A way to make the lettuce even cheaper, if you have the space, is to grow it in a garden! You only need a large plant pot, and you can find many wonderful gardening videos on youtube. Seeds only cost about $2, and I've used the lettuce from that seed packet for 3+ years! Making the garden will cost around $10, but you save alot in the long run!
I have a simple pasta dish . I boil pasta with sea salt and olive oil and in another pan I add olive oil diced of roma tomato fresh oregano salt pepper galic and cook for a few minutes and then when pasta is soft enough I am the pasta to my pan and top with fresh parm .This is simple and yummy
I love Ur videos, Thanks so much. I see Ur point from both angles. My 2 kids & I on the go would get 3 .99 burgers, a small fry & small soda w/free refills $5 & tax. I did the tuna casserole w/mac&cheese/mushroom-soup/canned-peas. Also cheap are chillimac, shephard's pie,.
I love that you took the constructive criticism so well. You are a great guru, and so nice and not arrogant You did so good in the tips in this video! Thank you!
i love you voice it's so calming and soft ^^ i did take ur advice and tried to make(with my family) the soup(i used a different bag of veggies but you get the point) and i ate bread on the side and it was fantastic. I hope to keep seeing more of ya'. subbed ;]
Try this for a salad dressing. I use it for both a tossed salad and my steamed vegetables.
1 TBS apple cider vinegar
1 TBS balsamic vinegar
1/2 TBS Realemon
2 TBS orange juice
a squirt of spicy brown mustard
This combination tastes great. Please give it a try....Virtually no calories and no fat. I started eating healthier about 1 1/2 years ago and have lost 50 pounds. 198 down to 148, and feel great!!!!! Blood pressure & cholesterol is now good. This is with a change in diet. No medication..
I subscribed months ago but I am slowly making my way through your videos as I get the time. You are a joy to watch and you are so likeable. Great tips for a poor student like me! Thanks sister!
Good job, try Brown rice, frozen veggies, canned tuna and stock cubes. All you need to cook a dinner for pennies. Cook veggies in a little water and 1/2 stock cube, add the canned tuna and serve with the cooked brown rice. Simple dinner which costs hardly anything.
Great ideas! I like to grow my own herbs in little potts on my window sill during the colder months, and in the summer I put them outside. They add a lot of flavour to your meals, and are very healthy! Cheap too, because they keep growing year round.
TACOS: very healthy, low in fat & high in protien AND CHEAP! NEED: ground turkey meat 1 package of corn tortillas tomatoes lettuce non stick and non fat spray COOK: -Brown the turkey meat & season to taste. -Use non stick spray and spray corn tortillas and heat up on skillet. -cut up tomatoes & lettuce
cheap and healthy-vegetable pot pie...bag of frozen vegetables of your choice,a little seasoning of your choice and 1-2 cans of cream of mushroom or some type of cream soup of choice,2 c flour and 1c milk....throw the vegetables in a baking dish pour soup over vegetables and mix together flour and milk and spoon over the vegetables and soup ...bake for 30 min or until crust is golden brown...6 servings and vegetables and soup together are about $3 if you keep flour and milk at home
Great tips. Although rather used a jar pasta sauce, you would save more money using a canned tomatoes, add water, reduce it, and then add the frozen vegetables and seasonings.
I make a fruit salad that is cheap. I take 3 bananas, 1 peach and a hand full of strawberries. I cut them up into bite size pieces and stir them together in a big bowl. The juices from the 3 fruits mix and make a nice sauce in the salad and now you are ready to eat!!
You can always add your own favorite seasonings to each day to add extra flavor. You can also add meat products to each dish to give your food an added kick, Let me know what you come up with.
Your healthy eating is definitely working! My husband came across me watching your video and said, "Who´s THAT!" Then he rolled my chair aside and KISSED the computer monitor!
Thanks so much great video..I do eat healthy and you know money can be tight. This was informative and creative.I like to bargain shop and also be creative in the kitchen.
I love breakfast burritos. You can saute your favorite veggies, start with the veggies that take the longest to cook such as potatoes. I used diced potatoes, peppers, garlic, black olives tomatoes, zucchini, onions and whatever else I can think of that I might have on hand. I don't always use the same veggies it just depends. After sauteing, add in an egg and cook it with the veggies and then add a small amount of cheese and salsa. Wrap it in a heated tortilla and serve.
wow that sounds great. it reminds me of an omelet but yours is loaded with veggies . . . whick i love. and to make it healthier you can use canola oil to saute your veggies and cook your eggs with. it's phenomenal.
Great vid, these tips are definitely useful if people want to continue healthy eating on a tight budget. More ideas are tuna salad on pita with low fat cheddar or pepperjack cheese (tuna melt) with tomato bisque ($1.79 campbells soup) or plain tomato soup ($1.79 campbells soup); fish sandwiches; yellow rice with baked fish or chicken (if you're not vegetarian); baked tortilla chips + sliced avocado; mango + low fat vanilla yogurt/ice cream wrapped in tortilla; oatmeal souffle's for breakfast.
You are brilliant! Thank you so much for finding all these creative ways to save, eat, and live. Especially in times like this...more people need to watch these videos!
Learning how to preserve food is a good way to save on the budget. I was able to learn how several years ago when I took a master food preserver's course. We also got to keep the food we made. The cool thing about this class was that in return for 50 hours of volunteer time the classes were free. I don't know if they still do it, but I took mine through a local home extension office that was affiliated with a state university. Preserving food from the summer allows you to enjoy it all year.
For those with green thumbs, a garden is a good way to grow that healthy and sometimes expensive food. There is a website that has to do with square foot gardens, in that you preserve space, time and energy but still have lots of produce as a regular garden. I just recently found out about it and want to try it for next year. If you google square foot gardens you can find the website. On the soup thing, I like Ragu but, Hunt's spaghetti sauce is much cheaper where I live.
great video! i have question about boitin pills .. they said that will help to grow your hair and nails.. i mean is it true.. i mean can you help me for understanding.. thank you girl..
my favorite dish is boneless skinless chicken breast (grilled or fried if you prefer) and your favorite veggies. the frozen food aisle has a assortment!

ohh, and for those of you who like beans, you can either make pinto bean soup, add some frozen mix vegetables or lentil soup and add the veggies also. There you have your veggies, your protein and then you can have a little bit of brown rice or whole wheat bread or whatever you decide. under $5 also. to make it easy I cook my beans in the slow cooker over night and when I come back from work, I just add veggies and seasoning, and is ready...
you can have salad, I like to buy the one with everything in it, a bag $2.28 makes three salads for me, I also add tomatoes, ranch dressing 1 tbsp, almonds for protein and avocado, I usually eat one, but you can eat half, and believe you'll be full. Drink your water before or after, never with your meals. You can also eat chick peas and veggies, whole wheat toast or wheat bread, or brown rice. Everthing is under $ 5.00... and delicious
Califlower soup is my fav! Saute onions with a bit of olive oil (5 minutes). Blend califlower/onions with 2 cups of water. Return to pot. Add low fat sour cream, sage, salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot. Very good for you and filling. My favorite!
Thank you for the comment. Yes, I made this shirt. Maybe I will do a DIY video on it later. Once again, thank you so much for supporting The Discount Trendsetter Show.

Great video! I'll have to try the veggie soup that way I have never thought of doing that. Thanks!
