The RROD from a power surge is not the same RROD that is caused by GPU overheating.

Any Xbox 360 will most likely survive after a surge. But GPU overheating damages the connections so your Xbox 360 will be dead.

@BLOODYDEATH5kill The jasper revision (both arcade and elite) is very reliable. For older revision, yes, the elite may be a bit more reliable as the chips of Elite is epoxied to the main board. But this will not help very much.

And again, the RROD from power problem is not equal to GPU related RROD when your GPU is loose from the main board.

The RRoD can occur for different reasons 1 of them could be power supply failure, if you get the RRoD due to overheating is where the problem gets serious,it's really hard to fix it and if you fix it its a temporary fix anyways because it will happen again, that is WHY i will never ever ever buy an Xbox 360.

My Way 2 get rid of the RRoD:

I had the rrod so i unplugged it and plug back in it works. The only thing is this has happened 5 times all u have to do is repeat the step everytime.

I couldn't help but notice on this how he had to block all the vents off to get it to go into that protection mode. Turns it off and a few seconds later its working fine. Sounds like protection on it is working to me. Nice video. :P

that was NOT the real RRoD, your xbox is just as vulnerble to RRoD as all the others unless you put some custom fans in it but it dont look like you did, although your 360 is less likely to get RRoD because you have it mounted in the air like that which give it better airflow, again the reall RRoD usually reguires you either send it to microsoft or fix it your self and that requires you to take it apart and stuff

Ya several things you can do to prevent RROD mainly involve the environment, KEEP IT CLEAN!!!!!! keep dust away from it, keep it in a clean environment, I regularly clean mine with a can of compressed air and this might sound kind ot stupid but I poked holes in the top of the box and set it on there, and if ive been playing for awhile i turn my fan on to help cool it down, I have a 120gb elite, and ive had it since april of 2009, and i works perfectly I've never had any issues with it at all

I think i know why it got rrod

When the powerloss has a duration of like 1 microsecond the remaining power in the cables will keep the xbox alive

but when its like over 50 microseconds the power remaining in the cables starts to drain wich causes the xbox to turn off

in your case the xbox turned off but WHILE it turned off the power went back

so the xbox didnt turn completely off

but the ram had not enough power to hold the data

so the ram failed that caused the crash you got lucky son!

Even I have had rrod twice on my elites! First my old elite got the 3 rrod luckily with 2 yr warranty. Then my new Elite from the warranty got 2 rrod. I know what the problemos were x clamps and the other wouldn't detect the hardrive. What a life its been. No wonder 55.4% failure rate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
