  • amazing...

  • great song!

  • Alright, by the way, thank you for posting this one. My older sister had it on single,

the flipside of "Pick up your sorrows" as I faintly remember. But her record vanished

somewhere in her attic and I didn't seem to find it elswhere.

If you do know a record of Joan Baez with this version on it, please tell me which one it is.

Greetings from the (former) Isle of Urk

  • I shan't (dare not) say the original isn't good, but I like Joan's better - maybe because

that's the one which rested in my memory for fourty years.

Still, listening to the Farina's I get the impression they are more concentrated on

eachother's voice (getting the harmonies right) than on the song

My opinion for a better, however, it isn't all that important

  • @hesselvanurk No, no, everybody`s opinion is important.

  • This is lovely if you haven't heard the original, which is stark, subtle, and mysterious. Joan's treatment is totally emo and unsubtle. That's what we listen to her for, and it's actually closer to the original Ladino melody and style, but whereas this is impressive, Mimi and Richard's is magic. They couldn't sing with the same virtuosity but they had a unique, mystic soul, almost like a hippie Yo La Tengo.

  • Beautiful vocal treatment. The arrangement is fussy and annoying. For that reason I prefer the original Mimi and Richard recording.

  • as you sing, tug quickly near your adams apple, and you can sound like joan or stevie nicks LOL
