  • Thank you for these videos! The perfect companion to a few late nights studying!

  • always thought 1:29 to about 1:35 sounded "modern" with him holding the note "plain" while the continuo modulated the chord remininscent of a chromatic descension.

  • @turquoise770 I agree, much more modern sounding than other parts

  • Wow the man who song this was great.

  • Screw Justin Bieber. I'm listening to Handel!

  • The singer is Wilfred Brown 1922-1971 English Tenor

  • Can anyone tell me what the Form of this piece is I know it can't be ABA form. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me. thank you!

  • @mariesalas1 I think it is technically a ritornello. I'm no expert, though.

  • This is my favorite section of Handel's messiah, and the Philharmonic is a wonderful orchestra that worked with us on the tracks to our classical music CDs for children. Wonderful!

  • What a masterpiece from the Baroque period.

  • 46 voice notes on 1 music line!!!!

  • Isaiah 40:4 (KJV) Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

  • I think its a little slow.

  • I can't belive other Messiahs feature a Tenor on 'Thou Shalt Break Them." I am looking for thou shalt break them on this channel just to hear the proper sound.

  • This is old isn't it? Like from the early 70's? I am tone def or something but from what I can remember this is the recording I have been looking for or the London Phil is simply the best for Haendel

  • I can understand why King George I forgave Handel for his long absences from the Electoral Court of Hanover...The man was beyond genius...

  • The mystery tenor Wilfred Brown died tragically young. He made a notable recording of folksongs with Julian Bream. A lifelong member of the religious society of friends (Quakers.) What lovely fresh toned singing!

  • @Tenortalker you are a wonderful fount of information!

what a gorgeous bright tone he has. and complete control. beautiful.

  • uma musica fantastica. Ouvi uma vez na Nova Vista, BH, estando cantado pelo agums jovems da Igreja Assemblea De Deus.

  • avarage execution... nothing special

  • Otima musica

  • Every Valley Shall Be Exalted. And every mountain made low. Meaning with the Lord we are all on the same plain. Weather Rich, Poor, Famous or not. We come to him in Faith in His Grace in Jesus Christ!

    Thank you Jesus -

  • @Anth4444444 Its so true, thank you Jesus!!!

  • I'm seeing Handel's 'Messiah' on Dec. 12th. Looking forward to it.

  • Undoubtedly a Neville Mariner conducted orchestra .... ZZZZzzzzzz

  • @iupetre :D :D :D

  • i am trying out for this solo for my highschool choir. FC... such a beautiful piece

  • And, I've been using this to practice, the voice is much better than the copy I was given...

  • wondeful, pure English voice

  • @grackles

    you said it

  • You could have given credit to the singer.

  • If I had the name of the singer I would have given credit.

  • @Op139

According to my investigation, the conductor is Walter Susskind. Recorded 1958.

The soloists might be: April Cantello (soprano), Helen Watts (alto), W. Brown (tenor), and Roger Stalman (bass)

Couldn't find anything else on the mystery tenor...

  • @pagerbear yeah so fuck you asshole

  • I will be singing this to represent my college at a Minnesota State Solo contest this coming spring......

  • Delightful
