@SuperGvarr he's throwing into palm rounds. It is a fairly soft wood, it's also a lot of fun for sport throwing. We throw at all manner of targets

@biggytop it's designed to flex not break. I've thrown my shovels hundreds of times over the years. The handles eventually wear out (and are very cheaply replaced) but I've been using the same shovel heads for 6 years without issue.

I have this shovel and its great! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It has some weight to it, sometimes it goes rite through the park bench I throw it at. Its just a little tricky to sharpen but I diamond rod will do the trick.

I've been using mine to split wood all day today. It came fairly sharp, and didn't take long to get very sharp. As the head is curved it can split effectively despite being very thin (not as good as a hatchet but still good). Also it has a very deep bite when chopping. An excellent all round survival tool and well worth the money in my opinion.

The Spetsnaz seem to think its an effective weapon. Apparently it was the melee weapon of choice in Stalingrad.

The density is roughly similar, but the head has things like, oh I dunno, a skull for which the watermelon rind is an extremely poor substitute. The correct answer is probably Rule of Cool, but it just... isn't really that cool since it didn't really smash the watermelon in any particularly spectacular manner.

Bought this shovel. its great, not only does it dig flawlessly and the blade isnt bent on rocks but it holds an edge pretty nice, the sheath can be holstered or unholstered with one hand im amazed with this shovel.

Why they Call it "Special forces"? I served russian army and these shovels are standart entrenching tool used pretty extensively in all units. The problem is they are old and not as good as this. Steel here must be really high quality.

@camikins772 Actually, it just looks that way. The rear of the shovel head is bent downwards so that it doesn't poke into your hand or cut into your shoe. Look at the head carefully in the different shots.
