  • DAM u people were soo bored :P

  • Nice groove :o)

  • Interesting rhythm...

You could make it an art form. Seriously, I mean Steve Reich has done very interesting work involving just a microphone and a few speakers.

'Misuse of technology is the first step towards art'

    - Peter

  • Interesting rhythm...

  • The mixing desk has to do warm up yoga in the morning to get the best results every pro knows that.

  • making music is not about moving the faders like this lol :D

  • spend thousands of dollars on a fader and you do this, sweet

  • What kinda sad pathetic human being can hate on this video?? Wtf? If you don't find it interesting that's fine but you DON'T have to be an asshole!!

  • for this reason only I would consider buying an ssl table..

  • How many sound professionals that don't like to goof off actually get hired? When you're that good, humor is essential.

  • Man, with a fader motor rated at 10 million+ cycles I those 80 you just did took off .0008% of it's lifespan... OMG GO EASIER ON YOUR EQUIPMENT!

  • lol.. way to impress your clients

  • I THINK THOSE FADERS HAVE A BETTER USE. YOU ARE GOING TO WEAR'M

    OUT LIKE THAT.

  • So thats how lil wane produced his album

  • what soes it do if there moterized like what makes them better?

  • @improfessoradam the faders automatically set themselves to the correct position to correspond with the track. You also get a physical interface to virtual volume envelopes.

  • @daxerexford its a digital console right?

  • @jimmis100gr The recording was done in ProTools, so I guess the signal has to "get digital" at some point.

  • @daxerexford And you can make them do really cool shit too

  • @improfessoradam Not sure on this board, but on fully digital boards, all the aux sends and stuff are removed from the channel. When you page from Master, to aux sends, to whatever, the faders all shift position to show what you have set on each channel, and then you just move it and it saves it, and then you can move on as usual.

  • @improfessoradam also when you are dealing with audio in the analog domain it gives you finer control over the levels because there are no steps. When controlling volume digitally what it is doing is lowering the binary representation of the volume which is done in progressive steps and at low volume it's hard to make subtle adjustments. Analog is infinite.

  • haha, da haben welche langeweile:-)

  • A total waste of energy, battery life, server space and time.

  • @The8ighthBit Best of luck in your quest to find deep meaning in your life by watching Youtube videos...

  • @The8ighthBit - lol obviously your not an audio gear head.

    Eat shit

  • @tbizhere well my friend. I happen to work in a production studio. I've been making music on gear similar to this for quite some time. I'm sorry if I came off as bitter but I call things how I see them. Apparently there seems to be some wearing down happening on the board. You can clearly see some of the faders working improperly. How about you show me what real 'GEAR HEADS' do in production and recording spaces ok. Post your vids, music or tutorials and teach me oh great one.

  • @The8ighthBit - I troll you ;)

  • @The8ighthBit

"I happen to work in a production studio. I've been making music on gear similar to this for quite some time ..."

    One small question ...

... How eactly do you control a Neve console from Fruity Loops ?

Had to ask, seeing as you say ...

"I use FL Studio 10, Adobe Audition 3 and live instruments (Keyboards, acoustic, electric and Bass guitars)."

... in one of your other comments on Youtube ;-)

  • @bluesman979 Whats up with the bashing on YouTube. You guys seem to take this stuff very seriously. I made one comment about the guy's use of his equipment. I'M SORRY, THAT'S TWICE. To answer your question kind sir, consoles are controlled by DAWs. Audition 3.0, as well as Pro Tools and Cubase, is a DAW. That's how I control the console we work on. It's very simple. Your answer was in your own comment. I use Fl and live instruments for production and Audition for mixing and recording. I'm sorry

  • @The8ighthBit

"You guys seem to take this stuff very seriously. "

Many do music professionally, (or aspire to) so "taking it seriously" would be the natural position for pros and aspiring artists/techs would it not ?

You don't seem to understand "cause and effect"

I hope for your sake (and everyone you have contact with in future) that you can grow and develop as a person

NOT treating everyone you come into contact with as an idiot from the off, might be a good start ;-)

    HTH

  • @bluesman979 Sir, I completely understand where you're coming from. I do. I too am looking for a deeper relationship with music. Now, I'll be the first to admit I have faults, but I'm no jerk. I'd give my fellow musicians the strings off my guitar before I'd display a pretentious attitude. That's why all my music on my page is free for everyone. Music and friendship are important to me. I did, however, feel your statement about FL and the Neve were meant to insult my intelligence. I'm no idiot

  • @The8ighthBit

I don't think FL could do it (and that is why I asked)

If I thought you were an idiot I'd say so, I'm not afraid to speak my mind (I tend to say as I see) ;-)

May I suggest that you might want to make it clear that you retain all rights to your music, but allow free use for individuals, as that would stop large corporations (for example) exploitiing you and your work for free ;-)

    HTH

  • @bluesman979 Thanks for the advice, I'll do that.

  • poor faders lol

  • The mixer: "Ok yeah... You know what, I do other stuff besides move my fucking faders......oh you wanna see the wave again do you? ...PLEASE GOD!!"

    XD

  • One might have thought that there may be a better use for an expensive bit of kit but I guess with the right drugs anything can happen.

  • @readerwriter You'd think so, but yeah, we paid for the studio time and then just sat around all day doing drugs and watching the faders fly and never recorded anything. Then we went back the next day and did it again. I had no idea there was another purpose for that thing, actually. Thanks for pointing it out.

  • @readerwriter thats funny!

  • you should get some little paper balls and try and get them in a cup using the faders.

  • Ha

  • dosent that fuck up the sliders and wear out the contacts REAL FAST?

  • We've all wanted to do it secretely ;-D

  • And it just goes to show you... You can have the best recording gear available, and still sound like shit

  • Okay can someone really tell me where i can do this in pro tools... is there like a pro tools program with presets...? or something

  • the most use i'd get out of that function is sampling all the clickety clack sound

  • does the mixing console come with some mixings presets? is this a preset¿?

  • @joacoviz It's just a demo of the motorized faders. The automation is stored on a computer hooked to the board. When you mix a sing it stores your movements, but this is just a gimmick to demo the faders. There would be no point to a "mixing preset", especially since whoever created the preset wouldn't know what you had assigned to which channel...

  • @daxerexford that's what i meant to say, i have a really poor english, so it's hard to express myself.

  • @joacoviz haha

  • i was just kidding...

i wonder if doing that for a long time doesnt damage the motors

  • @joacoviz I doubt anyone does it for a long time, but then again, that's what they were designed to do, so why would it damage them?

  • @daxerexford dunno but that would be a crazy mix for a rock song

  • @daxerexford I can't think of one mechanical thing in the world that doesn't break from extensive use. Especially something like this. If you can audibly hear the faders being blasted against the stops something has to be getting worn out.

  • @ShallowGroundDrummer What do I care if it breaks? It's not mine, I don't have to fix it or pay for it if it breaks and I didn't make it do this. Go to the Zing website and email them about breaking their own gear! All I did was take a video of something the engineer showed me.

  • @ShallowGroundDrummer Have you ever manually moved a fader to its stop? It makes a click just like these clicks. What makes you think the design of the faders includes a motor that's strong enough and maladjusted enough to 'damage' them beyond just moving them quickly with your hand? They are just doing what they were DESIGNED to do. It's a diagnostic test with a 'wow' factor. In the grand scheme it isn't going to 'break' them or wear them out fast enough to matter to anyone.

  • @joacoviz is video is nice how you do that?

  • looks like you have a lot of free time hehe

  • @joacoviz How do you figure that? I was there on paid studio time and the engineer was showing me something the board does during a break in the recording.

  • thats sick

  • THATS HOT !

  • hahaha! Mic it up and record the sounds the faders are making and you have a "unique" little rhythm track to spice something up with! : )

  • What automation system is that?

  • i am going to own one

  • What exactly is the point of motorized faders?

  • HAHAHA looks like when your out of inspiration on doing a song u can allways PLAY WITH YOUR FADERS :)))) cool !

  • Uptown Automation auto mix plus im faitrly sure. Judging by the fader test

  • What fucking douches. Whoever owns that board should beat those dude's asses, and then fire them.

  • Get exorcist there.

  • I bet it's the studio owner on the phone (who has previously installed a secret camera): what the f7ck are you guys doing there??

  • Nice way to wear the faders out prematurely... or at least the motors and bands.

  • I need to figure out how to do this on my vx5.

  • stop fuckin around n get some work done lol

  • im saying i have a controller how can i do that my tracks down go up and down i have 1 set db

  • Does your mixer have motorized faders?

  • how do you do that

  • It's controlled by a computer. When you move the faders the automation is recorded in the computer. On some boards, when you play a recording back, the faders move by themselves as though someone was pushing them because they're motorized. Of course you can create a 'track' which does nothing but move the faders in prefab patterns, which is what is happening here. There's home studio level stuff that does this, too.

  • hahaha :D looks like almost a million dollars of equipment in that studio and that brings the most joy (:

  • lol

  • Very similar with the Wave test on NEVE VR !

Btw Trident is a pretty good desk too :P

  • Wicked tatatatatatata TATA tatatatata :-D

  • rofl :D

  • Hahaha :D

  • haha thats so cool

  • wawawaw i want 1 wawawawawaw

  • for half a million dollars its all yours!

  • deal lol

  • Luckily this is not how newer consoles do this.

  • I have a trident series 70 for sale.

  • im very interested! shoot me a email!

  • Is the board still for sale?

  • I wish I had a Trident. ;(

  • hahaha i want one! not only can i mix i can have a new best friend! how does daw work?

  • Stop fucking with the trident and get to work Eric! =)

  • soon they will break off

  • nice desk

  • JAJAJAA VERY FUNNY DUDE

  • Fine drum machine.

  • sound like your hurting the mixer

  • nah, (well they will get worn Eventually)

but they are designed for fast movements (like full on too full off ect) so it really isn't that bad for the mixer

  • get ready for replacing the motors :P

  • i bet you could make some pretty cool music with that, like if you put some sort of tone producing object above some of the sliders and put a mic on either end of it for velocity or something

  • Yeah, have the faders strike piano strings and make a mixer piano!

  • that's cool! but have you seen the Vegas mode on an Icon ? Now, that's a demo!!!

  • WOW self cleaning faders???

  • hahah, those are sick

  • Sounds like a train :)

  • What model Trident is that a 70 series.

  • Is this how Adam D does his albums? Haha.
