@fargonbastedge Yes they are from the north carolinas, you need to replicate the weather conditions like the north carolinas (lots of sun and high humidity) I live in Canada and the weather is colder than the north carolinas, my plant has been through 2 winters without going into dormancy. So it should be fine... Miami is pretty hot...
I live in Miami. Could I grow these outdoors year round and how could they die technically if there's no winter to come around? Because its from my understanding that these plants only grow in a small part of north Carolina. So if the plant is tricked into a 70 degree winter... Wouldn't survive past that?
@kt10585 sphagnum peat moss/peat moss/sphagnum moss is pretty much the same. peat moss is in the soil form (in Bogs) of sphagnum moss.jus dont get the ones mixed with other fertilizers. u gotta do a lil research on google on sundews & pitcher plants. but for i all know, u need sphagnum peat poss, perlite, & construction sand (no salt) for sundews, you need to find the ratio of those, like 70%peat 30%sand or perlite.i dont know much bout ur pitcher plant. dont use porous pots.
i jus got my plant and trimmed it coz there were dead leaves, its like winter right now were i am but should i still freaze it? how can i propperly tell its ready 4 dormency and im keeping it in a plasitc boz with a lid half over it and then a lamp next to the box (not shining over it) am i doing things right! helppp
lol do w/e u want. I got mine 2 years ago.i learn by makin mistakes. lol but this is how i did it. a pot of flytraps planted in peat moss. water it with distilled water...cut the top off a 2 litre pop bottle and cover it. put the cap on and cut a small hole in the cap for ventilation. i put it in constant artificial sunlight..(Fluorescent bulbs only!!!!).cause i hate seeing it go into dormancy..my flytraps are still growing...and its like winter right now in canada lol

I cant find sphagnum peat moss anywhere--its all enriched with plant food. I found shagnum moss. can sundews and pitcher plants be ok with that?

fly traps dont respond to dead bugs, you gotta squeeze it to stimulate its trigger hairs.
