froze a bunch of water on the roof at the Scotts/Kroger on west main street, and part of the roof in the dairy dept caved in :P we had trash cans everywhere catching water
i live in fort wayne to i remember the storm it was crazy we were out of power for three days and i remember the news saying we wouldnt have it until christmas eve but luckily with the help of god it came sooner it was just a horrible time for our family and everyone else in fort wayne
Neither is good. That much snow is bad, but at least it wasn't sealed over with ice like it was down here on the roads. Nothing like driving the back roads that already had snow not removed by the city or county, then sealed over with ice.
Gotta love the wisdom of the local government: Build a minor league stadium downtown, spare no expense, but cut back on the road crews and salt.
Yeah. I live between Ft. Wayne and Leo-Cedarville. It was a mess around here. But, when we drove into town Sunday evening, some of the neighborhoods looked like war zones.
Our power lines are underground. Many areas of the city still are above ground. Those wires were seriously drooping in some areas, and with the homes packed in as closely as they are together, there was quite a bit of damage. Here, there's more room.
That is what makes this so very hard. No one knows how they are going to be spending Christmas or when. And it has to be discouraging to hear of other people getting their power back on, and you must feel forgotten in this mess.
I hope your power comes on soon, and you get back to normal.
now im just a kid and i live in fort wayne and one of the streets in my addition are solid ice and me and my friend took a seld down it and with his little ray-dar-gun he got on ebay, i got up to 26 mph!!!
i live in fort wayne and this storm was massive my power went out in the mist of it and we spentlike thousands of dollars to get things. my power just know came on
I know. My mother-in-law on the south side near St. Henry's is up on Dupont at Pine Valley. She's not expected to get power much before Christmas Eve.
And we are to get more of the same weather tomorrow.
my whole block was dark not 1 light was seen but im used to it iv been in the war in bosnia in 91 except it was with ak-47s and a lot more deaths and no power hald my family is dead but im ready for another round hopefully
yea my house got broke into the 2nd day without power threw a brick thro the window and they were there for like 5 mins probably i was pulling up my driveway got out the car and i see two guys running out the front door 1 of them almost sliped (lol) wish he did though but they only hade enuf time to steal my dvd player witch i dont use atleast they didnt steal my ps3 flat scrren and all that goodd stuff lol
We did get off relatively lucky at our home. Most of the damage was in the woods. It's a royal mess with trees and powerlines down in the city itself. There are trees blocking some of the streets in town. With the cold, pipes are bursting and we now have some water main breaks.
Sounds like you guys got off pretty lucky. We had a Ice Storm hit us a few years back. We lost power for a week. Yards and streets were a mess down lines, trees, limbs and branches. It look like a battle ground. It took about two days to clean up our yard.
Thanks for sharing. It's actually a beautiful site considering the great damage it could have done.

Beautiful video! I have never experienced an ice storm (knock on wood). I hope I never do. xxxx

I'll take snow over ice any old day. But, I suspect with the climate changes, we will be experiencing more of the same.
Used to be common about 200 miles south of us. Now I feat it will be common here.

I have to agree with you there.
We are still cleaning up in the woods behind us.

There were still those who were without power during the holidays. I think that the ice storm was much worse than a heavy snow storm would have been.
Usually, ice storms like this happen in the mid-south.
Makes you wonder about global warming, doesn't it?

I feel bad for the Ft. Wayne folks affected by the ice storm.
We didn't get an ice storm in metro Detroit. Instead, we ended up with 10 inches of snow.

I wouldn't doubt it. I know it's a serious mess, but if I was a kid, I'd be doing the same, too!
