u guys talk all this shit about the raiders when the steelers try to sue the raiders for hitting to hard in the 70s and the steelers hit the same way chuck nole had to go up and admit they hit the same way
Anyone who thinks this bounced steeler to steeler does not understand basic physics, fucking hell, this shouldnt be number one controversy, raiders should just be number 1 bitchiest team
@custom137 It is, but has anyone ever considered the ball hitting the defender then the wide reciever before falling into Franco Harris' hands? I'd say that's scientifically possible.
imo there shouldn't be a rule for bouncing balls or some stupid shit like that just throw the fucking ball and let whoever catches it get it not like a QB can do this every game
Seems like the Raiders are always caught up in controversy....at least in the 70's they deserved this to happen.....they had the motto "cheating is encouraged" well that is KARMA for you....they did not deserve the "tuck rule" though....that was boarder line BULLSHIT.... this play at least you can debate..the Tuck Rule.....most NE fans and even Tom Brady said it was a fumble....what a crock
Raiders fans have a legit with the Rob Lytle fumble, but not with the tuck rule. Search on google "top 10 controversial calls nfl total access" and it's the first link and watch Rich Eisen admit that it was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck rule, then he spits all over the tuck rule.
lmao try watching 'soccer' guys. ever single game the ref gets something wrong. in fact in over half the world cup games by beloved england have been knocked ouof the tournament with since my birth in 1984 it's been partially due to wrong decisions and in the knockout stae of the 2010 wc over half the games featured n incorrect call. and as fr the premier league, you're talking about 1-2 such calls per game. you're lucky the refs get so much right in the nfl, you have fantastic officials
@CTTMOGK i disagree tbh, in nfl every decision, even sometimes easy ones, is analysd by t video judges. in our football a ref is under pressure to make every decision instantly and without consultation, and im ot exaggerating when i say that if ou watch match of th day, summary of all the days games, you will see at least 3-4 incorrect calls every show
@CTTMOGK try seeing your country knocked out the biggest tournament on earth, the world cup which only comes round every 4 years and teams don't always even qualify for it (massive deal as soccer is arguably more popular in the uk tha nfl is in usa. its te ONLY sport here) due to a goal scored with a handball (1986), disallowed LEGIT goal (1990), another disallowed legit goal (2006) and another disalloed leg goal by lampard that was no less than a metre over the goal line (2010). raiders stfu!
It would defy physics and all known science for that ball to have hit the Steelers player and bouch the opposite direction, the Ball struck Tatum in the shoulder as he was running towards it, causing it to bounce back, the shape of the shoulder pads would explain why it bounced up and now down.
Besides, the Steelers receiver was getting train wrecked at the time so it couldnt have hit him.
Let it go Oakland, its been too long for you to dwell on this anyway...
it does defy physics for a ball to ricochet back the direction it came if it only just hit the steeler player who was travelling the same direction of the ball. look at the force of jack tatum colliding into the WR and that explains the ball bouncing back the other way with the distance it travelled to franco's hand. Did it touch the ground? no one can really say, but hey, when it's a clutch situation like that, and they pull that off.....you gotta give it to them.
I still don't know about this call. It could honestly have gone either way. Regardless, that rule where it couldn't hit two consecutive offensive players was dumb. Thank God that is gone.
Any D+ Physics student and above could realize that the ball wouldn't have flown that far back if it weren't hit by the Raiders player last. It wasn't a conspiracy, but rather proper officiating to the very end.
Some "kids" commenting on this video need to grow up. Why would you be so disrespectful to someone who passed away? Al Davis had never done anything directly to you. If you look in the history books, he did more good to the league than bad.
@samisback321 I hardly call a owner who is beloved by most of his former players, who was mostly responsible for the AFL-NFL Merger (thus the Super Bowl), and won 3 Super Bowls as an owner "horrible" at any of those.
@Fade2Orion I'm no big fan of Mark Madden myself but please show some consistency. @ThoseFiveJewz Viva la Tuck Rule! If you are a QB, just pump fake repeatedly every time you take the snap, until you find a receiver. Then you can never fumble.
@Graham6762 You're wrong, and you KNOW you're wrong. This is STILL a touchdown even with instant replay. Refs rule it a TD, and then the booth review begins. You can look at as many replays as you want, but in no replay is there definite, CONCLUSIVE evidence that the ball touches a Steeler after Bradshaw until Harris catches the ball. Period. This play has been reviewed by millions of people, including photography experts who have even blown the frames up....TD Steelers. Period.
You know what? I can't tell if it hit the Steeler receiver or the ground before the catch. All angles are perfectly out of whack here to make it just iffy enough to where both sides can make a legit case. I've watched this footage at least a 2000 times and I still can't decide what was the right call.
Also how about the jump ball in the endzone with bills up by 6 against the patriots in the 4th quarter, terrible. The ref from the endzone walks up to the line judge on the sideline and says oh lets give it to them, pass interference. A-reed heard the whole thing and said it on the news. So the pats got the ball like around the 10 yard line and next play touchdown to tie the game. The bills defense was so pissed off that they refused to come out and attempt to block to the winning PAT,that bad!
The tuck rule should be number 1 because there is evidence that brady pumped forward and then pulled back a tad and got hit and fumbled the ball. Brady never passed forward when getting that hit at all. That ref was crooked as hell and just plain stupid. It is interesting that the ROAD TEAM always gets screwed in these controversial calls! How about phil luckett and the cointoss, testeverde run for a TD and the playoff game with the titans and bills, just HORRIBLE!
How could the ref be at fault when he got the call correct? I mean that was the rule at the time. The ref can't make up the rules as he goes along, I understand it was a terrible rule but he must follow the rulebook as best he can. Therefore the ref was correct and should not be blamed for the decision.
What game are you talking about? The immaculate reception is an odd one,but everything else i said is correct. Just because a ref said that is the rule, was it really a rule or just some bullshit bailout call. If you dont think refs dont shave points, have bookie and have certain favorite teams you are very very stupid! Same goes for basketball!
If it was in the rulebook then its the rule. The ref hardly came out after the game and pretended it was a rule just to cover himself, if he did he would be found out rather quickly. Terrible rule but the ref got the call right.
I would like to see that rule in rule book. Have you noticed that the road teams always get screwed in these big games, must be very blind. If it is the right call then why do so many people who are not raider fans disagree with you? I will say millions and millions of non raider fans will disagree with you. I have met plenty of them!
If you are talking about the tuck rule you are WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG! There is always some mysterious rule that nobody seems to know about and you expect fans to belive it,really. A fumble is a fumble and etc. How about the steelers colts wildcard game in 2006 when polamalou clearly intercepted the pass with posession and then fumbles the ball, falls on it and it and recpovers the ball, but the refs call it a incomplete pass. Then after that BULLLLLLSHIT CALL the colts get aTD make it a 21-18 game.
@bball24ified Why don't you actually watch the video and listen dumbass. To me, it does bounce off a raider, hit the steelers shoulder pad and than harris catches it. Which was illegal if I'm not mistaken.
I'm a Ravens fan, but I have to admit, I think it was the right call. Based on how far that ball flew after it was deflected, it almost had to be hit by the Raiders defender, and I don't think it touched the ground. For once, I think the refs got the controversial call right.
I'm not Raider's fan, but COME ON. In none of those shots does it make it look like a clear catch. TO ME it looks like the ball bounces into the guy's hands, but guess what? In NONE of these shots can you really tell. None. The shots were all cut off. So no one really has the right to say whether it was or wasn't a good or bad call. /:
the steelers have had so much luck and so much stuff go their way. they are not liek the 49ers who won on all skill. the steelers always had the refs on their side big time until 2 years ago. funny until 2 years ago because they realize what they were doing.
While watching this i just realized when i was a waiter i wanted on Phil Villapiano at a restaurant. He showed me his ring and i didnt even think twice about it. I had no idea who he was at the time.
After all the years that the Rooney Mafia has had it's grip on the NFL Hierachy, it was nice to see the Packers put them in their place in last year's Super Bowl. I suppose these blowhards in the Pittsburgh media attribute the loss to the NFL's disdain for Roethlisberger's desire to have bathroom sex whenever and wherever he wants.
He's right the raiders are almost allways on the wrong side ex; the tuck rule, playing against Gruden in the superbowl when he knew the raiders offence
how the hell did i bounce off the steeler. if it bounced off of him it wouldnt have taken a trajectory like that. it would have gone more lateral. PEOPLE OF OAKLAND ARE RETARDED
@zeidy388 Look, Tatum is obviously the one who sent the ball flying backward, but that doesn't mean it didn't touch the receiver first. If it had deflected off the receiver's hands into Tatum's helmet, it likely would have gone in the direction it did.
The only reason I care about this at all is because I hate the Steelers. Still, I don't doubt that it was a catch, and I think the rule is dumb and irrelevant anyway. I just think that response is a little vindictive of you.
2:02 The way Madden said "Well, they....told me to get the hell outta the field" had me cracking up, compared to his excited speech after and beforehand.
@maloney000 dude u guys have been around since 1933 and u have 6 superbowls that not really impressive. 6 superbowls in 77 years i guarentee u if my team (the guys who busted yall ass this year not once but twice) had been around that long we would have 10 superbowls, yall r 1 of the oldest teams in the NFL and u only have 6 rings lol fuckin clowns
@GotPurp90 if you really knew about your team you would know that technically your team has been around for quite a while as well (1946). the cleveland browns moved to baltimore. only the name "cleveland browns" stayed in cleveland. so as i was saying, steelers are better than your team. steelers have a 6-2 superbowl record. ravens/pre1996browns have a 1-0 superbowl record.
@maloney000 i no plenty about my team sir i am a Baltimore Ravens fan established in the 90's not a clevland fan so rhe bullshit ur tryna tell me doesnt wrk. 77 years and only 6 rings NOT IMPRESSIVE
@GotPurp90 What don't you understand? the pre96 cleveland browns which had no superbowl wins WERE the ravens. and ill make it fair for you. lets say everything im saying (which makes perfect sense) isn't true. your team has been around since 1996 (about 15 years) and has only been to and won 1 superbowl. when you apply first grade math, you will understand that that means you have 5 superbowls in 77 years. stop talking. and please spell correctly so i can read your next worthless reply
@GotPurp90 There have only been 45 Super Bowls, regardless of how long the Steelers have been around... Pittsburgh has been to eight of them. And they've WON six. And just to make you feel even more uncomfortable, The Steelers have won two of them since the Ravens have been around, and they've been to three (two of those appearances included beating your Ravens in the playoffs, btw) so, in total honesty... You have no room to talk shit.
not worthy of number 1 number 1 has to be clear evidence from when you saw the play that it hit tatum or fucqua plus there was no instant replay and in all the clips they never show the play up close so it was inconclusive evidence therefore they go with the ruling on the field.
Anybody notice how the Steelers make multiple appearances in the 10 most controversial calls?

Just because a ref said that is the rule, was it really a rule or just some bullshit bailout call. If you dont think refs dont shave points, have bookie and have certain favorite teams you are very very stupid! Same goes for basketball!
535wer 1 month ago
@535wer
If it was in the rulebook then its the rule. The ref hardly came out after the game and pretended it was a rule just to cover himself, if he did he would be found out rather quickly. Terrible rule but the ref got the call right.
Galwaybhoy 1 month ago
I would like to see that rule in rule book. Have you noticed that the road teams always get screwed in these big games, must be very blind. If it is the right call then why do so many people who are not raider fans disagree with you? I will say millions and millions of non raider fans will disagree with you. I have met plenty of them!
535wer 1 month ago
If you are talking about the tuck rule you are WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG! There is always some mysterious rule that nobody seems to know about and you expect fans to belive it,really. A fumble is a fumble and etc. How about the steelers colts wildcard game in 2006 when polamalou clearly intercepted the pass with posession and then fumbles the ball, falls on it and it and recpovers the ball, but the refs call it a incomplete pass. Then after that BULLLLLLSHIT CALL the colts get aTD make it a 21-18 game.

I had a raiders fan tell me that harris caught the ball so is he right?

how is this not a catch?
bball24ified 1 month ago
@bball24ified Why don't you actually watch the video and listen dumbass. To me, it does bounce off a raider, hit the steelers shoulder pad and than harris catches it. Which was illegal if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like it hit the Raiders player to me and I hate the Steelers.

Raiders players didn't play the whistle. They stopped after the hit.

I'm a Ravens fan, but I have to admit, I think it was the right call. Based on how far that ball flew after it was deflected, it almost had to be hit by the Raiders defender, and I don't think it touched the ground. For once, I think the refs got the controversial call right.
fivelegduc12 1 month ago
I'm not Raider's fan, but COME ON. In none of those shots does it make it look like a clear catch. TO ME it looks like the ball bounces into the guy's hands, but guess what? In NONE of these shots can you really tell. None. The shots were all cut off. So no one really has the right to say whether it was or wasn't a good or bad call. /:

the steelers have had so much luck and so much stuff go their way. they are not liek the 49ers who won on all skill. the steelers always had the refs on their side big time until 2 years ago. funny until 2 years ago because they realize what they were doing.

TenaciousD3 2 months ago
how the hell did i bounce off the steeler. if it bounced off of him it wouldnt have taken a trajectory like that. it would have gone more lateral. PEOPLE OF OAKLAND ARE RETARDED
zeidy388 2 months ago
@zeidy388 Look, Tatum is obviously the one who sent the ball flying backward, but that doesn't mean it didn't touch the receiver first. If it had deflected off the receiver's hands into Tatum's helmet, it likely would have gone in the direction it did.
The only reason I care about this at all is because I hate the Steelers. Still, I don't doubt that it was a catch, and I think the rule is dumb and irrelevant anyway. I just think that response is a little vindictive of you.

@GotPurp90 haha. those are the words from the fan of a sucky team. but i guess i would be jealous of the team with the most superbowl wins too.
maloney000 3 months ago
@maloney000 dude u guys have been around since 1933 and u have 6 superbowls that not really impressive. 6 superbowls in 77 years i guarentee u if my team (the guys who busted yall ass this year not once but twice) had been around that long we would have 10 superbowls, yall r 1 of the oldest teams in the NFL and u only have 6 rings lol fuckin clowns
GotPurp90 2 months ago
@GotPurp90 if you really knew about your team you would know that technically your team has been around for quite a while as well (1946). the cleveland browns moved to baltimore. only the name "cleveland browns" stayed in cleveland. so as i was saying, steelers are better than your team. steelers have a 6-2 superbowl record. ravens/pre1996browns have a 1-0 superbowl record.
maloney000 2 months ago
@maloney000 i no plenty about my team sir i am a Baltimore Ravens fan established in the 90's not a clevland fan so rhe bullshit ur tryna tell me doesnt wrk. 77 years and only 6 rings NOT IMPRESSIVE
GotPurp90 2 months ago
@GotPurp90 What don't you understand? the pre96 cleveland browns which had no superbowl wins WERE the ravens. and ill make it fair for you. lets say everything im saying (which makes perfect sense) isn't true. your team has been around since 1996 (about 15 years) and has only been to and won 1 superbowl. when you apply first grade math, you will understand that that means you have 5 superbowls in 77 years. stop talking. and please spell correctly so i can read your next worthless reply
maloney000 2 months ago
@GotPurp90 There have only been 45 Super Bowls, regardless of how long the Steelers have been around... Pittsburgh has been to eight of them. And they've WON six. And just to make you feel even more uncomfortable, The Steelers have won two of them since the Ravens have been around, and they've been to three (two of those appearances included beating your Ravens in the playoffs, btw) so, in total honesty... You have no room to talk shit.

Calls #10 and #9 went against the home team, but calls #1-#7 go against the away team.
Call #8 was at a neutral site.
So the home team has a 7 out of 9 advantage here.

Close to the end of the vid, it's stated that the refs called it a TD just to protect themselves. That means it wasn't a catch, nor a TD.

not worthy of number 1 number 1 has to be clear evidence from when you saw the play that it hit tatum or fucqua plus there was no instant replay and in all the clips they never show the play up close so it was inconclusive evidence therefore they go with the ruling on the field.
