This is still my favorite score of Mr. John Williams. Just saw the film again, for the millionith time, really interesting after watching the whole Ancient Aliens series. As Roy, Julian and Larry move closer to Devil's Tower after Larry drops out on the light side of the moon, the score increases in intensity. Really an amazing score. Just saw Tintin, and John Williams quotes often from the Indiana Jone's series, though orchestrated differently. D. Alexandr D'Maddalena
Awesome video, and EXCELLENT choice of music for the video! I hope to be able to visit this summer, and I have the soundtrack. It WILL play in the cab of my truck as I approach the tower!
Ive always wanted to go here and make a film like this but know I wont ever, so this is the nearest as to what I would have done.....BRILLIANT, who ever made this and thank you...excellent and the most perfect track you could use from the film to tie in.
My grandfather was a stuntman and a parachutist... in 1941, he parachuted onto Devil's tower and got stuck up there for 6 days. It was a $50 bet... google it! he's famous for it:)
I went there many years ago. Back in the 80s. I remember being there at night and being able to see it with the stars behind it. I was waiting for the UFOs and the mothership. Very beautiful it is!!!! I want to take my kids to see it. My son is into UFOs and aliens and stuff.
It's so cool knowing that it's an extinct volcano.
Thanks for posting! I wanted to see Devil's Tower, too .. but by the time I reached it, the sun had set and it was snowing! And I almost ran out of gasoline! Wish I could go back, because it's fantastic!
Great Video. Nothing can set the mood..and tell the story than that of John William's arrangements. Always seems to encapsulate the visual within the music.
Amazing video and a very special place. I camped there for 3 nights in '06 and have many photos. It's truly relaxing and quiet. The month I was there, June, was a spiritual month among the Indians and no climbing was permitted. Highly recommend going to anyone! CE3K is an amazing movie!
This place is a trip. I remember my family took a road trip up to this place, then cut across to Yellowstone, then down to the Grand Canyon and back to El Paso. It was the best 2 weeks of my life. That part of the U.S. is absolutely amazing and beautiful and I'll never forget those days. Thank you for posting this and bringing back all those memories.
this place is amazing stopped there on my way back from the Sturgis bike rally. My dad and I ate lunch in the picnic area down bellow the main part and it was really nice. It was so quite and peaceful down there I haven't felt that at peace with the universe in a long time. theres just something about this place i'm sure all who come here feel it I can't be the only one.
This to me one one of the things to do before you die ! Aug 2004 road trip with my now wife ,this tune going through my head ,and being English this was HUGE !!
johhny will should have a gig on top of it,mind u the old bollox find it hard to climb,ah sure a gold helicopter would fly his ass up with a few tubas an flutes...
The Devils Tower was created when a meteor from Mars crashed into the other side of earth (china) and the force made The Devils Tower on the other side of earth (Wyoming).
I want to go there sooo BADDD. Im from Boston and love the East Coast.. But I have to admit.. The landscape of the west is MUCH prettier than the east. It is BREATHTAKING!!!!
I heard Speilberg had this tower built as a prop for the movie. Then with the movies success, he built a mansion of top with a swimming pool..............and a satellite dish to pick up extra terrestial TV signals like HBO and ESPN............
Sure is a great video, beautiful landscapes, beautiful places, simply brilliant, if I could visit all these places, also two videos for a look, just copy and paste the address of Youtube

my moms dad was a parachutist and a stuntman back in the day and i forgot why but he parachuted down by the tower and somehow got stuck on top of it for like 3 days. he said there was rats up there!! wtf??? but he was rescued luckily
I Love Close Encounters, is my fave movie ever & this place is so magical & enigmatic, sometimes I think this could be builded by some lost civilization, who knows!
Was there earlier this year on a motorcycle trip. Had breakfast at a diner in Hulett -- it was GREAT!! (We're from Australia.) Devils Tower is just awesome -- it "broods" over the entire landscape; it's always there, even when you can't see it, you know it's there ... watching ...
devil's tower is amazing, I went across country to burningman in 2000, on the way back went through a lot of wyoming, teton/jackson hole, hell's half acre....driving up to the tower was just like this...if i could have rented a wood panel-sided stationwagon i would have loved to drive it off the road like the movie..lol
I lived in Gillette Wyoming in 1975 when they were filming CLOSE ENCOUNTERS. Devils Tower is a unique area. It takes about an hour to walk around it but it's well worth the walk. I believe there is an energy field that surrounds it. This is a spiritual place. It is really in the middle of nowhere, in the best sense of the phrase. It is truly beautiful.
magical. i toured the states for 10 weeks in 2006. we stopped at devils tower and camped for one night. at the campsite they showed steven speilberg's "close encounters of the third kind" at night. how dreamy it was to watch the movie on an outside big tv while looking up right and seeing devils tower in the dark with stars above us. amazing
very nice video. It's always difficult to give the right scale of things on video, so I love the point where you zoom in and you see two tiny mountain climbers.
The absence of road signs show the folks in Wyoming have the right idea. Too bad Republicans keep getting their vote. (Have you seen The Grand Canyon - a Federal Park -lately with the giant plastic extension they built overlooking it?)
A dream come true for me, I´ve always wanted to visit Devil´s tower but I live in Argentina. I hope someday I would be able to go there. I love EEUU. Thanks for posting this!. Williams is God!

This compilation is awesome to me. Thank you for making it.

Wyoming is so beautiful (but scary at night) and seeing Devil's Tower is my favorite memory.
If you have a telescope or binoculars, you can see a decrepit old ladder if you look hard enough. It's pretty creepy.
