That first fall could have been nasty, it hurts to watch... Those who say she isn't very good, if she wasn't she wouldn't have trained this much. The top beam workers can have days like this..Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin, Shannon Miller included. Sometimes one bad fall sets off more and makes it tough to settle. She was lucky not to break something. She is already with a broken hand and should not be using it.
yeah this routine looks a bit messy. she looks like she's scared of landing her layout, cos if u look she turns sideways to land, but slips and falls. But come on...she's 17 okay...i'm almost 21 and everyone says i look like a high sch kid... -.- asians just look younger. period.
give her a break..she probably spent the last few years leading up to the olympics doing pure bar work, she just started training to be an overall gymnast
She wasn't as... off-balance during the olympics... maybe she was tired or something. :/ No offence to her, I love her and everything, but I'm just rather curious about this being off-balance thing. :p
Also, maybe she's not that excellent on balance beam because of the fact that she's so good at UB. As in.. maybe she puts more hours into UB .. and settled on getting great at that because she knew with that huge skill right off the top of her routine, she definitely has a chance for gold at the beijing olympics. So maybe she didnt practice balance beam and the others as much.. cause they settled her straight for UB. But who know's :P not me. lol. That's just what I think.
@kananily16 It was broken during this meet, and if you notice her routine doesn't use her hand at all really. Roundoff skills put very little pressure on the hand...
you really need to give her a teenytiny break, guys. she fractured her hand, this was her first competition back from the injury. her performance at the 2007 nats. was not that bad, other than a fall.
she DOES HAVE A POTENTIAL as an aa. she just needs to keep working.
not exactly, she said she's afraid of UB from some childhood experience, not the height itseft, she got height when she does her beautiful double double, and maintains this skill for almost 5 years. She trained UB until the end of 07 to help her province team in the national competitions.
guess she was just too nervous... and with her hand injury, i'm sure she's already trying her best! she's still young, she'll have time to work on it. although, honestly, i'm getting a bit worried about it... maybe she should just stick to UB to be safe, but if she really wants to have a go at it, why not?
besides, YYL's injured anyway, so they're lacking AA talent... she could be their best bet for now, till YYL's back...=)
well, at least for now... i'm not taking DLL for granted, just thought she should just concentrate on BB, though i'm not saying she's got no potential! she's great, and so is JYY, but the latter lacks consistency...=| she hasn't been performing well on AA so far, frm what i see...
Bloody hell... That was an exercise in tenacity and pure bloody-mindedness.
I can't believe she actually completed that with her hand... She is pretty damn impressive to have gotten up there at all with a broken hand.

cruel chinese coaches. They probably made her compete

I like He Kexin and she is an amazing bar worker, but I don't think she could win the AA gold medal
humphrey861 2 years ago
the thing is, this competition was a week after she injured her wrist on the BB. She's a lot better now.
happystuff12345 2 years ago
@humphrey861 actually i think she could! she just needs to build up her strength on tumbling

I think He Kexin moved to a higher level, she wants now a AA Gold medal, but needs to work harder, And I know she can.

She's doing pretty well right now, this competition was just after she injured her wrist on BB... but she did pretty well considering that

She's actually pretty good on BB, this was just after she injured her wrist, actually, like, a week after she hurt in training on the BB
happystuff12345 2 years ago
wow, she's off balance. Even the crowd was being supportive. 'Bie zhao ji!'
And the guy was like 'Oh I have a feeling it's a high difficulty or she'd be good.'
Wrong. She's just really crap at BB sometimes.
Poor girl.

China is a country that cheats in gymnastics with underaged athletes. They should all be stripped of their Olympic medals.

this routine is very very awkward and unprepared, but this is just a start. who noes? she may be the all around champion some years later.

She fractured her palm though, too.
So that would do a number on consistency and routine success...

LOL is right
how does she have such terrible basics on the beam. 100% of everything she did on this beam was a fugly mess
she just about wobbled on everything and messy legs on the dismount
she does not have AA potential... they are wasting their time - and that's coming from the person who used to rave about her future as an AAer
