Its hard to compare these two. The jag costs about 10 to 15 thousand dollars more and makes 80 more horsepower than the caddy. I have a cts, but if I could afford the jag and its maintenance, I'd seriously consider buying one.

Its called a subsidiary. Don't fool yourself, although Ford Europe designs and builds its own vehicles when it comes down to it it's Detroit that calls the shots. Its also Ford Motor Company that takes home the profits. BTW Volvo was not owned by Ford Europe but by Ford Motor Company in general.

I know horsepower and everything is important. But if I'm gonna pay bucks for a car like these I want the interior to be pimped out! So far BMW, Mercedes, Jags, etc. fall short compared to the CTS. Just my humble opinion. =)

i sat in both those cars at an auto show. The jag is nice as fuck, but the interior in the caddy is hands down the nicest car that ive ever sat in in my life!!! truly amazing to be in.

If you haven't noticed. Almost NOTHING on BMW's is as standard. They're overpriced, yet overrated peices of shit. Nearly EVERYTHING is an optional extra. While on the Jag. You get a lot of stuff standard, Hi res Sat Nav. Bi-Xenon headlamps. Heated seats. Power Steering (Probably an optional extra on a BMW) Steering wheel controls. And a BMW 1 Series (The most expensive one) costs $48,000. Fuck that.

It seems you have forgotten what got Jaguar and Land Rover into the current state of which there in in the first place. The quality of these cars is horrendous. Its why people stopped buying them. The reliability and quality was shit. Electrical issues have plagued Jaguar and Land Rover for decades. Have you ever stopped and wondered why Jag sells 25,000 cars a year and BMW sells 300,000+ a year in this country. Jaguar's quality is shit. And you call BMW's crap.
Electrical problems? That happened back in the 70's with the XJS when Jaguar was in charge with Leyland. That time has past. It's because BMW has a bigger line up of like 20 cars per class. "Oh look at me buy me I'm a common peice of trash everyone's gonna see" Jaguar's quality has improved vastly. I own an S-type. NEVER has it had any electrical problems. The leather in my S-type is hand stitched also, If you haven't noticed. Jaguar have their own seat makers.

All Astons are gorgeous. I didn't say they were. I love the styling of 80's, 90's and 00's Jags, and the XF doesn't look bad either. Its just doesn't portray the class and elegant styling that previous Jags have. Like I said, when most people look at a XF, they don't first thing its a Jag. But you can tell an XJ8 is a Jag from a mile away. I also love Land Rovers, despite their quality issues. What I don't like is when people like you talk them up to be more than they really are.
To be honest, I hate western europe. All they make is boring cars that are all copys. It's like UK and US are the only sane people. The rest (West europe) are just assholes.

First of all, I didn't understand a word you just said, and second. You're wrong, the first car with disc brakes was the MkII Jaguar. The Aston Martin shares NO partnership with Ford in the design department. Aston actually use a Jaguar V8 in the V8 Vantage. So they share with them. Jaguar also share V8's and V6's with Land Rover. And erm, in a review the XF actually has the best handling of any sedan currently.

The ProDrive P2, its a concept car with NO plans of ever production, that came directly from ProDrive. Also, the P2 would "utterly kill" the CTS-V around The Ring? Yea, just obliterate it. As of late it is. However, every model of Aston Martin is a model under the Ford reign. ProDrive hasn't added anything new the the brand. We'll see what ProDrive has to offer.
Cadillac have never even MADE a V12. The XJ220 can get 540+ HP out of a V6! See if Cadillac can do that. Some people you just can't get to realize anything. I challenge you to give me evidence that the XF-R in better than the CTS-V in ANY aspect. I have provided TRUTHFUL FACTS that the CTS-V is a better performer. It is the fastest saloon ever built and and currently holds the recond around the Nurburgring for any saloon ever. Ready for another fun fact? August of this year, the CTS sold 6,416 units. The ENTIRE Jaguar brand sold 1,785 units in August. Thats right, CTS nearly quadruples the entire Jaguar brand in sales.

Uhh, dumbass, that 500 HP Jaguar your talking is the one there putting into the XF-R, which would be a 5.0L SUPERCHARGED(note:not naturally aspirated) engine. You can get a naturally aspirated Z06 with more HP. And you missed the point. The CTS makes more hp coming from a V6 then the XF does from a V8. And the 4.2 is anything but "smooth and refined", its a 30 year old junk ass motor. It only feels smooth because of super-soft motor mounts. Its far from refined, its a fucking dinosaur.

Again, Jaguar V12? Its about as refined as a fucking Chevy small block. It uses the same technology found in every basic engine. Valley mounted cam, 2 valves per cylinder, and powerless. Its no different from any other basic V8, its just got 4 more cylinders. Nope, not refined at all.

Perhaps you don't care about performance. In that case, go buy your Jaguar then. Bottom line is that most people that can actually afford cars in this class look for a fine combination of luxury and performance. Jaguars never offered that combination, thats exactly why they can't sell cars. But when you can offer V8HP and performance with the fuel economy of a V6, while being incredibly sexy, your going to sell cars. And CTS does just that.

GM can't make shit huh? Funny, GM will sell more vehicles this year than every British manufacturer combined has sold on the past 15 years. Can't make shit? It is directly derived from the push button system Chrysler used in the 50's. Same exact concept. Its there to look pretty. But it doesn't appeal the most buyers, sales reflect that.
Jaguar V12 is a historic engine, known for it's refined and smooth power output. At least it doesn't spin at the wheels for about 10 seconds before it actually moves.

The V12 was nothing more than a lead brick. It was heavy, inefficient and unpractical. Again, you talk about power output. After 1997 Jaguar realized that the could get V12 from a V8 and stopped making that roach of an engine. Yea, its so fucking smooth and refined that they don't even produce it anymore.
Perhaps you have a driving issue? I drive 500+HP Corvette Z06's on a daily basis and don't have that problem. Or maybe the V12 just isn't capable of spinning tires?

YES! Inefficient. That V12 weight a shit ton. It weighed down everything you sat in. Which only allowed for front end weighed bias. Which only destroyed the handling of every car the engine sat in.
The XJ220. Ahh yes, a real good number of years, a grand total of two years! What a supercar that is. A beautiful car, agreed, but I think the statement here is the XJ220 didn't compare to any supercar, thats why it lasted just 2 years.

Yea, the XF starts at the same price there champ. Perhaps you don't know. The CTS and CTS-V have interiors that are HAND BUILT(that means no machine). Look inside one. Hand stitched leather wrapped dash board, doors panels, seats, and center console using the highest quality leathers available. Real wood grain throughout. Ambient lighting elegantly lights the car. Best in class quality and fit and finish. RATED-FACT. Get inside one, until, let me remind you, shut the fuck up already.
Ok, listen. Jaguar's have THE best interiors for the price on ANY vehicle. We have so many options. We have got REAL walnut veneer fitted to our dash from British trees. And all the stuff you just mentioned on that BMW, we have. Jesus, even our Gear shifter is walnut.

Copying styling cues from another manufacturer is never good. Especially when it doesn't look right on the car. Sadly, the rear end of the XF doesn't look right. When you look at that car, most people do not think, "wow, thats a nice Jag". Instead, you say to yourself, "oh wow, Pontiac brought the Grand Am back!" The car isn't elegant in styling at all. Previous Jags were beautiful, this one, its reminds me of a mutated Grand Am.

The CTS is best in its class. Theres no arguing that. Even the Jap/Euro bias auto rags will tell you that. On top of that, the new CTS-V rapes the competition. BMW, MB, Audi, Jag, etc. do not make a car in the same class that outperforms the new V in any aspects of the performance game. Oh, and its the most affordable too.

The Jag is not better. The quality of materials used and all around craftsmanship is inferior to the CTS's. The Jag is the most inferior in its class, that is fact.
Now, when people go to buy a CTS-V, M5, C65 AMG, RS6, etc, people are looking for performance more than anything else. Thats the bottom line. Look at ANY review on cars like these, its the very reason reporters focus on performance.

About your XF-R. Yea, it will destroy a CTS. A IS-F will rape a Corolla too. But are they in the same class? Nope. Sorry. NOW, lets compare the XF-R to the CTS-V. The R can't hold the V's jock strap. Styling preference is nothing more than a matter of opinion. Rovers looked like complete ass but they sold very well in your country at one time. And I think most people will agree that the new CTS-V is absolutely stunning.
Why would it be any better than a SRT-8? Quality, build quality, the quality of the materials used, the engineering that makes it the best performing sedan on the planet. All the same reasons that make it better than a M5 or C63 AMG.
Not many people agree the XF is good looking, apart from the headlamps (Which I personally like) The the rest of the car actually has lines, unlike the CTS-V, which basically looks like a kid drew it with a ruler. They say the average age of a cadillac driver has dropped from 65 to 58, I guess that's some way forward for them. Aston Martin is owned by Prodrive,a british motorsport and racing vehicle manufacturer.

Luke, do you know what the Nurburgring is? The best of the best test their cars there. Its a 12.9 mile long track with 73 turns. The CTS-V posted the best time there ever by any sedan, ever. A better time than M5, and any 4 door MB AMG, any and every sedan that Europe offers, the CTS-V burned them around the ring. Thats more than straight line performance.

And I must ask. Where are you getting your XF-R statistics from. All these claims that haven't ever been released by the manufacturer yet. All that you or I know about this car is it will have 500HP and have a sub 5 second 0-60 time. If thats all its offering, then its got some catching up to do already. Let me know when the XF-R actually posts times around the ring, until then, all your claims are false.

I know for a fact that a CTS-V if far better outfitted with luxurious options and performance settings than an XF-R is. And yes. Bentleys are very unreliable. If you spend half a million dollars on a car, and its still unreliable, its a piece of shit in my book.
Its hard to compare these two. The jag costs about 10 to 15 thousand dollars more and makes 80 more horsepower than the caddy. I have a cts, but if I could afford the jag and its maintenance, I'd seriously consider buying one.

You get a lot of stuff standard, Hi res Sat Nav. Bi-Xenon headlamps. Heated seats. Power Steering (Probably an optional extra on a BMW) Steering wheel controls. And a BMW 1 Series (The most expensive one) costs $48,000. Fuck that.

Electrical problems? That happened back in the 70's with the XJS when Jaguar was in charge with Leyland. That time has past. It's because BMW has a bigger line up of like 20 cars per class. "Oh look at me buy me I'm a common peice of trash everyone's gonna see" Jaguar's quality has improved vastly. I own an S-type. NEVER has it had any electrical problems. The leather in my S-type is hand stitched also, If you haven't noticed. Jaguar have their own seat makers.

All Astons are gorgeous. I didn't say they were. I love the styling of 80's, 90's and 00's Jags, and the XF doesn't look bad either. Its just doesn't portray the class and elegant styling that previous Jags have. Like I said, when most people look at a XF, they don't first thing its a Jag. But you can tell an XJ8 is a Jag from a mile away. I also love Land Rovers, despite their quality issues. What I don't like is when people like you talk them up to be more than they really are.

First of all, I didn't understand a word you just said, and second. You're wrong, the first car with disc brakes was the MkII Jaguar. The Aston Martin shares NO partnership with Ford in the design department. Aston actually use a Jaguar V8 in the V8 Vantage. So they share with them. Jaguar also share V8's and V6's with Land Rover. And erm, in a review the XF actually has the best handling of any sedan currently.

Stop on about my opinion because you can't think of toss all to say. It's BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. The CTS-V looks square from every angle. We abolished that shit here in Britain a LONG time ago. The XF is built in a more advanced factory than any German sedan is created in. I know this since I've been to Castle Bromwich (UK) and the BMW Factory in Munich. And I can tell you. The XF is built to a very high standard. It'll keep powering on for a long time.

Cadillac have never even MADE a V12. The XJ220 can get 540+ HP out of a V6! See if Cadillac can do that. Also, I bet you're going to rant on about how this V6 was "Heavy, Inefficient" Well it's a legendary car and you can't do nothing about that. Jaguar's V12, You could balance an stuff on the engine, since it's so refined it wouldn't move. Maybe I don't care about performance? I don't drive around a racetrack my entire life. Uhh, dumbass, that 500 HP Jaguar your talking is the one there putting into the XF-R, which would be a 5.0L SUPERCHARGED(note:not naturally aspirated) engine. You can get a naturally aspirated Z06 with more HP. And you missed the point. The CTS makes more hp coming from a V6 then the XF does from a V8. And the 4.2 is anything but "smooth and refined", its a 30 year old junk ass motor. It only feels smooth because of super-soft motor mounts. Its far from refined, its a fucking dinosaur.

Again, Jaguar V12? Its about as refined as a fucking Chevy small block. It uses the same technology found in every basic engine. Valley mounted cam, 2 valves per cylinder, and powerless. Its no different from any other basic V8, its just got 4 more cylinders. Nope, not refined at all.

Perhaps you don't care about performance. In that case, go buy your Jaguar then. Bottom line is that most people that can actually afford cars in this class look for a fine combination of luxury and performance. Jaguars never offered that combination, thats exactly why they can't sell cars. But when you can offer V8HP and performance with the fuel economy of a V6, while being incredibly sexy, your going to sell cars. And CTS does just that.

The V12 was nothing more than a lead brick. It was heavy, inefficient and unpractical. Again, you talk about power output. After 1997 Jaguar realized that the could get V12 from a V8 and stopped making that roach of an engine. Yea, its so fucking smooth and refined that they don't even produce it anymore.
Perhaps you have a driving issue? I drive 500+HP Corvette Z06's on a daily basis and don't have that problem. Or maybe the V12 just isn't capable of spinning tires?

Also, I just watched a video of the CTS-V. Shit loads of wheelspin, and loads of understeer in the corners. YES! Inefficient. That V12 weight a shit ton. It weighed down everything you sat in. Which only allowed for front end weighed bias. Which only destroyed the handling of every car the engine sat in.

Yea, the XF starts at the same price there champ. Perhaps you don't know. The CTS and CTS-V have interiors that are HAND BUILT(that means no machine). Look inside one. Hand stitched leather wrapped dash board, doors panels, seats, and center console using the highest quality leathers available. Real wood grain throughout. Ambient lighting elegantly lights the car. Best in class quality and fit and finish. RATED-FACT. Get inside one, until, let me remind you, shut the fuck up already.

Copying styling cues from another manufacturer is never good. Especially when it doesn't look right on the car. Sadly, the rear end of the XF doesn't look right. When you look at that car, most people do not think, "wow, thats a nice Jag". Instead, you say to yourself, "oh wow, Pontiac brought the Grand Am back!" The car isn't elegant in styling at all. Previous Jags were beautiful, this one, its reminds me of a mutated Grand Am.

The CTS is best in its class. Theres no arguing that. Even the Jap/Euro bias auto rags will tell you that. On top of that, the new CTS-V rapes the competition. BMW, MB, Audi, Jag, etc. do not make a car in the same class that outperforms the new V in any aspects of the performance game. Oh, and its the most affordable too.

The Jag is not better. The quality of materials used and all around craftsmanship is inferior to the CTS's. The Jag is the most inferior in its class, that is fact.

About your XF-R. Yea, it will destroy a CTS. A IS-F will rape a Corolla too. But are they in the same class? Nope. Sorry. NOW, lets compare the XF-R to the CTS-V. The R can't hold the V's jock strap. Styling preference is nothing more than a matter of opinion. Rovers looked like complete ass but they sold very well in your country at one time. And I think most people will agree that the new CTS-V is absolutely stunning.
Why would it be any better than a SRT-8? Quality, build quality, the quality of the materials used, the engineering that makes it the best performing sedan on the planet. All the same reasons that make it better than a M5 or C63 AMG.

Not many people agree the XF is good looking, apart from the headlamps (Which I personally like) The the rest of the car actually has lines, unlike the CTS-V, which basically looks like a kid drew it with a ruler. They say the average age of a cadillac driver has dropped from 65 to 58, I guess that's some way forward for them. Aston Martin is owned by Prodrive,a british motorsport and racing vehicle manufacturer.

Luke, do you know what the Nurburgring is? The best of the best test their cars there. Its a 12.9 mile long track with 73 turns. The CTS-V posted the best time there ever by any sedan, ever. A better time than M5, and any 4 door MB AMG, any and every sedan that Europe offers, the CTS-V burned them around the ring. Thats more than straight line performance.
