  • she totally added licor amoroso- Love liquor/potion

  • the mom is definitely insufferable... 'you might have stumbled on to something, despite of yourself'... sigh

  • I want her to speak some Dutch!!

  • Its boring that Matthew does not have more opportunities to get more role i another movie.

  • Is that the girl from Harry potter??..the sister of the redhead boy,idk what's their name XD

  • I think that iris was named for iris the goddess of the rainbow. Since she is an artist. Also she is very pretty i dont understand why she is suppose to be ugly and that picture hardly looks like her. no iris thats not what you look like

  • A man who does look and notice inner beauty is the man that I want. I love Caspar in the book, but I'm crazy about Caspar in this movie. SUCH A MAN!!!

  • The sad thing is...women were equal to animals in those days. They were valued only for sex and having children or cleaning. They weren't allowed to go to school or get an education or make something of themselves. They depended on getting a 'man'. If they didn't they had to be a servant, a mistress, prostitute...because it was unheard of for a woman to have a job and be independant. Even rich parents left money and property to sons. Women have it so much better now Thank God n woman's lib.

  • in the book Clara is only 8 and is very quiet , and believes she is some demon child or something

  • I think her dingusy sister has the sweetest face. If i were to approach any of the three on the street, guaranteed it would be the brunette sister. Her face is merry as hell.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Iris is really pretty?

  • @futrellyourself she's not ugly.

  • They changed the story too much :(

  • @SiccaD216 read the original cinderall and you'll realize even that was completely altered XP

  • @doggygenesis

I have read it, but this movie wasn't based off of Cinderella, it was based off of Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire. Maguire’s whole point of the book was that there was NO MAGIC And they could have very easily done Maguire’s exact story, But they

  • @SiccaD216 didn't which ruined it for me. I love the scenery, it matched my imagination almost perfectly, the casting was decent (Ruth was right on in my mind), but nonetheless it could have been a cute PG version of the book that they say it is based off, but they took too many liberties with the plot, thus completely changing the story XP

  • @secondchild0011 you are exactly right that is why he painted her like that have you read the book By Gregory Maguire if you haven't you should its a very good book

  • TULIP MANIA!!! (The Black Tulip anyone? By Dumas?)

  • i think the reason he painted her like that, not because he thought she was ugly, but because that is what she saw herself as. He painted what she thought she saw... She is, obviously, beautiful

  • @secondchild0011 i agree with you. People with low self esteem actually do appear ugly. It's surprising what confidence, or lack of, can do to your features. Ever see a bad photo of yourself? No. You're not that ugly. But that's what the lens saw at that moment.

  • how come that girl bcome so fragile unlike the one whose in original character.

  • That Painting looks nothing like Iris!!!

  • People are forgetting that Iris doesn't look just like this in the book. She is supposed to be very plain and this movie shows her as rather pretty.

  • clara was soo mean 2 ruth!

  • Why on earth would a mother belittle and insult her own daughter like that?!!! I mean Iris is actually pretty! Her mother has mental problems =.=

  • Comment removed

  • It could also be a reflection of how the world sees her - beautiful and fair - and how she sees herself as a result of her mother's insults - ugly and undesirable.

  • If you look at the portrait, the side in the light is fairly accurate to how she looks. The side in shadow might be a reflection of what is hidden inside humans, not necessarily Iris. She just provided an object on which to reflect this difference. I think that was the artist's point.

  • 3:23 NOT TRUE!!! Alright, just wanted to get that out.

  • I've always found the actess playing Iris pretty. I love the way she looks.

  • "go away... i said go away!" "you don't even know who it is yet" "who is it?" "iris" "go away, iris!" lol ..... man, that old man was a freakin pedo! i can tell why clara was scared

  • ♥♥

  • Iris does not look like that! like in the painting so sad her mother belittle's her

  • wait...is their mother a witch?? but she wasn't even a witch in the classic cinderella story...just mean and nasty

  • I don't get this, in even her side of the sotry everyone is calling her unappealing in their own way, even casper, but Iris is pretty not ugly, this is annoying, even the drawing of her they drew her really ugly, like wtf?

  • Iris is supposed to be plain...not quite ugly, just not extraordinary. I personally find her to be very charming. She's definitely not the traditional beauty like Clara or a modern beauty like any actress or model today, but she has something about her that makes her pretty. Despite the distinction in the book that she is not beautiful, I like this actress and her portrayal of Iris

  • I imagined Iris much plainer, Caspar less influential, Ruth less talkative, the mother much less prettier or nicer to Iris, and Clara more beautiful. But all in all, I still worship this book and adore this movie...even though I just got to part 2. Even though this is my first time seeing it...

    Love it!

  • Casper is a different person. He lost his flare :/

  • sorry to say but im still confused about what this whole movie is about, i know its confessions of an ugly stepsister but im still having problems understanding what the movie is about can some one help me? is it like cinderella?

  • @kitsunewolf16 Um...read the description. It states it clearly.

  • @Rogue969 LOl i will be sure to tell my sister, sorry this is my account i love the movie XD

  • @kitsunewolf16

It's Cinderella from another point of view, namely, her step-sister.

  • but iris is WAY too pretty!

if they really wanted her to play iris (because she does play her well :) they should have uglied her up.

  • GOVERNOR SWANN!!!!!

  • The mother is overly ambitious. Having enough isn't good enough for her. I've heard of this movie/story but never seen/read it. Thank you Hazell for sharing with us! :)

  • Why Does Rizo always Play someone evil but Fab???? o my gosh i cant believe i used the word fab

  • eye saud gou awaaaye

  • Iris is pretty but her voice is as annoying as all get-out.

  • Poor Ruth, living in a time before make up :'( A dash of bronzer, blush, eyebrow wax, mascara, and a pinch of earthy tone eye-shadow could have done wonders on you.

  • is clara cinderella, she sooo vain and a bitch

  • how is this the Cinderella story at all?

  • @Cinderella7865 it's re-telling of the story. perspective of the stepsister

  • she´s so cute and sweet *.*

  • I love this! One of the best stories like this that I read was 'the wide sargasso sea'. It's the story before Jane Eyre! It shows a whole different perspective about the wife and a real page turner! Amazing! P.S Thanks for uploading this!

  • Ok sooo many people are commenting that they are not ugly I think that was the point to point is that the story is told from a different perspective so you see a different side and maybe the origional was not true...

  • i dont get da movie

  • Governor Swan, we love yooouuu!

  • @SeyrusPD thats who that is? ive been trying to figure it out lol

  • @Endrawnia Yeah, the moment I saw his face I was screaming "OH MY GOSH, it's whats his face from the POTC series!!" My father who was sitting next to me, just had a look of -.-

  • Sorry to be picky, but Caspar was supposed to be the one encouraging them to see the painting. A lot of things are opposite in this adaptian?

  • @wizardwarrior713 Indeed. So many things are left out or changed around.

  • I LOVE CASPER

  • Matthew Goode is so delicious!

  • Well, it stands to be repeated:

How can you call these girls, including their mother, ugly? If they are considered ugly, then perhaps I'm grotesque, and should consider adapting Muslim attire, in order to prevent traumatizing children when I venture outdoors.

  • Ruth can't talk yet! Henrika can't be dead, Margarethe's murder must come about! And Clara isn't that cruel. AND Schoonmaker isn't that obviously kind!! And Clara is not as pretty as the book describes.

  • Comment removed

  • Iris really isn't that ugly at all. She's rather beautiful. I think she and the painter's apprentice should get together.

  • @Twilightfey they do. well, in the book at least :')

  • @xEllieWomble There's a book?

  • Thank you for putting this movie up. I have been looking for it since it aired on tv. Thank you Thank you Thank you.

  • 2:49 BITCH SHUT UP

  • "Cinderella" is a jerk in this. I think Iris is a lot more beautiful than she is.

  • she just a plain but she was never ugly

  • I don't get it.Iris is gorgeous.and what's it face Clara isn't that pretty

  • wow.. it's mathew goode..

    @sototallyshannon: i agree..

  • @scnat

    wait what????

  • @sixchickflicks : huh? did i say something, i don't remember.. just that one about mathew goode..

  • @scnat

well cuz i have a cousin that is that same name...so i was just wondering

  • @sixchickflicks : oh..

  • I don't understand this at all. That artist must be on crack. Iris is so beautiful. When the movie started, I thought she was Cinderella.

  • In the book, I thought it was Clara's father who wanted to hide her away, Clara just obeyed. That's why she asked Iris and Ruth to carry her out on the wagon. That's quite the opposite in this film.

  • Ginny...!!! that;s what Iris looks like, Bonny Wright with blond hair

  • clara looks depressed

  • cinderella looks like taylor swift

  • Yeah, this makes no sense. Iris is gorgeous. Prettier than clara i think. It's messed up that they think she's ugly, like they've got brain damage.

  • Iris is definitely not a traditional Hollywood beauty, so I can see why they cast her in this. I've seen her on an episode of Buffy before and she played a "weird" character there. Everyone keeps saying how pretty she is, but she's just different, not really pretty or ugly, just different. I doubt she'll ever make it to mainstream film industry, though.

  • Clara is so pretty.

  • I will take that back that old hag or wateva made her look horribleeeee!!!!! that is so mean!

  • Wait is Iris the one who is being potrayed as ugly? Because i think she is really pretty! I mean........ isn't that the reason why the old guy is painting her?!!

  • @HANA3364 You really have to read the book to understand the movie. This story is about the injustice of fairytale "villains". It's just like WICKED: when Elphie was betrayed by her best friend Glinda and when she disagreed with the Wizard of Oz, she was condemned and forever branded as the wicked witch of the west, when in truth she had done nothing wrong.

  • @MJMcGreg926 oh

  • OMG!! I just realized the mother was in Grease 2! I loved her there. X-D

  • @MaximilianMontesa That's actually Rizzo, from the original Grease.

  • @nokitchennobanjo Oh yeah ;-) Thanks

  • @nokitchennobanjo She is also one of the aunts in Practical Magic with Sandra Bullock. And the painter is the governor from Pirates of the Caribbean.

  • she's not ugly in the way that she's portrayed on screen the "ugly" as compared to beautiful is seen in the artist's painting only.

  • @bluecello77 i agree she is beautiful in her own way thats whats wrong with the world we have one defenition about beauty when there is actually many

  • Sorry, but that picture is so laughably ugly LOL.

  • iris is not ugly, there is just something about her voice

  • i think clara is an angoraphobic XD

  • Cinderella is a total botch, if the stepsisters make her do housework, i dont blame them one bit!

  • thanku for this videos its amazing how miss channig is most recognised in grease, shes amazing woman i dont suppose u know where i could watch other films with her in

  • Iris is pretty! how dare that old goat make her ugly! hes supposed to make her look nice not quasimoto

  • that picture scared the shit out of me

  • does cinderella ever come into this story?

  • @butterfliezkill yes she does, patience!!!! :P

  • @IamDanielLongo

Dat Made me laff Da "Patience!" Thing...lolz X'D

  • so im confused r those three ladies the ones that were mean to cinderella??

  • I couldn't think of anybody better to play Margarethe. The perfect blend of evil and practical, really.

  • I can't believe he painted Iris like that. That's ridiculous. He could have made her at least look a little pretty. I personally think Iris is beautiful.

  • @xpieceof4everx she didnt look ugly she jst looked realy tired!

  • It's no wonder Clara is unhappy and acts like she does.. She's in isolation from everything. It's not so much that she's a bad person, because anyone in her circumstance would be unhappy.

  • And it's Casper, not Jasper

  • Ok, the mother is not suppose to be that evil

  • that painting is a gross exaggeration and Iris is not ugly to begin with

  • I don't like the mother at all! I think Iris is pretty, even though she speaks funny and looks a little like a hobbit in that cloak ;) Love this film!

  • her mom is so shady

  • the painting didnt even look like her

  • Oh man, Rizzo's still got it! Putting love potion into the wine, sneaky sneaky! She's looking for a bit of satisfaction, methinks lol.

  • No, no no no no. The Master is too grandfatherly. -_-

  • they did a good job with ruth, i imagined the mom more skinny, iris is too pretty, the girl who plays clara isn't pretty enough.

  • I know right!

  • @gothiccheerleader AND YOU DON'T HAVE SENSE OF BEAUTY .

  • Iris is definitely not ugly...and she's an absolute sweetheart...unlike Clara...

  • Iris is so sweet!

  • the mom i forget her name something chaning...well she was the madam in moll flanders...i like here in period movies

  • she was also that girl from grease. i totally forgot her character's name.

  • Rizzo. You just reminded me, thank you! I knew she looked familiar.

  • @cutiefbaby - Stockard Channing. :) I liked her in Practical Magic too.

  • @Saraniabelle that was a perfect role for her!

  • i hate iris dress

  • LOL i love when he said it My painting and Ill show it when i want to. its great. exactly how i am, i wont show any one my work till it is done. except my husband

  • Jasper and Ruth were cast EXCELLENTLY!. I'm not sure about Iris, tho. She's too pretty for that role

  • @G4Vegan Just lettin ya know, his name's Casper.

  • did she just put an aphrodisiac in the wine?

  • Clara is a total brat so far (only on part 2)

  • I like the girl who plays Ruth thought she shouldn't be talking....

  • she says only little things

  • Still...it doesn't kill how charming she make her character. Now I have to go back and revisit the character. :)

  • i don't get it why did he draw her ugly? she isn't ugly at all.

  • The mother has way too much makeup on.

  • I would never trust the step-mother!! she's so evil!!

  • I don't get it. She's not at all ugly.

  • I agree.

  • He was painting her "inner beauty".

  • @thinkgood Yeah, really, but she probably didn't have good confidence to begin with, and that artist drew her looking ass-ugly =\ Probably shattered what she had..

  • @thinkgood the movie is very different from the book

i recomend the book more than the movie

  • @thinkgood i know. and i love to listen to her voice

  • CARY ELWES!!!!!! XD

  • Where, exactly?

  • well, not sure is it's him, but it looks like it. I think he's playing clara's dad....

  • first time i ever saw rhis version it rocks! cinderella is b**** in this version its awesome! = D thanks for uploading! = D

  • I would not want to enter that room with creepy old men hitting on me.

  • Iris is so cute though! I don't think she is ugly, back then she would have been considered at least pretty

  • I think Iris is pretty.

  • the beginning is messed up because henrika was in the imp ridden house part. it is okay from the book though.

  • Aww, they changed my favorite part! The part where Iris sees the painting! TT-TT I love that part in the book, Caspar's awesome in it...but, eh, he's pretty cool in the movie though....but, he doesn't explain WHY exactly the painting looks so ugly.

  • Yay, Jonathan Pryce! Um....Iris is really pretty. When did that happen?

  • it`s hard to remain calm in a room full of 50 year old creepers.

  • i LUV this version XD

  • she gave him 17th century Viagra

  • I think it's really cute how Caspar looks at Iris.

  • i think iris i beautiful :)

  • Iris is cute.

  • omg it IS holland in the 17 century!

  • with claras ugly attitude, I honestly cant find a single beautiful feature about her, not even her face.

  • i agree with you

  • Ok...I really don't think the actors do the characters justice, and I did not even think Clara is that pretty in here....

The one who plays Iris was in that film with Sandra bullock!

  • what very single perosn has to speak english...i didnt even watch it properly because i already read it...

  • Iris looks a lot like Drew Barrymore/Dakota Fanning

  • aww. she's pretty. the artist is mean
