@timeisgoingby -.- Stop your ignorance, there is a comment section for a reason, People can say what they wan't no matter how immature and/or retarded. Just don't read them.
no incorect you use the guase to cover the anhesive then apply warm water to that gause to keep it warm so it will backfire the discomfort im on 17 and i no more than you do
@IfukedURgirl1 You may be 17 but you're a moron! YOU NEVER APPLY WARM GAUZE INSIDE OR AROUND A WOUND SUCH AS THESE SHOWN - EVER HEAR THE WORD INFECTION? IF SO, DID YOU EVER HEAR HOW BACTERIAL JUST "LOVES" WARM MOIST AREAS TO GROW & SPREAD? GROW A BRAIN!
@PaisleyPlace damn dude XD i had no idea what i said i was just browzing lolz :P chill i am not a fucking doctor u little bitch dick sucking hoe!!!!1 fuck uuu!
@IfukedURgirl1 I guess you wouldn't understand because you have nothing resembling an education other than your idiotic and misuse of profanity. You cannot even curse properly! LOL! Go back to the rock you have been living beneath popping the pills that destroyed your brain cells. I'd also suggest that you return to school in order to get an education before attempting to engage anyone in conversation as your skills are horrendously lacking.
@IfukedURgirl1 It doesn't surprise me with your lack of education. You are either a child with no comprehension or an illiterate adult who should consider taking the high school program offered at every community college for free. Perhaps then you would not be so "lost."
w8 a minute, if u have a hole in u like that, isn't beter to cut clean teh dead tissue, use some skin from thies of somewhere else and regrow that damn crater?
@marinciu1 Not necessarily. It's always best to allow a wound of this magnitude to heal in its own time w/antibiotics if necessary. It can heal, fill w/clean non-necrotic tissue, & the whole will close w/possible scarring but at the least it won't be fatal if sterility is maintained & no case of MRSA to complicate matters. It just takes time, rigid schedule of cleaning in a sterile environment, noticing changes & alerting the surgeon, while it heals.
@DustinTheGoth I actually came here b/c I'm forever checking my DH's feet b/c he's had type I diabetes (juvenile diabetes) for some 44yrs now & the last thing I want to find on his feet that I could have missed is a pressure wound or any type of wound/blister; I don't think I could forgive myself if I let something like this go knowing it would possibly cause him to wear a prosthesis or more likely than not, put him in a wheelchair.
@DustinTheGoth I've already spent some 12yrs keeping myself out of a wheelchair only to spend a little over a year in one w/doc's convincing me this was it & I couldn't fight my way out but I did it. I spent 14mos in a wheelchair but I got out & I'm not looking to go back soon nor do I want my husband to be confined to one either b/c he already said he wasn't living that way....It's the fear talking but still, it scares me all the same (health is complicated right now; for both of us)
One thing I have not seen adressed and that is when a person is on a pca and pain killers then this initself should put the patient in special care so as not to get a pressure ulcer if the Patient looses a sense of discomfort when being in one position to long then the patient does not reposition because there is no pain because of the pain medicine.
@123teets because most of todays doctors have no experience in effective paintherapy. painkillers are not for paralysing people, they are for killing pain, and not switching off ability to feel anything / lose control of your senses and body
@123teets That's why the pt needs to be routinely checked for pressure ulcers and turned frequently. Any conditions that may place the pt at greater risk for pressure ulcers needs to be carefully assessed as well.
@toxicshockttaco It's also important to check for ulcers following any punctures in the skin such as in the feet. A friend with type II diabetes had loss so much sensation in her feet that she walked around most of the day w/a roofing nail in her foot & didn't know it until she went to take her shoes & socks off at home. Her oldest son saw blood & immediately checked the wound then picked his mom up & took her to the ER; it got worse b4 better but it did get well, thank goodness
@toxicshockttaco Something like that scares the hell out of me w/DH b/c he's loss a lot of sensation in his lower legs, feet, & hands. I'm always afraid of diabetic-induced ulcers. I know they're a different type but they're both dangerous & even deadly if not treated immediately & over time until healed. Another friend has to be checked freq b/c she's a quad thx to a 6x guilty drunk driver who never spent any time in prison, which is wrong on so many levels.
@toxicshockttaco I'm so thankful she has a loving family who take care of her & she was using a mouth stick, tho I believe she's using VR now. She was on her way for her wedding gown fitting w/her fiance when the man hit her. It broke her back leaving her a quadriplegic & the asshole drunk walked away w/o so much as a scratch! He's never spent any prison time & he's ruined & taken lives of many & wedding was called off by fiance; so much for in sickness & in health, the coward!
The nurse when flushing with saline should not have a 18gauge needle attached to the syringe when flushing ... The whole point of it is to slough off necrotic tissue, as do most wet to dry dressings. More hand pressure would cause the saline to be more forcefully within the wound. The nurse in this video is a retard.
A lot of times even though the patient is rotated multiple times during shift there are only so many positions they can be put into while immobile. So it has nothing to do with "doing your job" it can sometimes happen with immobility.
I agree if the care givers, nurses and doctors do their jobs these weak people would not saver this much. It is like living in a war. Very sad it made me to cry and ask God to help these people. Amin
Not really, most common cause of ulcers are usualy people with diabetes, people with diabetes suffer ulcers like you wouldn't believe, and they easily get that bad, I don't think it's neglect it's the patient themselves, if you're diabetic you must check your feet all the time and around your body as well, keep yourself clean and you can avoid these problems. An ulcer for a diabetic can easily be started by just one scratch, once it gets infected it is a nightmare

A lot of times there isn't much you can do about pressure ulcers, no matter HOW many times you turn the patient. Some people are just prone.
