Although this guy sucks balls, probably one of those mc dojo guys, shotokai katas are smooth and have no sudden stops, speed and smoothness are important in shotokai. Shotokai was funakoshi's idea of what karate is supposed to be. Do get it wrong, the movements may look sloopy and shitty but shotokai is not to be taken lightly. I practiced muay thai before getting into shotokai and I saw many, myself included get our asses handed to us by shotokai martial artists of our level.
That is 'Shotokai'. It's supposed to hark back to the days before the JKA and is a much more relaxed interpretation of the Funakoshi system. That is how they do the katas.
