Quantum Leap was fine the way it is, few i can see being remakes as long work on storyline and plots. The others should not bother be honest dumb ideas from the beginning.
I'd only watch "Dark Skies" if it were handled like a bad Beatles tribute band--all the right guitars, but the wrong look and wrong accent. Plus an evil villian would have to be at the center of things, (Dr. Smith?) for me to even check out a single frame of it.
I would love to see many of these remade but I think the unfortunate reality atleast for now is most don't watch Tv the way we did back then and it sucks and I include myself. I've lost a lot of intrest in todays tv too many stupid unentertaining moronic shows are the norm.
Yes to SAAB, Firefly, but mostly one you left off, FARSCAPE, FARSCAPE, FARSCAPE. Although with Farcsape I don't necessarily want a reboot, I want the original characters stories continued. And D"Argo didn't die on that planet.
Galaxy Rangers, done today? The animation quality would go to complete shit. I.e. Iron Man Armor Adventures, the new Voltron and GI Joe series. Unless they gave a quality studio the project (which they wouldn't), i.e. Whoever does Naruto (I HATE Naruto but the animation is fantastic), Gurren Laggan and FLCL, Basilisk, Avatar the Last Airbender, something along those lines and it'd be fantastic.
@lovejen01 Manimal was actually a good concept, just horribly executed. Of course as a kid I liked the series. LOL Loved Thunderbirds and Lex (it was supposed to be campy and jacked up) Space Rangers is actually pretty good when you go back and watch. What hurt the show is they did the series in a time were people were moving to more on location filmmaking and were moving to cgi etc.
Remake B5? Why on Earth would you do that? Would you go and repaint the sistene chapel? No, course you would'nt. I dont remember a lot of those, but some of them looked awful (manimal, the superman knock-off, c'mon!).
But, UFO would be a good candidate. The dark plot and the whole alien abduction and secret organisation fighting back has a lot going for it. But it would have to be done right and not turn into a scif-fi soap opera like new Battlestar Galactica.
Babylon 5 would actually be near impossible to remake due to the fact the story has already been told, and doesn't need re-imagining. How about just creating a new story within the B5 universe? Although it would need someone with JMS' drive to tell a complete story over 'x' seasons, rather then relying on a committee of rotating writers who plan out what happens a week in advance.
@lovejen01 Yes, but you have to take into account that JMS wrote his series bible and pitched the series Paramount. They said they weren't doing any more Trek and then lo and behold wam they come out with DS9 which had elements of the original series bible as he had made changes by then. Who knows if they copied or not.
@TheBwmm but when did pitch to Paramount was after DS9 came out or they already had DS9 planned it during that pitched the idea? Sorry B5 fans but they copied Star Trek overall from the original to DS9. Again sorry to B5 fans it was not that good of a show, that is my opinion.
@lovejen01 So he was inspired by it. Who wasn't as with many series and movies inspired by Metropolis. Plus remember that Star Trek is Wagon Train in space.
@lovejen01 Sorry Trek fans, B5 was FAR superior to DS9. The story and characters were far better, the show was more intriguing and it was done with a fraction of the money. DS9 was easily the best of the later incarnations of the franchise, but B5 had a grittiness all Treks lack.
@RCTPatriot75 well the way i saw it, the acting was bad, characters were not even interesting. What grittiness you are talking about? The show used the same cliches other show have used and still using. As i was saying the B5 copied the entire Star Trek Theme going back to the original Star Trek.
@SamHagagaga Shows that are brought back for a second season after being cancelled are never as good as the first for some reason. Probably the fact that the writers have moved on to other series as well as the actors etc. and other crew.
Are you kidding???? over Half these shows show NEVER need to be REMADE. Your scraping the bottom of the barrel here. Except B5 which is GOOD as it is. Hollywood NEEDS to come up with ORIGINAL ideas rather REHASHING old "mostly" failed TV shows of the past. At least in their DAY all these show were ORIGINAL in concept which IS what made us like them in the first place. To rehash them is just obscene. They need to make NEW shows with new CONCEPTS.
a new series of mission impossible would be what the doc ordered. the movies were so far of the mark, good in thier own right but not like the series at all. where teamwork, tension, a complex plot and inguinity completed the mission.
I remember watching a show when I was little in the early to mid 90's and I can't remember the name of it. One show was about a family that every time they lowered something into their water well treasure would come back up in the bucket or whatever was lowered into it would turn into treasure. Another was about a man trying to catch a fish and the fish cast out a apple on the bank and the fish drug him into the water. Any idea what show this was?
Hehe I'm kinda worried about the remake of Edge of Darkness, gonna check it out next weekend. let's face it, remakes are only good if they are done well, otherwise it's a tar on the memory!
Babylon 5 was sooo ahead of it's time...

Wow - that brought back a few memories. Some I did not recognise, perhaps they were only shown in the US, but I agree, many should be rebooted.
cosworth6nut 1 year ago
You don't need to remake a series just becuase it used to be on TV.
Some are fine the way they are (B5).
Some only work because of our fond memories for them.
Some actually may profit from a remake.
Or simply if allowed to finish their story arc (Firefly)
Some only worked they way they did because of when they were made
And some just plain sucked.
