@apple8kamk modern warfare? lol I've read a lot about it. Also the mexican army was willing to buy some so when I was in, they received some and gave us some instructions of the capabilities of them. The fx05 was also part of those in tests, but HK just managed to make a deal and delivered thousands of g3's and g36's and those tavors just ended up in Colombia I think.
@leongaines As of now, it's not available at all in the US due to the import laws. Unless they begin to be manufactured in the US or IMI creates a sporting version that can be imported, and then built back to it's original form, they won't come to the US.
@leongaines want one in the U.S.? first try to find one man, don't see a single one in L.E. agencies anywhere, I'm guessing on market here it would probably be expensive(rare in America)
I have mixed feelings about the TAR-21... on the one hand, it's a really interesting weapon and has apparently proven itself to the IDF (which is definitely a very good recommendation), but on the other hand, its exterior is still mostly polymer... and I hate plastic fantastics...
So jealous of you right now, we can't get these rifles in the United States. Though it's a trade off considering that I live in Texas and I can get anything short of....
Wait? What the hell is illegal in Texas short of explosives? I can more or less get any type of firearm as long as I fill out the correct paperwork.
Still really want that Tar-21. Guess I'll stick to my high capacity mags.
@Fatalshot24, I'm not saying that we can't own it. Obtaining it is a different story. The Tavor was never imported into the states due to the import deal falling through. So if I wanted a Tavor, I would go through a lot more paperwork and money, just to import it into my hands. There's also the fact that it's not technically a "Sporting Rifle." For Instance, when was the last time you've seen a civilian FA-MAS?
@Fatalshot24 It is not legal in the US because of 922(r). Basically no "non sporting" weapons are legal to import. It would only be legal if it was manufactured here. Same reason why all the AK's you see are made of mostly US tapco parts.
@airsoftdude1990 "Mostly" is an extreme overstatement. AKs need either 5 or 6 domestic parts (usually depending on whether it's a milled or stamped variant)...generally, the FCG (3 parts), piston (1), and two other parts are used (receiver, barrel, PG, brake, follower, etc).
The Tavor could be imported in a "sporting" configuration and converted for 922r compliance quite easily. It already uses US-made magazines, so it only needs 2 or 3 more components (trigger, piston, etc) for compliance.
@earthwormjah From what I’ve seen the TAR is the equivalent to our SCAR, and in Russia their equivalent is their AM-94. Not every regular Joe get’s a TAR it’s more for the elite, I see most of the IDF soldiers carrying M16’s and M4’s.
@ST4leave The AN-94 is, I believe, a highly modified Kalashnikov. The Israelis used to use a Kalashnikov variant called the Galil, which was drop dead reliable but expensive and heavy. The Tavor has been used by I.D.F infantry for a few years, and the MTAR (micro Tavor) is now the standard I.D.F infantry rifle, but, because they are expensive and the Israelis have tons of M4's, the M16/M4 isn't going anywhere. The Tavor is in use with every I.D.F infantry unit except for Tzanchanim.
@ST4leave for a long time short barrel M4's where a special forces weapon/status symbol in the I.D.F, but now regular I.D.F units are using the MTAR. The Israelis do lots of urban/CT warfare (for obvious reasons) so it makes sense to arm infantry troops with a "special forces" weapon. Other countries that buy the MTAR will probably only use it for special forces, like you said.
it would be really cool if you could give a quick opinion of the guns in these videos also, just to give us an idea on your preferences and how they handle and feel.
@famous9783 I remember a case of a man in Quebec shooting two police, killing one, when they entered his home with a no knock warrant and being acquitted.
@lewis4642011 The weight and recoil of this gun are in the rear, but ive got to say its extremely comfortable. The balance is just great. super fun gun to shoot.
Would a left handed person have problems shooting this? I know the brass ejects by your cheek, but from this video it seems to fly forwards.

drunkadian 2 months ago
@drunkadian Yep they are called lar-15 mags, they are ment for a ar-15 pistol that uses the same mag well as the ar-15 rifle.
