@Nirvaanaa i think we weren't watching MTV just to see our favorite bands, but as every one says, back in the days MTV played GOOD music. As a consequence we were more looking to MTV to discover artists, groups and songs we never heard about and expand our musical knowledge and taste. Yes there is internet and as you say we are incredibly lucky to have this nowadays, but you can't really know which song or band is good, MTV did that for us, 10 years ago.
