JF17 is a very capable fighter. Pakistan Air Force has become first airforce to experience this advanced stealth fighter while China has not inducted this aircraft in their air force yet.

Chinese are very smart people.. They know how to sell their crap to the great pakistan while they themselves rely heavily in Russian manufactured fighters like Su-30 MK and Su-27(Shenyang 11) and Mig 19's (chengdu J7) as their prime frontline fighters.

JF-17 is a "MADE IN CHINA' product. chinese products are famous for its quality.lol.it is a copy cat of Russian made RD -93, which china bought from Soviet Union. This cheap Chinese made JF17 does not have latest modified features. Chinese communist regime hates Islamic Pakistan and considering them as slaves but pretending as friends. Because except fool pakis nobody will buy 'MADE IN CHINA' arms. and keeping pakistan as a constant headache for India(China's economic rival)

@jkabc25 Bro, small correction.. RD-93 is a russian made jet engine and not an air craft.

Chinese have not inducted the JF-17 in their fleet because it has not received Initial clearance.

China would be making further enhancements to air frame and avionics to its own version (FC-1) of JF17. The fighter has been developed solely for export, thats why you see the further reduction in cost is proposed once RD-93 engines would be assembled in china after initial import of 1000 engines from russia.

Chinese have been looking for stealth and airframe technology from both Russians and Americans.

On 1 hand, where russian air frames are famous for survivability and agility, US planes are famous for avionics and fly by wire controls. China read PAK's F-16's and created a replica JF-17 with more or less same features fitted with russian RD-93 engines.

@jkabc25 Pakistan was perhaps very keen to import and setup production facility because chinese have given license to pakistan to sell the aircraft.

All the exaggerated things you hear about JF-17 is because they want to export this crap to others.

Its a 3rd gen airframe with 3rd gen engine with exception to few 4th gen components like extra missile pylons, fly-by-wire and multi display HUD. The air frame,avionics and fly-by-wire is based on F-16 block B which pakistan already operates.

@jkabc25 To make it straight, JF-17 is not better than F-16 block B which is one of the oldest fighter in 3/3.5 gen. JF-17 would not serve any better than current F-16 block B which PAF already has. (With exception to medium range air2air heatseeking/active radar homing missiles.

US refused to give additional F-16's to Pak,so they came up with JF-17

Currently PAF operates only 1 type of fighter (F16) which has "look down and shoot" capability. JF-17 is just addition to this specific lot .. :D

@jkabc25 Good news is, JF-17 is no match for SU-30 MKI, Mig 29 SMT, Mirage 2000's and Tejas.

Performance of Tejas and JF-17 cannot be compared as, Tejas has a leading edge with Mid air refuling/ AESA radar(coming up)/ laser designator pod/lightning pod/ stealth and agile air frame alongwith french/israel electronic warfare equipment.

Only reason Tejas was defamed is because Kaveri engine lags in thrust-weight ratio however Tejas is a killer machine with current fitted engines (GE f404). Cheers

Bachhay, First open wikipedia and compare the stats of Tejas mk2 and JF 17. Just compare Radar, stealth, radar signature, airframe design, electronic warfare suite, weapon compatibility, Engine thrust (GE 414 engines in tejas mk2)

India's Mig29SMT is far far more superior than Mig29.

Even FC-20 will not stand comparable to India's mig 29. Leave alone SU-30MKI and MMRCA (Typhoon/Rafale)

And are you forgetting PAK-FA/FGFA ?

By the time you would be inducting FC-20, India would already have MMRCA and would be inducting FGFA.
