  • lol im a nerd, and this is toooooo nerdy lol love it though! lol nice flash baby,,, ohhh yahhhh! ;)

  • @moarfailplz ROFLMAO! Nice! Yeah, I think I saw shreder199 on the side of a road once digging at ditch as I was driving by in my Benz!

  • Nice capture. That insignificant flash is probably about the size of Asia. (You can fit 3 Earths in the Great Red Spot near the top.) That is a whole lot of energy being released.

Also, I see a lot of comments on videos like this saying it's not an impact since Jupiter's all gas. That's not true. It most likely has a rocky core and there's definitely liquid down there for sure. The deep atmosphere's much denser than anything we'd call gaseous here on Earth. Stuff takes weeks to fall through.

  • @ericwdhs - GRS has been steadily shrinking over the years. It's about 2 Earths across now.

Anyways, a very interesting catch of an impact flash. I've never been that lucky with my Jupiter captures.

  • Way to go Masayuki! What did you capture this with, Webcam or where you using a low light camera?

  • NERDS NERDS NERDS

  • Very good capture !!

  • Nice !!

  • @moarfailplz DXXX Thumbed you down by accident. Sorry!

  • god hit the wrong planet. het god, earth is much smaller...we are here. hit us already.

  • @w1lp34 Don't worry, one will hit us eventually. When it does, you will die. :3

  • @SouthwesternEagle you will die too, you know. nothing wrong with that.

  • Whoa!

  • That little flash could have killed everyone if it had hit earth. That's the big deal. Every time a new video of this occurring just brings us closer to the one that will happen. :D

  • So what is so significant about this?

  • @MulkTheIncredible If that thing happens to earth. Bye bye people.

  • That5: You have obviously not seen the comet impacts back from a few years ago. I think youre missing the point. Even though Jupiter is mostly gasses it has a density and gravity. When something is travelling at 20,000 miles per second it doesn't have to hit anything "Solid" to make an impact, just something more dense than a vacum.

  • @petehjr1 vacuum. Your welcome.

  • Technically Jupiter is made up entirly of gas so the possibility of it being anything impacting the surface is ruled out but the possibility of some sort of meteorite with a substance unidentifiable to man reacted with the gases of Jupiter thus creating the optical flash.

  • Look below the red line

  • It was above that little red line thing toasted the left. I was just a little flash but in normality it was like a nuke.

  • I personally think it is fake because isn't jupider surrounded by clouds so a collision to the planet most likely wouldn't be able to he seen

  • Fake n Gay!

  • I don't see anything

  • Seriously... What the heck is an optical flash....

  • SAILOR JUPITER!

  • Wow that just rocked my socks. I can't even think straight now

  • Looks like somebody Nuked Jupiter

  • seems like in 2013 we will have two sun !!!

jupiter is a new sun .. as it seems .. look for in on youtube !!

    2012theindigorevolution

  • Twinkle twinkle huge-ass Jupiter...

  • Wink...

  • @Andrewterrorist lol haha Jupiter farted haha lmao!!!

  • jupiter farted.

  • @Andrewterrorist no actually, chuck norris did it

  • Fascinating.

  • It's over 9000!!....... Miles away :D

  • I could beat up jupiter

  • ALIUNZZ :(

  • At that same time, something really really strange happened O.O

  • It's probly flames

  • FALCON PUNCH

  • it's so amazing just to see jupiter like this.

  • imagine what happens if that meteor hit the earh :D

  • @ixonixas Why happy face? :(

  • re spamming...I hit the 'send' button a few times, yesterday, expecting instantaneous acceptance of my post. Silly moo, me. Sorry chaps/chapesses.

  • Cool! That must be an expensive set-up, though... I'm betting the guy/gal payed at least $5k (american wise) to get that clear of a shot..

  • @neroxero Wow, that's a pain. I think I blocked and removed all the damage.

  • I heard of the impact, over at the BAUT Forum. Came to visit here and have a look-see!!! Wow! Mind-blowing stuff.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • @flynnbrown2001 You're welcome!

  • I heard of the impact at BAUT forum. Came to visit here...wow!!!

    Thanks a bunch for sharing.

  • TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN

  • Earth people, I was born on Jupiter.

  • ALIENS OH FUCK

  • did he died ?

  • guys you got it all wrong see this is what would happen if we got a chance to throw justin bieber into jupiter he would explode into a million of pieces. thats all really.

  • @LikeTotallyPwned He would freeze because of the lack of heat and explode because of the lack of an atmosphere (If you throw him in space... its closer and less costly xP)

  • @rcmintit109

    I agree

  • It's aliens...enough said

  • Damn, nice work.

  • treffik :O/

  • seems insignificant but i have to be reminded that that flash would have probably matched the energy of several atomic bombs

  • @syaoranpies Several Atomic bombs??!?!? ARE YOU SERIous?? That Lil Flash= 1,000 Atomic bombs Dropped On Hiroshima?!?!

  • You guys are nerds

  • @shreder199 And proud of it!

  • @shreder199 ur a nerd !!

  • @shreder199 i think nerds are sexy :)

  • @shreder199 Damn stright. it's great being a nerd. we get paid the big bucks....

  • @shreder199 Whats wrong with that?

  • since Jupiter has no solid 'core' shouldn't there be no explosion.. just a burning up of the asteroid?

  • @numbscholar correct. There was no impact on a solid surface (because Jupiter is a gas giant) but asteroids move ridiculously fast. When an asteroid that big moves that fast into a gas giant, its releases a huge amount of energy. It's similar to the idea (and reality) of jumping into water from a few meter feels like jumping into concrete.

  • That explosion must have been bigger than earth if you can see it on a planet that big and how far away that is

  • most likely an alien spacecraft entering jupiter's secret city.

  • That was huge if u could actually see it that was like the comparison of 20 nuclear bombs going of at the same place

  • @matt8ny I think it would have been more in the area of 1,500 going off.

  • @matt8ny I think 20 bombs is a fair estimate. I bet the flash was a on the scale of 1,000 miles wide.

  • @mvans130 nuclear weapons are not all a standard size, nuclear weapon yield can vary hugely - from the davy crockett at 0.01 KT to the Tsar at 50 megatons - so we can all stop estimating the number of bombs

  • @Cssfiend I agree...that is why, when I saw Ithoughthewasaninja correcting matt8ny on the number of nukes the flash would equate, I replied to matt8ny saying his estimate was fair. I also tried to direct the convo in a direction that is easily verifiable or measurable, the size of the flash, as opposed to the ambiguous comparisons of nuke sizes. ya see?

  • @matt8ny Srsly??!

  • If that hit us we would be dead : S

  • jinkys

  • wanna SEE A NEW VIDEO?

    click my screen name

  • Probably a meteor

  • @ZzMaNiaCzZ

    i hecka believe in aliens!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Coooooooooooooooooool wer all going to die. :)

  • WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE

So hide your kids, hide your wives and hide your husbands cus we all gotta get the FUCK outta HEEEaarrRRRRRRR :O

  • So wat does this mean that tha world is near to explode it ain't even 2012 yet :)

  • TACTICAL NUKE! INCOMING!

  • that little sperma leck :D lol

  • So it was an explosion?

  • @gogetitbaby1 Yeah. Some alien arse freak farted close to a lit flame. Boom.

  • @personage2007 thanks for the info..

  • Alien Got A 25 KillStrike...Nuke Bomb....

  • is that real?

  • @personage2007 thanks for the info

  • that was a ray?

  • WHAT DOES THIS MEAN????

  • why does it look like its filmed under water for????? maybe its just me

  • @MegaEKUL its the atmosphere of the earth creating the effect in the telescope

  • steady hands

  • @darkMiLK9292 Actually it doesn't technically have a surface. A surface implies that the face is solid, and jupiter is gaseous right until the core, which is molten. so before you put people down, make sure you know what you are talking about.

  • @yluser cheif doesnt need help! lol

  • @JSErwine I was just there!

  • @99akol992

They knocked over some of the bikers motorcycles at the biker bar by the west gate. From what I'm hearing, things could get pretty ugly for the black community around here, especialy after one of the higher ranking police officers made an attempt to have charges reduced on the black guy that was holding down the white guy they were stabbing and beating.

  • @2010Elhost i dont know that that means

  • @ToraAlbatou no probably more like europe? because jupiter is only like 1000 times the size of earth

  • I don't get it, what happened. And no I'm not an idiot. Haha

  • @jollyjenna1234 explosion on jupiter, caused by unknown object, but the interesting thing, is it was seen and it's size, is not something we could understand. lol

some hypothesis lead to the existence of Megatron, hiding on jupiter.

  • Someone just farted on Jupiter....

  • cool

  • KAMEEEHAAMAAAHAAA!!!! HEY VEGETA WHAT IS HIS POWER LEVEL?

  • @floydw6 ITS OVER 9000!!!

    lol

  • @javyeseljefe THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE

  • happens all the time. who gives a shit!

  • I'm not all that smart or anything with this. But, what caused that flash? I'm interested.

  • @DarkClanProductions It was most likely a relatively small asteroid -- I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 10 meters or so, but I need to consult an expert to find out for sure -- burning up upon impact into Jupiter. This is the second time such a flash has been observed this year. Observations of these flashes are getting more common because more and more amateur astronomers have video cameras attached to their telescopes.

  • @DarkClanProductions Probably a insane lightning since Jupiter has nothing but violent stroms, hurricanes, and so fore.

  • You know those JapaneseTourist with their flash cameras....

  • Come we all now the aliens are having a massive rave

  • ^_^

  • o_O

  • oO !

  • its a spirit bomb from goku!

  • it has been confirmed that the event filmed here is the direct result of george w bush, and s u v's. and now we must limit our prosperity to save the day. makes alot of sense.

  • My guess is it was a very large but not insanely huge meteorite.

    Then again I'm no scientist

  • Anybody with any sensible answers to what this might have been?

  • L0l. Imagine how unbelievably huge that explosion was at the impact point.

  • It was me pointing a laser at it haha. I tricked y'all

  • @2fastg35 lol!!!

  • È o Goku fazendo uma Genki-dama kkkkkkk

  • the size of that tempest you can spot in the north is aprox 3 times the Earth's size, by that you can tell the impact was in a small area but probably equal to our total planet area. That giant of gas has absorbed many impacts over the existence of our solar system, like a shield to us, we can say.

  • DRAGON BALL

  • I had to watch it 2 times just to see the damned thing.

  • Wtf....in a good way....

  • japan, not a suprise

  • Best 5 seconds of my life nuff said.

  • I gotta say, that was a lucky clip. And makes me glad that we have a giant meteor sponge in system, or we would get wacked a lot more frequently.

  • Imagine something like that hitting earth... -_-

  • @DeadSkyes

AS LONG AS IT DOESNT HIT MY TRAILER PARK, A HE HE HE HEEEEH!

  • Goku was there.

  • @howler92

    lol yah it probably was

  • that flash was the size of 45 gajillion earths....NO LIE, this video was the 2nd best 5 seconds of my life

  • @fras1788 LOL it is only 2000 k wide, he said in the comment replys

  • this explosion would have ended all of life on earth

  • that was a big ass asteroid dislike only because it scares me

  • @numbscholar You should "like" because we have more and more astronomers who are capable of observing the kinds of asteroids that could one day pose a danger to us. Once we discover them, we can do something about them before a disaster happens.

  • @planetsocblog since Jupiter has no solid 'core' shouldn't there be no explosion.. just a burning up of the asteroid?

  • @numbscholar Asteroids explode upon impact on Jupiter for the same reason that they do upon entry into Earth's atmosphere -- it's a combination of pressure and heating effects. There is a terrific description of how it all works at is.gd / eC1Ps (can't put direct links in comments, hopefully you can figure out how to make that work).

BTW Jupiter very likely does have a solid core the mass of several Earths -- but it's WAAAAAAAY down there. No incoming asteroid would ever make it to the core.

  • It's chuck norris.

  • Help to save the planet and reduce greenhouse gas by not eating animals. Learn how to eat healthy animal-free recipes that are delicious and easy to make here: easyveganmeals

  • @veganandrea Smoke my pole.

  • @veganandrea I raise my own animals (in poor conditions I might add) and when its time for them to meat there maker (haha meat) I leave the head on so I can look at their pretty little face while I eat them. Wife thinks its a huge turn on too.

  • @SittingAtTheHouse sure you do....sure you do

  • @veganandrea You can help save the planet by joining my dumbass religion. For every $1 you send me I will recycle something. For every $10 I'll stop getting stuff which needs to be recycled and for every $1,000 received I'll stop wasting energy by trawling the internet looking for random places to push my views on people

  • @duboisiboy i lold.

  • is that lil light on the upper left of Jupiter a moon from Jupiter? if so, this explosion if was on a Jupiter moon, wouldnt destroy it?? lucky moon huh?

  • It winked at me:0

  • wow that would wipe out life here on eath!! if not right away.. then with its after effects

  • Hmmm

  • it's obviously Optimus Prime

  • @HLGcaptain96 No, not on Jupiter. Megatron and StarScream are hiding there for a moment, before they attack the Autobots.

  • was that real or on your tv

  • Thankyou Jupiter for your gravity, you keep us safe from the Van Allen;s asteroid belt

  • whaoh

  • Totally awesome!

  • team rockets blasting off againnnn

  • Its team Rocket loosing another pokémon battle to ash.

  • My son will be named Jupiter.

  • hadouken!

  • One of Jupiter's moons just was like you know what? screw this. and got out of orbit and fell into Jupiter

  • Wow. I wonder what hit it.

  • Wow Jupiter farted.

  • That was thrilling.
