  • Whoah!! Didn't think I'd find anything by these guys on here! My dad played the sax in this song! He sang on the Mountaineers song Mississippi Sandman. And his name was Hal Hebert. Not Hervert.

  • How did this ever get past the censors? Maybe because this was a "hillbilly" record, they didn't pay that much attention it. It ranks up there with the famous "Old Man Mose" by some female singer around the same time ("He kicked the bucket, oh, fuck it!")

  • When Commander Cody covered this in 1973 in his Country Casanova album his record label in the UK- EMI decided to censor this song and removed it from the album.

  • found these guys via captain cody. censorship obviously sucked pre ww2 as well as today. great stuff!

  • lots of WS musos liked to smoke reefer and drink - reason this disc was banned is because if you listen carefully they keep inserting f***in's among the truckin's!! It's very clever, most people never notice it, but once you know you can hear it loud and clear!!
