@MissJanisa i received a strong A, although looking back i feel like i could have executed this much better. as long as you sound credible and genuine, you should be fine. good luck.
friend,... do you have any idea why we are at war?....war is a scam. you profit nothing..i profit nothing....all you lose is your life for some corporation. as for rethinking anything..nah
if you smoke..and die..that does not affect me..if you go to a topless club and party..that does not affect me..if you go to war..that does not affect me.( granted i can do all these items also)..yet the reason i dont want 18 yr olds to drink is cuz they are irresponsible, when they drink.!! yep...18 yr old do damn stupid things...and especially when they drink and drive....they kill people.......so thus.. ban on the 18..yr old......................
you are missing the most important point: teens are going to get drunk no matter where you put the drinking age. i doubt that the amount of teenage drinkers would change in the slightest if you lowered the drinking age to 18. As an 18 year old myself, I can tell you that I have never had a problem getting beer on a weekend night. There is no way to stop kids from drinking. Instead, they are simply forced to be criminals and are not properly educated about how to drink responsibly.
In Greece i use to buy beer at 5 yrs old for my grandad.. at 10 i would drink it with him. it was no big deal.. But here in America drinking is taboo. but it is not the drinking that is really taboo..it is the youth in the usa who are irresponsible. YOU may not be... but thier are too many who are..and that is why it folds here...sorry. move to greece or something..maybe figi.
have you thought that maybe american youth act that way because of the restrictions on drinking. maybe the fact that you experienced alcohol in such a casual and responsible way is why you didn't go crazy with it. maybe americans kids abuse alcohol because that's the only way they know how to drink it, because they are never exposed to it in any other setting. and chill with the ellipsis.
well, be it as it may... (my ellpsis's stay)... and the drinking age has,...and probably will not move. If you want the truth, the flaw is much deeper than teens drinking, that is but the symptom. Back in the 50's guys would bring rifles to schools, leave them in the gun rack of their trucks, and leave the trucks unlocked. try that today... Bro, ..people have changed...its not the same (...) sorry.
1. I think an "irresponsible" teen owning a lethal weapon and being able to vote for your elected officials affects you.
2. Teens get drunk no matter what - it is EXTREMELY easy for people under 21 to get alcohol. As the video says, teens are even more likely to drink when they are told they can't. The point is that they should be allowed to do it, in stead of being criminals for doing it. Because, rest assured, teens will get hammered. They should be educated, not simply told they can't.
if thats the case y not drop it to 15 so that they have a few years to see what ALCHOHOL duz to you instead of already being able to drive and then try drinking for the first time and risk mixing them together first chance you get to see the outcome cuz if u get drunk and then wake up the next day u see what alcohol duz and how trying to drive in that state dusnt work instead of thinking "oh ive been driving for a few years now i know what im doing im sure being drunk isnt that bad" then crash
by the time you reach that certain age when you WANT to start drinking, well its basically your decision. if your family has a problem with it they should solve it, but that doesnt change the fact.
i mean look at italy. no drinking age, no smoking age. is it on the verge of collapse? no. is the % of population that smoke or are alchoholics high? not particularly.
i dont really think the government has any right to stop you from ruining your own life.
you had a good argument at first then you lost it, i could care less about the drinking age. also beacon of hope? really come on that was just sad, all i have seen is imminent bankruptcy
basically saying that if they know it doesn't matter if they get caught and its legal for them, they won't binge as much, and probably get bored with it like 21 year olds. personally we do have worse things causing deaths in our country anyway. give us alcohol!
i've heard stories from people after they turn 21, that they hit up a few bars because it's legal now, and then it gets really boring afterwards. if that's true then 18 year olds won't have to sneak around after hours and drive home drunk, if it was legal they wouldn't have to hide it from their parents and would probably be allowed to spend the night
If they do lower the drinking age, that just means more need for Health classes to actually go over the stuff that goes hand in hand with alcohol. Like sex, drugs, and your body. Health classes have always appeared scared of going into detail, and because of that, teenagers still go about it half hazardly. Teens that binge drink are just dumb kids wanting to act cool by downing shitty cheap beer. They should teach us better than they are now. They have always sucked at their job.
i would support this because the only thing that law does is make it slightly harder to get alcohol, people still do it. Few listen to that law, so why have it
WOW DAMN DUDE U HAVE A BIG GIAGANTIC POINT , not cuz we shuld drink when 18 , cuz they give us all of these dangerous rights and they dont let 18 yr olds drink
lol im only 12 i got to this vid by ur elegy vid:P
ok (nice elgy cover btw, thats how i got to this vid) but anyway the drinking age is 21 because alcohol alters the brain. the brain is stll developing when you are 18 and stops when you are 21. yes, i will agree that the age being 21 does increase binge drinking but the government is just trying to be responsable and make people not screw up their heads. i am in favor of it being changed to 18 even though im straightege and dont drink.
Good point. I think when it comes down to being practical, the law should stay. I live in SoCal so even if I wanted to buy alcohol, Mexico is a short trip away :P
@thedrill255 Fiction. Those studies are bogus. If you actually read them, most of the studies they used to prove that "fact" were done on adolescent mice given large amounts of alcohol and adolescents who were all ready severe alcohol abusers. Maybe massive amounts of alcohol do affect 18 year old brains more than 21 year old brains but there is absolutely no evidence to show that moderate drinking does so.
@thedrill255 So you think Europeans have damaged brains ?.... Think again. Europeans are actually the most intelligent people on earth, and live longer than Americans, because they eat better food as well. All great science and engineering comes from Germany. They have damaged brains ?... no. But there is education about it in Europe. And there's lack of edu. here in the US. It is has nothing to do with age. It's more the consumptions. there are 40 year olds who die of alcohol poisoning.
It also differs for everyone, The common age in which the Brain fully develops is 25. Should we hold every adult activity until you are 25? I don't think so, your argument is retarded.
This was a great video.

There's a reason they changed it from 18 to 21.
Take all of those statistics, and swap them around, cause that's what you could see happening if it's taken down to 18.

maybe the age is 21 because alchohal stops brain development and you brain is still developing at age 18.
gabe940 2 years ago 2
I think they actually changed it from 18 to 21 Because of drunk driving.
And not really like that, the Federal government kind of black mailed states into doing it, All states have different rules too,
Like in Ohio your allowed to drink under 21 if your parent lets you or if your wife/husband is 21 and your 18.
+ alcohol doesn't really make you retarded in moderation. If that is true then a lot of people must be pretty stupid, from drinking before 21.
