i don't see much more buttons or funktions. Sure there is the advanced Software and Libary directly on the player. But what about the main functions.

If somone of you knows the "DJay"App for iPad/Mac: am i right that the 10$ app has the same function as one 1800$ CDJ2000. (except for inputs and outputs)

@bboyjay69 I think the point is that u can use both serato or cds (or usb or an external hard drive) . . . If you're gonna use a mouse and software all the time you probably wont need spend the money on this, but if you wont to expand your dj abilities or you're playing a live show and dont want to pull an Aoki, its good to have multiple outlets, dont depend on a shitty mac ever lol..

@bboyjay69 lol like having the BPM of the track right in front of you and using a deck that requires little to no adjusting is that much a long shot. especially in the 2000s case, you dont even need to set a proper loop anymore with the quantize feature. and ps, theres no sync button in serato. MIND YOU, i think CDJs are epic, but im not hating on anybody, a good show is a good show, forget about equipment

guys..the pioneers are really not my choise...if i have to choose between a digital solution this will be the technics mk 2 turntables with traktor scratch pro...much cheaper and the sane reliablity but much better controll....i think pioneer has lost the point..You can be a digital or a classic analogue dj....What is the reason of using pionneer instead of traktor...Sound quality is exactly the same.Both of them are DIGITAL..they have exactly the same quality...WTF guys happens with pioneers???

Might be a stupid question... but with the CDJ 2000 and DJM 800 why dont people ever use the digital in/out to connect the decks to mixer? Digital is far superior to L/R RCA jacks and have no degradation of signal. As far as i can tell using the digital coax to connect everything but your main speaker outs is better.

Is there any way to NOT have tracks on mp3 CDs appear in individual artist folders? My mp3 CDs burnt through iTunes all display multiple folders organised by artist name. I'd rather have all the tunes in one big list to make flicking through tracks easier.

I'm glad to see its 2010 and Pioneer is finally catching up to what Native Instruments and Virtual DJ has already done for six years. There is nothing offered on this hardware that you can't already do via software and time coding your decks to it (You also save a crap load of money). You could use that 5 grand you would blow on these to, you know, build an actual studio in your basement and produce your own music instead of playing other people's.

Okay, so I hooked up my external harddisk (LaCIE 1TB drive) to the CDJ2000 and pressed USB to get to my USB device but it said "no device". The harddisk works on a regular PC though. What am I doing wrong? Do I NEED to have Rekordbox installed on the external harddisk in order for the CDJ2000 to recognize it? Help anyone?

@brianonlinenl I had the same issue and i just checked the pioneer CDJ2000 FAQ and it says that NTFS format is not supported. Perhaps you could reformat in FAT? Should work :)

No ones using these, Haven't seen anyone touring with the 2000's... Not Tiesto, Armin, or Shultz... they weren't being used at Trance Energy.. nor at Sensation White... didn't see them at Coachella either. Haven't seen them at any clubs in Miami nor have I seen them at clubs in LA ,Vegas or at Gatecrashers in London. So this leaves me to question the pricing of these. Just goes to show you that you don't need expensive gear to be a good dj. Just gotta have a good taste in music ;)

the CDJ-2000 is for more experienced djs, if u are a new dj buy a CDJ-400, its easy and not nearly as expensive

Pioneer is going to kill themselves with this expensive of equipment. The secret is out that cdj's are just controllers with mini computers in them. Laptops will take over and be cheaper, but with equally sturdy midi controllers. This will be the new setup. Pio was good back in the day but will now have to make a new game plan for the new world of cheaply produced software.

Why do you need a screen on a computer? To see information. Having a larger display on the CDJ2000 allows you to find your tracks faster and easier than a single-line display.

You could buy other units for less, but there's a reason the competition is cheaper.

@xicot86 Denon isn't half as touch sensitive and the platter is the first mechinism to go.. just picked up the 2000's after much expierience with other players.. it takes some getting used to but it is by far the best player out there. Pioneer is the industry standard because they are always reliable.

Pionner sends a peace of paper along with the instruction manual stating that they are trying to improve the software redbox, and that you should check pioneer website fon regular bases for updates.

I think that's the reason theu postponed the release for the public twice, if you do not mind the LCD display, get the CDJ 1000, it will do the same job at the same level of excelence, they are prety much the same unit and same features if you do not consider the LCD and the needle search.

The LCD display Helps A LOT, you can browse the CD like browsing an IPOD. 2 thinks that realy desapointed me:

needle search, you can only use it if the track is on pause mode, or if you are playing the track on vinyl mode than press the jog wheel than use the needle search, you can not search the track on regular play mode.

Most desapointing thing, the software redbox, can not be controled by the CDJ 2000 yet!
