In the book, the other mother got upset at Coraline's manners, put away her cockroaches, had grown taller, and took Coraline over to the mirror. As punishment, she pushed her in the mirror, leaving her within the dark wardrobe behind. Since it was pitch-black, Coraline felt around and found the three other kids, who talked like medieval times (ie "Art thou alive?").
Oh Draco, you shouldn't have.... Gaiman is a big, fat CLAM who pays Scientology the big bucks! He was recently photographed at Wealden House, the Sci fag center in East Grinstead run by his sister Lizzie Calcione. Mark Headly confirms that Gaiman was reinstated into Scientology and appologised to in Blown for Good.
Its about a girl who is bored with her parents and finds another world through the wall where everything is better and with two other parents who are more fun and have black buttons for eyes, but they say she can't stay unless she sews buttons onto her face. This leads to Coraline saying no and the other mother kidnapping her real parents.
eww, why couldn't it have been with real people??? the whole cartoon thingie is cool and all, but i think with people it would have brought out the eerie-ness of the story
I don't know what everyone is complaining about, so what if it was a freaking closet, at least they still kept this part in! Geez. And it looks almost exactly like Dave McKean's drawings...in 3-D. And just as creepy as the book.
stop bitching about the differences already. hollywood is like that... they even screwed up stardust. even if you bitch about it, you think the filmakers care?
just be thankful they made coraline into a movie ok.
This isn't directed by Tim Burton, it's directed by Henry Selick who directed The Nightmare Before Christmas, and yes Tim Burton didn't direct Nightmare.

where did you get this clip from? p.s. i hate that its in claymation and that they changed stuff they should base the characters on the book instead coraline sort of looks dumb like that please reply
Well its not "Claymation" Its stop motion animation, which involves puppets, no parts of which are made from clay. Also the clip comes from Neil Gaimans blog.
If you want something that follows the book word for word, read the book again. This is more annoying than theatre geeks bitching about how Tim Burton "ruined" or "bastardized" Sweeney Todd!

i guess they did it differently with more glowing in the movie because in a movie it would be hard to express feeling around in pitch black.

Gaiman is a patron of Scientology who has given over $100,000.00 to the CULT to support their evil crap.

I love how the ghost children huddle together and look down in this scene as if they are ashamed or shy in front of Coraline.

@Sunzu49 That's fair. But the movie was okay to, right?

Eh, yeah, it was just okay.
I think the only things I really enjoyed from it was the acting and music. In fact, someone got me the soundtrack for Christmas!

I have read the book. They are locked in a small cupboard. The room is not that big. And coraline does not have stars on her jumper.
Yes go on 'poor comment' me!
BlackOrchid66 4 years ago
In the book she does have stars on her sweater.
VanillaSnow07 3 years ago
It said she was small in the book.
Hey anyway, have any of you guys listened to the audio cassette? When the rats sing, om my god it's annoying.

I'm also pretty annoyed that Dakota 'Scream every five minutes in war of the worlds and annoy everyone' Fanning is doing the voice of Coraline.
