Note : The ways theyre saying to check are likely outdated. As its a botnet worm it would be easy to update the virus. Wether thats to get it away from anti-viruses or to allow specific windows updates so you yourself don't notice. you know why linux is better than mac or windows? because viruses don't work, in fact there are literally 0 viruses known to the linux community... I acutally have a dual.... or triple boot? i use all 3 - and mac's have more viruses... ironically. I have so many antivirus softwares on both, but mac apperantly had the most. I blame steve jobs trying to screw with us... and the fact that 92% of all laptops in colleges are all macs.

He hadc AVG, which is a malware remover and a anti-virus software. Problem was, there was a FAKE vireus saying it disables .exe files. Of course, AVG was a .exe file and the virus disabled it. I found out there was two files that wanted to startup and the only way to throw the intruders away was to remove them with command prompt.

There is another way to find out if you have it or not, than just the websites. You need to make a desktop shortcut for your calculator.exe and name it as "wireshark.exe". If the calculator shuts down by itself your computer is infected by conficker, if it stays on like it should be everything is okay.

I work as an IT Technician for a secondary school here in the UK. Conficker has infected most desktop computers and also staff laptops as well as the servers. This is despite the school having strict policies concerning web access for pupils and the use the memory sticks.

It has taken several weeks to get rid of conficker from our computer system so I hope the people responsible for this attack are caught and go to prison.
