  • Fucking redcoats...

  • Laughing at the police rider (if I'm correct that that's them in the bear-skin hats) I mean c'mon would this be a likely scenario?

Soldier "Oh no! I'm being attacked, call the police!"

    or this...

Soldier *points weapon at assailant* "Bitch" *one shot is all it takes*

Which one, really? In any country to be fair.

  • Man the Chinese guy completely ruined the mood. Where am I? London or tianamem square?

  • sing " Goooooood S H A V E the Queeeeeeen" rülps

  • Do anyone know the name of this band?, I am planning to join the British Army Band soon:)

  • @xxsolakxx

It would be the regimental band of the Coldstream guards, but I don't see any red plumes so it might not be.

  • @alex471996 thanx buddy

  • @alex471996 This band is probably the Band of the Grenadier Guards, look at their collars. In the case of the Coldstream Guards Band, the red plumes would be clearly seen. The New Guard are, of course, Coldstream Guards.

The tune is 'General Mitchell' by Hall.

  • They march in perfect synchronisation. As has been mentioned this is traditional dress. Red was originally used because its masks the colour of blood. Gotta stay looking smart while your being shot and say thing like 'what this here, its just a scratch' :P

  • @SerasRocks No, red is used because it was cheap at the time when the new model army was created and because red was to some extent thought as the English national colour.

  • @TarEldamir Ahhh I see, you are right, my mistake. I always thought it was the other reason but after properly looking it up now you are right.

  • I feel sorry for the seargent cymbalist, it is possibly the most degrading part of a drum corps. I'm a side drummer and thats the shit! :)

  • Question,? Why is a civlian Police Officer, Following a military unit?????????

  • @bigman1916

In times of peace, the military do not have authority over civilians. That is why policemen are required to offer security, support and crowd control.

  • @bigman1916 to keep the public away from them.

  • Red coats are coming, run for your lifves!

  • Only because we are the best xD

Also that is the Grenadier Guards, because of the bear heads xD

  • @headphones222 grenadier guards because of the bear heads???

  • In guessing bassed on the "bear" heads, its an expresison used to refer to their hats in slang, the tall hats made form "bear" skin.

Also the dress looks like what grenadier guards wear and also the fact I am british.

  • @headphones222

The New Guard is in fact made up of men from the Coldstream Guards. However, the band is indeed the Band of the Grenadier Guards.

Additionally, the proper term for the headdress they wear would be, "bearskin." The hats are made of genuine bear fur, it takes one adult bear to make one hat.

  • I know, hence slang term......:P

And I was right luls, grenadier band :P

  • @headphones222

    Lucky guess? :)

You can differentiate between the five regiments by looking at the plumage on the bearskin caps.

Side of bearskin, colour - regiment

    Left, white - Grenadier

    Right, red - Coldstream

    None - Scots

    Right, blue - Irish

    Left, white-green-white - Welsh

In this video, the band may of the Grenadier, Scots or Welsh Guards. However, I am able to identify the Grenadier Guards because I am familiar with a few of its members.

  • Not a lucky guess.

  • @emptyangelthey they stop making them with bear skin a long time a go

  • @billywhizz1516

Synthetic alternatives were trialled and tested, but they did not meet regulations and standards set by the Ministry of Defence.

Nowadays, hat makers source the pelt from international auctions. They are still made from the black bear and for officers, it's made from the brown bear.

  • @emptyangel thank for pointing that out . i asked this years ago when i was in the guards i was told they stoped .

  • @emptyangel If I am not mistaken the fur is synthetic now to appease the bleeding hearts of this land.

  • @fragman08

I am aware of a newer 'designer' made synthetic bearskin has been in the works for 4 years. However, there still is no word from the MoD whether or not they will be using this as a replacement.

  • @headphones222 I am also British...my uncle served in the Welsh Guards....all the footguards regiments (Welsh, Irish, Scots, Coldstream and Grenadier) wear the red tunic and bearskins. The only way you can tell which regiment they are from is by the spacing of their buttons and the collar badge. The bearskins were captured from the russians in the crimean war.

  • ok, thank you for that insight into your history xD

  • @pcjoel999

You are wrong! The bearskins were first awarded to the Grenadier Guards at the end of the Battle of Waterloo. Since then, all regiments in the Foot Guards share the honour of wearing the bearskin cap as a mark of their elite status.

  • @emptyangel thanks for the correction.....they were worn during the crimean war but i forgot that the battle of waterloo was earlier.

  • what is that guy talking canto for.. O.o

  • The horse is off-beat.

    Useless animal....

  • Ok, I wasn't having a go.

    And I said per soldier

and yeah, good examples of 3 strong armies are the Chinese, US and British..

all armies have goods and bads..

The British army is small but has very good soldiers, proven to be the best trained in the world

The US army is larger but slightly less well trained

And the Chinese army is massive but least well trained of all three

This is why it's good for militaries to work together today.

And i'll check it out lol

  • Well done, the British army is small.

And it has still achieved more than any other army in the world.

Per soldier it is the most powerful army in the world.

  • it was a joke...i have nothing against the british army...but to use the words "the most powerful" to describe your army is a bit of an overstatment...dont you think? don't get me wrong...a great army and has achieved many things...but if i found out that tomorrow that we were going to war with any country..the only one that would make me swallow hard and be afraid of is china....holy shit do they have a huge military...wanna see something amazing..look up chinese military parade.. scary!

  • everyone run! brain eating furry black marshmellows are on the queens guards heads! hehe

  • No.

Also, guess what, you're not funny.

  • geese i was only having a joke no need to get testy about it

  • This isn't our army. This is just the Royal Guard. Our main army is far larger, not as wierdly dressed and we don't feel the need to remind our people of our military's power because we're a free country

  • @englishfrenchgerman This is the army. They fight on the front line and protect us. They also protect the palaces and Royals when not on the Front line. A show of military power has nothing to do with not being a free country.

  • I wish we would parade like Russians and Chinese. I wish we paraded our missiles, our tanks etc but we have been almost castrated of our power. One day that will change though. One day. But our trooping the colour is still a real spectical, this is just a small part.

  • Parading military hardware is for eastern countries. The West parades what is most important, the troops.

  • Quite right. My family has been the USA for 300 years and we are German and English. So Chinga tu Madre, Cabron.

  • Very smart, I wouldn't mind watching next time I'm in London!

  • LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT! RIGHT!

  • makes me laugh americans say english people dont know how to speak english and what language are you speaking and you cant get it right all you hear is ''howdy mam'' or when you see your mum its ''mom'' wth learn to speak it properly first before you start to dish it out.

  • With you on that one!

  • commit more war crimes too

  • They may look stupid, but none of you could beat them in fight ( no weapons)

  • @Lukexx they don't look stupid, they wear traditional dress, better than the guys in suits who protect the President.

  • @Lukexx How do they look stupid?

They look ten times better than any man wearing a regular suit; i would love to have the priveledge to dress in such a outstanding uniform.

  • @Lukexx dont talk shit theyre normal fucking infantry soldiers trained in armed combat and field tactics theyre not special forces trained in cqc ive live on military camps all over europe and ive seen infantry soldiers get theyre asses kicked by civilians left right and center theyre not trained to fight unarmed and being a soldier doesent make you become a good fighter you become a good soldier and soldiers use theyre brains and weapons not fists

  • @Lukexx i don't get how you said they may look stupid?

  • @Lukexx They dont look stupid! They look bloody marvellous!

  • @Lukexx they look good not stupid.

  • fucking chinese shits talking in the background... annoying...

  • Rofl Multicultralism (Chinese/Japaneese dude)

  • How's it embarrassing? We conquered half the world as the redCoats.

  • You're embarrassed seeing a ceremonial marching band?

Oh I see, you're 29, you grew up in the 'Let's Hate our Country' generation. Stupid Brits don't deserve their own History.

  • sspeak for yourself you idoit and u dont even have a very long history you diddy

  • how am i supposed to know im not english

  • Why can't the Americans teach their children how to spell?

  • Who created the language?

    Us

so i think you're mistaken, you're the ones that can't spell words such as colour.

  • WTF?!?! what are you talking about?

  • are you talking about me or someone else?

  • Yeah. They can't spell honour or valour either. And they use all these weird words like 'trash' and 'diaper' and of the course, the worst of all 'sidewalk'. Their worst crime is their stereotype of the British. Do you talk like a nineteenth century duke and drink tea all the time? I know I don't

  • wankers

  • Sounds like an advert for a Chinee takeaway in the background

  • 1. they are called kilts

    2. that was the clothing avaliable at the time

    3. the Scottish are very proud of our history

    and

    4. you are an idiot

  • man holding the camera speaking cantonese at the background....

  • What is the name of this march?

  • its the trio section of the march "general mitchell"....the first part of this march is a lot better! marty

  • louis: by R B Hall. Lived in the state of Maine in USA.

  • HAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA.

Stop. before you mock one of the most powerful armies in the world maybe you should take into consideration that these people are putting their lives at risk for a country they love, so spare me and the rest of the globe the mind numbing BULLSHIT that is being processed in your abnormally small brain you sub human mutant being.

    The Famine Is Over

  • lol they dont even talk english

  • red was first used by Cromwell's New Model Army during the English cival war.

  • Please make the distinction between the CEREMONIAL Guard, which is the summer job, and the actual Guards units in Canada, such as the Governor General's Foot Guards, which is an actual Army Unit.

Also, these hats are, properly, "bearskins" NOT Busbys. A Busby (sp?) is a smaller hat, with a red "bag" hanging on one side.

Further, the Red uniform of the British has nothing whatsoever to do with hiding blood, it was the traditional national colour!

  • wrong looking at red at a distance used to blend in so the enemy could not count the strength and numbers of the british forces

  • ...and blue, green, or yellow didn't? That's nonsense!

The way the Battles were fought during the time the red uniforms were worn IN battle, the strength of the opposition was usually known days ahead anyway... the battles were "pitched" and in some respects it was like a "sporting event" as much as a War.

Besides, if you see a red line stretching from left to right all the way across your line of sight, do you think it matters if you know there are 2,000 or 3,000?

  • MrsProdge is correct, even the British tailors who make the uniforms say so on television.

It wasn't to count how many troops you had all together, it was to count your frontage to see what fire-power you were at. Meaning how many muskets you can bring down on the enemy.

Red is a harder colour to count at a distance, compared to other colours. Besides that, red dye was the cheapest to acquire.

  • Red was used WELL before muskets, gunpowder smoke, or any thought of "blending in" to anything.

I stand by my original statement, that red is the traditional colour, and rather than "blend in" standing out on the battlefield would intimidate your enemy, so you wanted them to see your numbers.

I think the tailors may know how to MAKE a uniform, but not necessarily the history of it.

  • Congratulations on just repeating what you just said without adding anything else to your argument.

Yes, I know red was used well before muskets because as I said earlier, it was cheap to acquire red dye.

These tailors have been making uniforms for the British Army for the past hundred years. I would imagine they would know a thing or two about the history behind it and not just spew out nonsense on TV.

  • But I guess you're right, they could have been wrong and this may well have been another historical myth like the one that goes something along the lines of blood not showing on the red tunics.

  • Well, I have always wondered how the red would prevent someone from seeing their OWN blood, and if it were another soldier, writhing on the ground, or disemboweled by a cannon ball or something, is it that hard to miss?

Perhaps, as the use of red continued within the Army, the visibility and suchlike of the tunics were observed and commented on, so we could both be correct here. I just think the length of time red and scarlet were used prior to musketry has to be considered.

    Truce?

  • i love teh marching sound clank clank clank clank all at the same time

  • "WAR IS BORN, FIGHT THE WARFUCK THE NORM!"

Rage Against the Machine- Know Your Enemy

  • Look, Im 3rd generation English here in the U.S. and regardless of what you idots have to say, I have respect for anyone, in any armed service.

Im proud to be of english descent, and proud to share a certain heritage with England. To see these men do what they have dedicated so much to in service of their country, shows alot.

If you (mugmugmug11 & Dannychan333)can respect that, then how can you expect any better from those around you.

Show some respect, and honor those who protect you.

  • Good saying. :)

  • Thank you. :D

  • Well said sir, you be proud of your descent and your country forget the moron's.

  • Not really mugmugmug11, but they would definately kick your dirty ass back to Ireland or to whatever shithole you crawled out from.

  • "Fags"? You've been watching too many American high-school documentaries, you simple clown.

  • your a twat.

  • These guys have hundreds of years of history behind them. Like the rest of the British Army.

  • who...dannychan what sort of name is that. You some sort of chinky Australian lol. hey I need my laundry cleaning now so get your arse over here .

  • these 'clowns' have usually been on 3-4 tours of service and are as hard as nails. hence the reason why they are charged with guarding buckingham palace from scum like u (dannychan33s)

  • Danny boy, go fight one of these "clowns" and i wonder how long you'll last.

  • MrBlackBaron

clowns means I need to fight? how come you dont bomb the circus... lol...

  • Your a fucking financier, one of these "clowns" could shove his trombone up your arse sideways without pausing to think about it,and how much better would the world be without leeching scummy financiers like your self in it, you may think these boys are clowns, but everyone thinks financiers are cock sucking scummy bastards, get a fucking real job and stop living off the work of others bitch.

  • The music really sucks! Were is Colonel Bogey March or Badenweiler Marsch? ^^

  • To be frank but no offense, it really sucks.

  • Thank you, englandforever, for your compliment. As a former British subject born and raised in Hong Kong, the former colony of Britain, I take full advantage of the opportunity of learning as much English as I could. Even now, I enjoy English plays and music, not to mention military pageants.

  • the americans wear a similar hat in there army bands.

  • should we spin our guns in pretty circles instead?

  • nice vid! but why they wear such a big hat? :P

  • To confuse the enemy into aiming higher then they should.

  • cause ther a gaurd regiment. they took the bearhats off napoleons dead imperial guard after waterloo

  • That was the grenadier guards who took their grenades.

  • @ta400 guards first used grenades at waterloo . thats when they change there badge to the . grenade

  • rofl

  • They call them Cow Vagina's here

  • busbys are also so that if your brains get blown out you dont feel it quite so much with the fur padding along with the red jacket so you cant see your own blood makes the soldier carry on regardless.

  • Except these are "Bearskins" and NOT Busbies.

A busby is quite different. It is lower, and has a bag on one side.

  • apologies was unaware of that one - full respect to all current allied military in my book these petty arguments on this thread are stupid. However can always have a bit of a laugh at our French friends - anyone see that footage on the news a while back of one of their parades - shambles - horses going everywhere soldiers limping holding their knees etc?

  • They call them Cow Vagina's here

  • We, Chinese, enjoy the changing of guards as much as the Brits and other foreigners and aliens. Is it one of the tourist attractions in London? What's wrong with it Keighlan? Don't forget the Brits are competing with other countries for Chinese tourist dollars or in your country pound sterling.

  • man, you have good english my friend.

  • what is it with chinese people, theres always hundreds of them at the changing of the guard.are they obssessed or summat.

  • My awnser to why we don't see americans march "americans can march?"

  • dont fink so lad

i have seen both and compared to our trooping the colour you look like school kids lining up for ya lunch

  • wow you actually bothered typing "fink" that's rather confusing

  • Yes keep talking BS and do us all a favour and go back to playing hockey. Your army is lightweight son, sort it out.

  • Actually the Canadian Guards are students who do the job as a summer job they are NOT soldiers.

They are , of course officered by regular Army types one of whom was my own son.

  • However, you HAVE to admit Nazi Germany didn't invade you the way it did with the Soviets. Why? You live in an island well protected why the Royal Navy, so thank them instead for preveting operations the size of, let's say, Barbarossa. Millions of Britons would have died, had those panzers made it inland.

  • @makokun9 it been proven in the 60-70s that the german invasion of england would of lasted just a few weeks and would of been pushed back in to the sea . with no proper ports to land surplies from . no air cover over south coats the raf would had free run on german units . . all remaining forces would been pulled back 20-30 miles . till rest of the army came from up north . trapping any remaining german forces

  • @billywhizz1516 Well, I stongly doubt it. Driven back? Perhaps. In a few weeks? No, months, or at least a year.

  • fucking yanks.

    britain owns.

    end of.

  • Wow, that was as intelligent as a dog's bark...

  • so that be your mum ye?

  • Was that supposed to mean anything at all?

  • hey scumbag choigod, Oliver Cromwell should have finished what he started.

  • you should learn your history fool, they did try and invade england, but they failed because the RAF owned the Luftwaffa so operation sea lion couldn't go ahead.

  • you idiot, he tried to blow up Britain, but then he decided to bomb london, leaving military targets to rebuild and overpower him. then he lost

  • PROUD TO BE BRITISH

  • Fucking beautiful!

  • "後面個咋先係禦林軍,前面個咋係銀樂隊"

    佢地全部都係禦林軍,係welsh guards

    唔識野唔好亂講

  • fuck u, u arse hole wat u mean scum

  • ah but it ok for the ira to do it, n no1 says owt, u hypocritical wanker, im irish/scottish, a support celtic n a catholic, but i also in army, we do the job no1 else or will do, u chicken shit, get a life, ppl in ireland want to b free prove they can live in harmony wid other countries 1st then maybe

  • And the Birmingham bombings, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!???????????

  • Because you Irish deserve it. With your beer drinking and problem making and what not.

  • Welsh guards o ye!!!

  • Its a shame our empire is gone

  • At least it didn't go down in shambles like every other empire in history.

  • Its not really, 14 remaining overseas territories.

And technically the sun still never sets on it, thats a fact lol.

It's not much these days but surely if we still have that many territories around the world it must still be alive, don't you think?

  • It's always nice to see a British parade. The UK does them better than anybody, including us in America.

  • Im American, and I have to agree with you, I havent even seen an American Military Parade since the Iraq War, but even then I remeber they werent that great.

  • I can remember in AF basic we were striding out with arms swinging out like these Brits and we were forced to restrict our arm swing which of course cut the natural stride so it was unnatural... I do like the parade of the French Foreign Legion as well.
