Take your notebook to bed to read with. It does what a notebook does, but broadens the range of what you do. Cassettes were horrible, but try taking vinyl to the beach. And CDs allowed you the fidelity, and portabiity. And in 2011, vinyl still sounds better. The product is defined not just by what it does, but how its done, and usability (portability in this case). Of course, now there is the Xoom.

Great honest commentary that was not over exaggerated due to being an apple fan. I've similarly been waiting to see any purpose for using an iPad, and with innovations like this and more magazines taking a liking to the device, I'm beginning to see it's value. Merging books, magazines and social media. After which, general web browsing, gaming, music and video make this overall package worth paying for.

@madesina yeh, but for the same price you can get a pretty beastly laptop and it's all u need. ipad needs a computer just to put stuff on it and no webcam. And it's not as portable as some of the other pocket size gadgets. i bet most people already have a smart phone and a computer already...so why does anyone really need one again ? their good the marketing guys at apple, let's make it do less than the other gadgets, but make it sexier and more expensive. yeah !

@QuiteNot Really, until ipad's and other such devices can 'do' more, they are just a pointless device that people want. Recently my laptop broke and i thought, maybe i'll get an android tablet - at least then i have flexbility with what i can do with it (like the Asus Transformer). But i'll continue to wait. Ps. I'd rather not read magazines on my pocket sized iphone 4. to be honest when i'm at home, small laptops are kinda crap AND they slow down so quickly! Tablets generally speaking don't.

Can't add Facebook or twitter integration. Their servers are too backed up
