this kind of comment oh my poor lifeless kid .

  • bruce lee is not losing you dummy. he's traing the other guy to take advantage of how to attack

  • Idiot

  • amazing

  • such a rare clip!

  • wow , what rare fottage. thanks for posting.

  • ving tsun (aka wing chun) its wing chun (aka ving tsun) i hate when people say ving tsun its wing chun

  • I don't particularly like the spelling, but there is a reason behind it, looked it up before you hate without reason.

  • ive never heard it been called ving tusn before. but i have heard wing tsun

  • You can blame Ip Man (Bruce Lee's Sifu) if you don't like the spelling. He was the founder of the "Ving Tsun Athletic Association" (VTAA) in 1967. Or you can Google the Ip Man Ving Tsun Museum (Ip Man Tong) in Foshan and complain to them. Yes, other kung fu families across the globe have changed the spelling to make it phonetic and used wing chun, wing tsun, wing tzun, and I'm sure other variations, and I'm sure each will claim theirs is the true spelling.

  • Ving Tsun was a name created by Wong Chun Leung because his style was a bit different than Yip Mans! Hope that clears things up a bit!

  • oh my man they are the same actually...

there is only one name for this style in Chinese : "詠春"

ving tsun, wing chun, ving chun or even wing tsun are just translations

And the Sifus of this style are actually like enemies cause each of them thinks that he is the only one who can teach proper Wing Chun...that's why there are so many variations of translations...

    it's sad...

  • ving tsun was a name Wong Shun Leung made up. It is Wing Chun but it is a bit different. WSL was Wing Chun's greatest fighter!

  • Where did you see that Wong Shun Leung was the creator of the spelling? All of the family lineages after Ip Man have some differences because each trained under him for varying lengths and under varying decades. All I can find about the spelling though is that in 1968, Ip Man was the founder of the VTAA, so I take it that the spelling was with his blessing.

  • Almost all WSL students/masters call themselves Ving Tsun practitioners. I say read up on WSL! It is very interesting regardless.

  • Many students of Ip Man's do the same including Ip Ching, Ip Chun, Moy Yat, Mo Kee, Victor Kan, and others. Yes, many other lineages have other spellings that sound phonetically better to Westerners such as Wing Chun, Wing Tsun, etc, but the basic concepts are the same. They all have some different teaching styles and some discrepancies of ideas on certain applications, but all of them have 3 empty hand forms, the wooden dummy, the kwan, and the knives (all with different English spellings).

  • Great clip!

  • what so you dont believe me that he is my great uncle

  • Amazing! Thanks matt271976 for this GREAT video!!!

    10*

    gagi

  • I'm Brittany coburn && James coburn is my Great uncle great memories thanks uncle JJ

but uh how did you ge tthis video? we have it in storage because i'm his great enice

  • usually these videos ' leaked ' , from Bruce Lee's estate 2 the rest of the world , very rare vids cannot be made dvds because of the complexity of broadcasting rights between individuals can only be shared 4 free , as Bruce would have want them actually.

By the way if James was your uncle , i gotta tell you he seemed like a very nice & decent man.

    r.i.p. 4 both.

  • that was not bruce lee

  • That is Bruce Lee..

  • it is 2 bruce lee this same clip is on bruce lee the immortal dragon documentary

  • Thanks for posting this. awesome stuff. Now I dont know anything about chi sao but it seems to me the purpose of this exercise is to disrupt your oponnent's balance, no?

  • its more about reacting. disrupting the opponents balance is just the result of it i guess^^. u learn to "sense" an attack and block it. a high level martial artist can do this with closed eyes. e.g. in movement your opponent tries to strike with a straight punch u react immediately with a bong sao. from there on go to lap sao and start ur counter making your opponent lose the balance

  • thanks. is this part of jeet kune do training?

  • yes but its for advanced fighters. nothing for beginners. u can try it though, if your partner is good enough he can "lead" you. i did this a few times in private training but i was just led by my teacher^^

  • thank you

  • Chi sao actually has its roots in Ving Tsun kung fu (aka Wing Chun). Bruce Lee's only formal martial arts training was in this style (he learned about half of the forms) before creating jeet kune do.

  • he also studied a fujian white crane style 'formally'.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • thanxx ;)
