Overall, pretty good performance. I am happy to see high schoolers working with strings. The performance is very choppy (I even see one tenor bouncing in rhythm). I love the sense of ensemble and togetherness and the choir's ability to watch the conductor. Watch

I'm doing this song too for a festival and I have ONE month to learn it and I don't have the music yet. I don't even practice with the whole choir until the day of the concert. I'm freaking out a little bit. You were saying that you worked for months on this???
No need to fret. I had the same problem back in like November of last year I think. AS long as your conductor is good, you should be perfectly fine. It is such a fun peace!
i would like to say about the GA comment...i am from Georgia and we sang this song at the Governor's Honors Program and it was PERFECT. better than this, but our group was 27 of the most talented high school vocalist in GA with our "southern drawls". screw you. not all of us have them by the way. by the way...the alto solo was all over the place. you should clean that shit up.
Good thing there's no such thing as perfectiong. Just because you sang it differently than us doens't mean you have to go and fucking trash this. We got gold, and we deserved it by working on this peice for fucking MONTHS. And our alto solo was all over the place? Is not, it's a fucking recording. So we don't need to clean shit up. I'd like to hear your so called 'PERFECTLOL' performance. Can't top this, thanks :].
First off, I'd like to hear how you blend in Georgia with your Southern drawls. Second, this is a terrible audio recorder, so that will account for whatever "dynamics" you don't think you hear. As for solos, it's MICCA--you're not supposed to have solos. It's about the best group, not the best soloist. But who cares about your opinion anyway? We won gold, so i guess you wouldn't know good musicianship if it ate your face off.
Who ever said I was from Georgia? Im pretty sure Im not. And I was just asking why they werent solos - not criticizing it. Anyways, I will concede that some of the things I have a problem with probably do come from the recorder, but it still sounds like it is the same "loudness" the entire time. Congrats on getting gold though - Im sure you earned it.
Ick. My madrigal group sang this.. and I would say we were better. The group in this is too clumped together - all the sound is being absorbed by the people in the choir itself, making it sound not as full as it could be. Also, there isn't any blending among the sections.. Sounds harsh almost.
There is definately blending in the group. And i'm not saying this because I am in this group, but we have one of THE best Choral teachers in our area, and he's anal about blending and I think we blend perfectly fine. And the solos, they sound so much better in our chorale with the whole sections singing them. Even one of the judicators said so.
WHen I was int 10th Grade, the Georgia All-State Choir performed this. This was back in 1998. I still remember the words. What a wonderful performance of this amazing piece of music. Well Done.
I am sorry, but your director's choice to make the solos choral ensemble portions of the music was disgusting. We sang this at my high school and the phrasing you used on the alto solo was very off. There are only supposed to be two breaths during that solo. Yes it is possible; I can do it! Good balance though!
Oh i know...we hate the song...when we sing it...lol...but it is amazing to listen to...I think the reason we hate it is because our director made us memorize it and Adoramus te, Christe for our concert...lol...
I had to sing this song for Regional Choir in Phoenix, AZ. I hated it. It was like twenty pages long, in latin, in a crazy key signature, and turquoise. We used to call it the beast.
Now it's one of my favorite songs. Period. In life. I would give anything (well not anything but a lot) if I could find it on itunes or something. This has to be one of the best choral songs ever written. You're lucky you recorded it.
Our choir is doing this exact same song for our Large group contest....lol...we sound almost exactly alike...cept...we have an individual person from each part for the solos...and we are too cheap for a band...lol...haha
Good overall put too choppy and bouncy in parts especially the over powering violinist.

we also sing it in a higher key. I don't

I think the choir did beautifully, but for some reason it felt like the strings were slowing you down. Beautiful performance though.
