This video is made up of moments in someone's life that are memories for them and were considered worth recording. I can't believe all the hate and angst that gets posted!!!!! I am moving to Fairbanks from NC in two months, and although this video was not reflective of everything that Fairbanks has to offer, it was still worth watching to me. My husband and I will be bringing our 4 small children, and we are both professionals with lucrative careers and neither of us are drunks....
Im going to move to Fairbanks and im not an idiot! Im moving there to get away from the city, can't stand the city! and im happy its winter for 9 months! i live in Canada and its way to hot! i love the cold!!!
Fairbanks is not a society. They cant figure out running water in over half the town, there is one legitimate restaurant (Chili's), there is over 7 separate fire departments that can't figure out whos doing what and where, its winter 9 months out of the year, its 50 below for 2 months out of the year, its 100 above randomly for a month in the summer, cars dont work, and the people are all drunk natives. Fairbanks sucks,
Obviously you have never lived in Anchorage, or any actual city. I have, therefore I can say that comparatively, Fairbanks sucks. You my friend, are the ignorant one. You are proof that people that choose to live in Fairbanks are idiots.
word to life son? i dont care what the video is above, your making me dumber for reading that shit you wrote. go back to high school or stay off the internet please.
NOTE: Not all folks living in Alaska live in shacks and look like granola crunchers. I attended school in FBKS from 1979-88. Here's what I learned living in FBKS. Theres one week during July worth even stepping foot in that town. It's a crap hole. Bringing a family to FBKS to raise children, NOT the right thing to do. In fact, I think anybody who is IGNORANT enough to want to raise children in the FRIGID ARCTIC is INSANE and must be running from REALITY. STAY OUT OF FAIRBANKS
And that is why we're glad you left. Hate to say it, but the town changed a LOT since you left. Believe it or not, we have *gasp* electricity! And running WATER! Oh my! Hey, why don't you just stay where you are, b/c we're doing pretty well up here without you. And yeah, I'm typing this in IN Fairbanks, on a COMPUTER (oh my!) with cable internet.
You know, that message could work in favor of Alaskans. Less people wanting to move to Alaska means more beautiful to go around for others!
I was happy to see your reply to maletradedup's post because I was personally offended to read it. I'm moving up there myself in a couple years. Not exactly Fairbanks but close to it. (Anchorage for a year and then maybe to Kenai or Sterling) And I hope to live there for the rest of my life which definitely includes marriage and raising my children there.
Im moving to Alaska after this summer and im goin to Hutchison high school. The place looks really boring.I dont wanna be mean but what do u guys do there for fun..lol
Man the Big AK rules. I used to live there and I am going back up there next september for college. The snow machining, fishing, hunting, parasailing, the people are awesome. They have malls, movie theatres, and resturants just like everyone else.
I have been all over the earth and have not come across a place more beatiful than Alaska. Its truly an expirience that will change your life.
Fairbanks is insane I will not lie. Try to move south of innerstate 3. (Wasilla, Anchorage, Homer ect)
This movie makes me sad. I have lived in Fairbanks for 3.5 yrs and this is what I thought my life would be like when I moved here. Its not. I need to change that. Great music, and the run down the Delta looks like fun.
Thanks to adding to the misconception that Fairbanks ak is a bunch of cabins in a frozen wasteland. Maybe the frozen wasteland part is true, but its just like any other modern city. It seems most movies and videos commercially produced perpetuate this image. That we live in cabins and igloos, or tents? Sounds funny, but more people outside than you probably think actualy believe this. More fitting title, Camping in Alaska's back country, not Fairbanks.
If people want to believe that Fairbanks is just "Eskimos" and igloos with no modern technology, then let them. Those are the kind of idiots no wants in Alaska anywayz! By the way, I thought the video was excellent. What a beautiful place!!
holy shit are u tryin to ruin the economy of this city?......jesus our town isnt as dreary as this video makes it out to be, theres actually people and houses and even cars
I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fairbanks is a place that is very tangibly colder. I enjoyed this video and it helped me to get a feel for this amazing place in the world with its severe continental climate and probably wonderful inhabitants. I hope Fairbanks is never very large. That could only happen if Al Gore's stark predictions are ever a reality. Do you currently live in Fairbanks?

Best regards from Norway:)

I think the point is "ignorance is bliss..." That's the way I took it at least.
I live in Fairbanks and I think this is a lovely little video. It captures so much of why I live here.
Gotta ask who's the girl singer who's song frames the middle part of the video? It's a really nice song.

lol Anchorage. That dump town wishes it knew what it means to be a city.
Fairbanks I would never call a city either, but I would prefer that town over Anchorage any day.
And just because it's a chain doesn't make it a "legitimate" restaurant. There are sooooo many better places to dine in Fairbanks than Chilis. ;)
And what's not to love about extreme temps??
